Chris Pratt plays a "'Sliding Doors' version" of the same character in his "big commercial" movies. The 45-year-old actor - who is known for starring in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and 'Jurassic World' film series - has admitted he often plays similar versions of a scoundrel adventurer in his big budget movie projects.During an interview with 'Entertainment Weekly', Chris was asked about similarities between his character Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movies and his role of John D. Keats in new movie 'The Electric State' and he explained: "I kind of like to think, hopefully, that’s like every character I ever play though, in this tone, something that’s like a big, family friendly, raucous, adventure, sci-fi film,."When it’s a big commercial tone like this, you’re going to get a 'Sliding Doors'...

Chris Pratt modelled his 'Electric State' character on his old neighbour. The 45-year-old actor stars in the sci-fi film that is set an alternate 1990s universe and revealed that he took inspiration from a man who grew up on the same street as him to bring his character to screen. He told ScreenRant: "Kenny Gundacker, may he rest in peace…"What I remember of him as a seven-year-old is [that] he was just an icon"I thought I lived next to David Lee Roth. I saw [Roth] on MTV, and I was like, ‘Oh, that’s my neighbour. I see him every day.’ He used to jump around on a little mini trampoline in the backyard in tiger-striped stretch pants with a tiny little electric guitar he would just rip on … it was his swagger and his confidence that just made him so attractive to anyone around him, as I remember it now.

Dlr will be playing his first public gig since supporting Kiss in March 2020, although he did play a pair of private Las Vegas corporate events in 2023. The booking officially answers any lingering questions regarding his vague claims of retirement from a few years ago.

Back in the Eighties and Nineties, the release of a major rock star memoir was a fairly uncommon event. Noteworthy ones like George Harrison’s I, Me, Mine (1980), Iggy Pop’s I Need More (1982), and David Lee Roth’s Crazy From the Heat (1997) popped up every once in a while, but it wasn’t until the 2000s that this genre started making regular appearances on The New York Times bestseller list, thanks to landmark works like Anthony Kiedis’ Scar Tissue, Bob Dylan’s Chronicles: Volume One, Eric Clapton’s The Autobiography,...

Spin Doctors were a Nineties anomaly — a jam band from the same New York City scene as Blues Traveler who sold over 10 million copies of their 1991 debut album, Pocket Full of Kryptonite, largely thanks to two witty, power-poppy singles: “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” and “Two Princes.”
Thirty-three years later, with their original lineup mostly intact (save for the absence of bassist Mark White), they’ve announced their first album in 12 years, Face Full of Cake, and released a new single, “Still A Gorilla.”

Rhino has unveiled a new David Lee Roth box set, The Warner Recordings 1985-1994, arriving on vinyl and CD on February 21st.
The 5-lp and 5-cd box sets house Roth’s solo recordings following his exit from Van Halen in 1985, beginning with the Crazy from the Heat EP and its hit song “Just a Gigolo.”
Dlr followed that up with the successful Eat ‘Em and Smile LP in 1986, featuring Roth teamed up with an all-star backing band featuring bassist Billy Sheehan, drummer Gregg Bissonette, and guitar virtuoso Steve Vai. Roth then went on to release three more LPs on Warner including 1988’s Skyscraper, 1991’s A Little Ain’t Enough, and 1994’s Your Filthy Little Mouth.
Of note for collectors, the upcoming vinyl box set will contain the first-ever repressing of Your Filthy Little Mouth, which was only released on vinyl in Germany in 1994, making it a scarce and pricey original pressing.

Sammy Hagar has responded to Alex Van Halen skipping the “Van Hagar” era in his memoir, calling the lack of acknowledgement “blasphemy” to Eddie’s legacy.
Hagar’s remarks came via an otherwise innocuous Instagram post that saw the Red Rocker nostalgically reflecting on his time in Van Halen. In the original post, featuring a photo from 1991 of Hagar and Eddie heading to the stage, Hagar joked about their choice of fashion at the time before taking a more serious tone when commenters began to compare the David Lee Roth years to Van Hagar.
“No disrespect to Alex but it’s ok to like Vh with Sammy, even if he doesn’t anymore,” wrote one commenter, prompting another: “Most purists believe Vh ended with Dlr.”
Here, Hagar chimed in.
“It could have [ended], my friend, but instead we went on to sell over 50 million records for [a] No. 1 album [then] sold out every...

David Lee Roth is back with another dance video, this time performing and singing along to a solo recording of Van Halen‘s “Panama.”
Roth’s dance clips fall somewhere between Britney Spears’ selfie dances and the absurdist humor of Robert and Toyah Fripp’s musical parodies. There’s a very Dlr cheekiness to them — and they’re not too far removed from his actual stage antics.
Here he’s essentially singing karaoke with himself, as the audio of this version of “Panama” hails from recordings with the Roth Band from a 2022 session at Henson Recording Studio in Hollywood. Opening with a routine featuring a large pole and some rather random background images, Dlr transitions into a barebones stage set where he struts and belts out the lyrics. He looks like he’s actually performing on an empty stage in some venue or theater. The clip ends with the following text: “Don’t use me,...

Van Halen’s reunion tour was canceled due to an ongoing feud between David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen before Eddie’s death.
Eddie died of cancer in October 2020. Alex Van Halen, the band’s drummer and Eddie’s brother, opened up about the band’s struggles during an interview with Rolling Stone.
“The thing that broke the camel’s back, and I can be honest about this now, was I said, ‘Dave, at some point, we have to have a very overt – not bowing – but an acknowledgment of Ed in the gig,'” Alex said. “‘If you look at how Queen does it, they show old footage.’ And the moment I said we gotta acknowledge Ed, Dave popped a fuse… The vitriol that came out was unbelievable.”

As Alex Van Halen continues to promote his upcoming memoir, Brothers, the drummer’s apparent disdain for Sammy Hagar becomes more and more evident. In a new interview with Billboard, Alex suggests that Van Halen lost their “magic” after David Lee Roth left the band in 1985.
In a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Alex blamed Diamond Dave’s apparent refusal to pay tribute to Eddie Van Halen for putting the kibosh on a planned reunion tour honoring the late guitarist. That said, he holds the band’s initial years with Dlr in the highest regard.
“What happened after Dave left is not the same band,” Van Halen told Billboard. “I’m not saying it was better or worse or any of that. The fact is Ed and I did our best work whenever we played.”
He continued, “We always gave it our best shot. But the magic was in the first years,...

Van Halen was established back in 1973 and found itself being disbanded after nearly five decades of incredible musicmaking, but its rage among the rock fans is still as strong as ever. Over the years that it was still active, while the heavy metal band restored hard rock to the forefront of the music scene through its energetic live performances – especially through its late lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen – it was also met with quite a lot of changes.
For one, while it started with the Van Halen brothers, Eddie and Alex, the band went on to let rock singer David Lee Roth hop onto their rock-y journey as well, despite all the complications. But his tenure didn’t last long as, within less than a decade, Roth ended up leaving to embark on his own solo journey, with his empty spot being filled by Sammy Hagar. At different times when Van Halen were in between singers, Ozzy Osbourne and Chris Cornell were each in the running to front the legendary rock band. The revelation comes courtesy of Alex Van Halen’s first interview since the 2020 passing of his brother Eddie Van Halen.
While speaking with Rolling Stone to promote his new memoir, Brothers, set for release on October 22nd, Alex revealed that, on each occasion, Van Halen were deep in the process of working with Osbourne and Cornell.
Osbourne was approached in 2001, after Gary Cherone’s tenure in Van Halen ended in 1999, and prior to Sammy Hagar’s return in 2003. Alex said that he and Eddie sat down with Sharon Osbourne to discuss an Ozzy-fronted Van Halen album, but the plans fell apart upon the launch of MTV’s The Osbournes reality show.

Alex Van Halen has given his first public interview since the death of his brother Eddie Van Halen, and the drummer revealed some shocking revelations regarding a proposed Van Halen reunion tour that never came to fruition.
Alex spoke to Rolling Stone ahead of the release of his memoir Brothers on October 22nd, opening up about myriad topics, including the nixed reunion tour and the bizarre reason why the plans came to a halt.
Rumors of the tour that had circulated since Eddie’s passing were largely true. According to the Rolling Stone article, Roth and Alex had even begun rehearsing for the tour with members of Dlr’s solo band, with plans to fill out the lineup with former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and Joe Satriani on lead guitar, in Eddie’s place.

Lady Gaga stays in character on Harlequin. It’s her companion to Joker: Folie a Deux, inspired by her role as Harley Quinn. But it’s a luxuriant album of jazzy swing, mostly standards, right in her sweet spot. Harlequin is in the swank mode of her Tony Bennett albums Cheek to Cheek and Love for Sale, as well as her Jazz & Piano residency in Vegas. It’s the first time she’s recorded standards since her beloved Bennett passed away last year. As she told Rolling Stone’s Angie Martoccio,...

Wolfgang Van Halen: Net Worth, Age, Height & Everything You Need To Know About Eddie Van Halen's Son

With a name like Wolfgang Van Halen, the rock star needs little introduction, but the bassist's net worth is still an interesting figure that shows just how much the top musicians can make. Van Halen, alongside Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Kiss, Queen, and AC/DC, was one of the key bands who helped return hard rock to the mainstream music scene after the genre slowly gestated in the 1960s with bands like Led Zeppelin, the Who, and the Rolling Stones dabbling in it. Formed in 1973, the band featured Eddie Van Halen, his brother Alex Van Halen, David Lee Roth, and Michael Anthony.
Van Halen songs have frequently appeared in movies, and the band remains an important part of pop culture. Wolfgang Van Halen, Eddy's and actress Valerie Bertinelli's son, joined the band in 2007 as a bassist and played until the band retired in 2020 after the death of his father. The audiobook version of Alex Van Halen’s upcoming memoir Brothers will feature an incredible added bonus, as it will be soundtracked by the last piece of music that the Van Halen drummer wrote with his late brother, guitarist Eddie Van Halen. The previously unreleased track, titled “Unfinished,” will be heard as Alex narrates his story.
Brothers, set for release on October 22nd via HarperCollins (available for pre-order here), has been described as a “love letter” to Eddie. Alex himself noted, “This is my tribute to my brother; my way of saying goodbye. Ed, I love you and miss you. When I see you again, I’m gonna kick your ass!”
The 384-page book details Alex and Eddie’s lives from their childhood to the guitarist’s passing in 2020. As Alex describes, “I was with him from day one. We shared the experience of coming to this country and figuring out how to fit in.

Sammy Hagar took time out of his concert on Friday night (August 2nd) to honor Aerosmith, who had just announced their retirement from touring only hours earlier. The Red Rocker praised singer Steven Tyler for knowing when to call it a day, while also declaring that “a lot of other motherf**kers should have did a long time ago,” perhaps a not-so-subtle dig at longtime nemesis David Lee Roth.
As reported, Aerosmith abruptly retired from touring on Friday, citing Tyler’s vocal injury. The band had hoped to embark on their farewell tour this September after postponing it last year, but determined “that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible.”

The appeal of Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) in Stephen Herek's 1989 sci-fi hit "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" is their persistent ability to remain upbeat and relaxed. The characters may be a pair of none-too-bright wastoids from San Dimas, California, more interested in playing in their crappy metal band than, y'know, reading books, but they seem completely comfortable with themselves, confident with their surfers' patois and thimble-deep perception of the world. The characters only come to appreciate world history when they're given a time machine and meet famous historical figures -- Joan of Arc, Sigmund Freud, Genghis Khan, et al -- in person. Through films like "Bill & Ted," mass audiences learned that metal fans weren't Satan-worshiping bullies, but affable, silly, generally nice dudes.
Bill & Ted spoke like L.A. surfers, but weren't part of the beach scene. As such, their costuming needed to denote their characters specifically,...

Jeopardy! fans are not happy with the recent gameplay lately. On Friday, returning champion Amar Kakirde took on two new contestants, and many fans feel that the new competitors didn’t offer up much of a challenge. They even went as far as to say the challengers “fumbled hard” in the competition.
Here is a look at what happened on Friday’s show and why it was a tough episode for fans to watch.

When the universe offers a sign — and the sign comes straight from the lips of Nicolas Cage — you can’t ignore it.
That, in essence, is how 31-year-old guitarist Ben Katzman found himself on Survivor. The paperwork sat on his desk, but Katzman was racked with doubt. He’d already lost everything once: his band, his record label, his DIY community. Going on reality television seemed like a potential career suicide. Which is where Cage comes in.

Michael Anthony has opened up about his relationship with former Van Halen bandmate David Lee Roth. While the bassist insists he has nothing against the singer, he describes the frontman as “kind of a crazy guy.”
In July, Anthony will head out on the “Best of All Worlds” tour alongside Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, and Jason Bonham. The all-star outfit will be performing Van Halen songs from all eras of the band on the North American outing.

A couple years ago, a different tour honoring the late Eddie Van Halen was being planned that would have seen Anthony and Satriani playing alongside Roth and Alex Van Halen, with ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted also reported to be involved. That outing never materialized, and Anthony reveals he hasn’t spoken with Roth since.

David Lee Roth has released the new song “Scotch and Sofa.” The track is the latest in a series of one-off singles from the Van Halen singer, and it might be the most eccentric of the bunch.
Laced with prominent horns, Dlr dabbles in a bit of salsa/disco on the song. There’s also a bit of the lounge-y cabaret vibes Diamond Dave has always had an affinity for. An Easter Egg for Van Halen fans comes in the form of his chorus delivery of “scotch and sofa” — which shares the same cadence as “hot for teacher.”
Roth shared the song on his YouTube channel under the title “Scotch and Sofa 4” but offered little else regarding its origin. Like his other recent post-“retirement” singles, the track might have came from recording sessions nearly a decade ago at Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood, California.
The recording sessions featured John 5 on guitar and bass,...

Six weeks after David Lee Roth released a profanity-laced video that targeted and teased Wolfgang Van Halen, the Mammoth Wvh rocker has finally responded to his former band mate’s “This Fuckin’ Kid” clip.
Roth’s video, posted seemingly unprovoked in January, also called Wolfgang a “schlemiel” (“fool” in Yiddish), mocked him for benefiting from nepotism, and griped about Wolfgang allegedly ordering the removal of an accountant from a backstage area after supposedly mistaking her for Roth’s girlfriend.

Wolfgang Van Halen has reacted to a recent rant in which he was verbally assaulted by David Lee Roth for incidents that allegedly occurred when they were both in Van Halen.
Back in January, Diamond Dave posted a video to his YouTube channel that essentially served as a long voice-over monologue insulting Wolfgang. The clip started with Roth suggesting that the late Eddie Van Halen’s son benefitted from nepotism, and then went on to accuse the young musician of trying to throw Roth’s guests out of Van Halen shows. Throughout the entire rant, Roth continuously referred to Wolfgang as “this fuckin’ kid.”
In a new interview with the radio show The Morning X With Barnes & Leslie (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), Wolfgang was asked why he thinks Roth would spew such “vile” venom toward him. He responded, “I guess I’m honored he even thinks about me as much as he seems to.

Eddie and Alex Van Halen had the closest musical relationship imaginable, playing together for nearly six decades — even in Van Halen’s most fallow periods, when the band was between singers, the brothers would rehearse at Eddie’s 5150 Studios to rehearse just about every day. Alex, Van Halen’s drummer, has been almost entirely silent since Eddie’s death from cancer in October 2020, sharing only a brief statement: “Hey, Ed. Love you. See you on the other side. Your brother, Al.”

A memoir by Alex Van Halen titled Brothers is set for an October 22nd release via HarperCollins.
The 384-page hardcover autobiography comes as a surprise given how private Alex has been since the passing of his brother Eddie Van Halen in 2020. HarperCollins will also be publishing a 720-minute audiobook and an ebook edition in addition to the physical hardback. Pre-orders are now ongoing.
Although limited details are currently available, HarperCollins’ preview revealed the working title for the book, “The Brothers Van Halen.” We can surmise that the book will follow Alex and Eddie’s ascent to rock stardom as the drummer and guitar wizard of Van Halen, respectively.
Famously, the two almost had reversed roles, as they would swap instruments as kids before Eddie stuck to guitar for good. The seeds of Van Halen were planted when the brothers’ formed their early band Mammoth in 1972 prior to teaming up with...

David Lee Roth is in full vendetta mode these days. After hitting back at Sammy Hagar last week, he’s now turned his attention to Wolfgang Van Halen.
The longtime Van Halen singer posted a YouTube video on Wednesday (January 24th) deriding the son of the late Eddie Van Halen. The clip starts out with a conversation between Diamond Dave and “Jesus Christ” that metaphorically suggests that Wolfgang benefitted from nepotism when he was tapped to play bass in Van Halen as a teenager back in 2007.
The immature Jesus voice says, “Bro, I just want people to know … I got this job because of my talent. I woulda had this job anyway even if my dad wasn’t God.”
Then, Dlr goes into a long story about how Wolfgang complained about not getting enough attention from the singer, and that the young Van Halen supposedly mistook the band’s accountants...

Los Angeles, Jan 21 (Ians) Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth made some out-of-this-world claims about his longtime rival and replacement Sammy Hagar.
He said that the vocalist had been “sex probed” by aliens after being abducted as a teen in California, reports ‘New York Post’.
“According to Sam, he was abducted by aliens,” Roth, 69, said during an episode of ‘The Roth Show podcast’ titled ‘The Ballad of Popsicle Sam’.
The ‘Runnin’ With the Devil’ singer said he was “compelled to solicit this sordid subject in an effort to explain Sam Hagar’s conduct” after he said he has not spoken “a single syllable about him” for the “last 10 summers”.
As per ‘New York Post’, Roth claimed the ‘I Can’t Drive 55’ singer was taken by extraterrestrials while at a park when he was 15.

The long-running feud between Van Halen frontmen continues on with David Lee Roth now declaring that “Sammy Hagar was abducted by aliens and he was sex probed.”
Diamond Dave delivered the verbal assault on the Red Rocker in a new video dubbed “The Ballad of Popsicle Sam,” in which we hear Dlr’s voice over a 25-minute slideshow of new black & white photos of himself.
To backtrack, Hagar claimed in 2011 that he was once abducted by aliens, telling MTV at the time, “Aliens were plugged into me. It was a download situation. This was long before computers or any kind of wireless. There weren’t even wireless telephones. Looking back now, it was like, ‘Fuck, they downloaded something into me!’ Or they uploaded something from my brain, like an experiment. ‘See what this guy knows.’”
Now, 13 years later, Dlr is poking fun at Hagar’s claims, perhaps upset at some...

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong has shared the story of meeting one of his heroes, Eddie Van Halen, revealing that the guitar legend “started crying” during their backstage encounter.
During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday (January 17th), Stern brought up the fact that the first concert Armstrong attended was a Van Halen show. “When I saw Van Halen in ’84, I was 12, and they were my favorite band, and I cried,” began the Green Day singer-guitarist. “It’s like his guitar playing came from a different place. He reinvented how to play guitar. But they also wrote great songs, that’s the main thing that I took away from Van Halen. The songs were just so fucking great.”
When Stern asked if Armstrong ever got to meet Eddie, the punk frontman shared the story of his one and only meeting with the guitar icon. “I [met him] one time,...

David Lee Roth has shared a newly recorded version of Van Halen’s monster hit “Jump.” The singer laid down the track during a 2022 session that has also yielded new renditions of other Van Halen classics.
The recording took place on May 3rd, 2022, at the Henson Recording Studio in Hollywood, California. The track features Al Estrada (guitar), Ryan Wheeler (bass), and Francis Valentino (drums).
Previous songs that have come out of that session include “Unchained,” “Everybody Wants Some!!,” “You Really Got Me,” “Dance the Night Away,” “Panama,” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.”
It’s unclear why Diamond Dave chose to record new versions of these Van Halen classics. Perhaps he set out to prove that his voice was still in good shape, after receiving criticism about his live performances in recent years.
Earlier this year, fellow former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar declared, “[Roth] doesn’t care about singing.

When it comes to the relationship between David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar, the usual question is “Why can’t this be love?” However, it looks like there may be a truce among the long-feuding Van Halen frontmen, as Diamond Dave has seemingly accepted the Red Rocker’s invite to join him onstage.
Hagar recently announced the 2024 “Best of All Worlds Tour” (tickets available here), featuring an all-star backing band of Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani, and Jason Bonham. The summer outing will see Hagar and company focusing largely on Van Halen material.
Following the tour announcement, Hagar told Howard Stern, “We’re gonna invite every musician in every town. … Other guitar players, we’ll get them involved; other singers, get ’em involved. If Alex Van Halen wants to jump out — if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on motherf**ker, you are welcome. This is about Van Halen.

Adam Sandler first introduced “The Chanukah Song” in 1994 during the “Weekend Update” segment on “Saturday Night Live.” Although he penned the holiday tune himself, Sandler revealed in an interview with Access Hollywood that Roseanne Barr — who was hosting that week — almost performed the song on the late-night show.
“They were talking about Roseanne singing it,” Sandler recalled. “And she was nice enough to say ‘no, let Adam do that, that’s his, he wrote it, that’s his song.'”
During the “Weekend Update” segment with Norm Macdonald in 1994, Sandler explained that he wrote “The Chanukah Song” after noticing the lack of music about Hanukkah.
“Put on your yarmulke. Here comes Hanukkah. So much funukah. To celebrate Hanukkah,” Sandler sang. “Hanukkah is the festival of lights. Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights.”
Sandler then listed several celebrities who are Jewish, including David Lee Roth, James Caan,...

On Tuesday, Sammy Hagar announced the 2024 “Best of All Worlds Tour” — a nod to Van Halen’s 2004 “Best of Both Worlds Tour” that featured both Hagar and David Lee Roth.
