Dogwoof unleashed the trailer for the feature documentary featuring John Lennon and Yoko Onom ‘One To One: John & Yoko.’
Directed by renowned British director Kevin Macdonald and co-directed and edited by Sam Rice-Edwards, the feature delivers an immersive cinematic experience that brings to life electrifying, never-before-seen material and newly restored footage of Lennon’s only full-length, post-Beatles concert. With mind-blowing remastered audio overseen by their son, Sean Ono Lennon, the film is both compelling and bittersweet, challenging pre-existing notions of the iconic couple.
On August 30, 1972, in New York City, John Lennon played his only full-length show after leaving The Beatles, the One to One benefit concert at Madison Square Garden, a rollicking, dazzling performance from him and Yoko Ono. Macdonald’s riveting documentary takes that legendary musical event and uses it as the starting point to explore eighteen defining months in the lives of John and Yoko.

As of this writing, there have been nine film in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. Tobe Hooper's 1974 original, "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre," remains one of the best horror films of all time, dredging the audiences through violence and filth that has rarely been matched on the big screen. Hooper's film feels dingy and oily, and if it was made and edited by the cannibal hillbillies it features.
The many sequels are of dubious canonical value. The series features multiple reboots and reshaping of the continuity, with at least three that restart/reboot the franchise, or that serve as direct sequels to the original. Only the central concept remains: In the wilds of rural Texas, a remote Sawyer clan has been cut off from civilization, relying on cannibalism (and possibly incest) to survive, and a group of unsuspecting cityfolk drive through the Sawyer family's property and are attacked,...

The headquarters of the U.S. military has responded to a protest by some news organizations over the planned eviction of mainstream media outlets from its shared office space within the Pentagon by expanding the eviction list.
On Friday, Pentagon spokesperson John Ullyot distributed a memo to affected news outlets notifying them of the expanded eviction list, which also named the news organizations and publications that will move into the affected office space.
Initially, four news organizations — NBC News, National Public Radio (NPR), the New York Times and Politico — were affected by a new initiative called the Annual Media Rotation Program (Ampr), which involved the sharing of limited office space in a section of the Pentagon called Correspondents’ Corridor where members of the media have operated for decades.

Netflix offers another true crime series where the filmmakers put the media on trial. The most current example is American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson, a series that, by the third episode, points fingers at the salacious nature of the case, which was perfect for the dawn of putting a trial on television.
However, the series offers eye-opening, fair treatment from both sides of the aisle. It correctly shows that putting the trial on television affected both sides. From the prosecutors to the defense attorneys, from the judge to the jury, everyone thought and acted differently because of it.
That makes American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson so compelling, gripping, and, at times, jaw-dropping. This behind-the-scenes true crime docuseries, the first original from Netflix on the case, pulls back the curtain on the maneuvering and explains why the infamous Hall of Fame football player was charged but never convicted.

Depending on who you ask, CNN anchor Jim Acosta is getting a chance to speak to a much broader audience with an assignment at a new and non-traditional time slot, or he’s being removed entirely from the usual daily discussion around the news.
Executives at CNN have asked Acosta to take a new role, anchoring a show that would air from midnight to 2 a.m. on the eastern coast of the U.S., according to two people familiar with the matter. Even so, the show has been pitched a chance to deliver live breaking news to audiences on the West coast and overseas at times when viewers in those regions are still active and craving information.
The offer was issued this week, according to these people, and Acosta, who gained a broader profile at CNN with his coverage of the White House during the first administration of President Donald Trump,...

Even though time has no meaning in the world of Springfield (possibly due to some kind of anomaly in the space time continuum), here in the real world, The Simpsons is more than three decades old. Which means that, even though Bart Simpson will never not be a fresh-faced 10-year-old, the show has included a number of jokes that betray its agedness.
Over on Reddit, Simpsons fans have been sharing some of their favorite, most wildly dated references from the series’ long, long history, which those viewers who were born after the fall of the Soviet Union may not even get. Such as the time that the Simpson family randomly burst into the “I feel like Chicken Tonight” song.
This was, of course, a reference to a commercial jingle that’s almost as old as the show itself. In the early ‘90s, Ragu’s line of poultry sauces was sold...

Geraldo Rivera is taking partial accountability for the role he played in bolstering public suspicion that John and Patsy Ramsey were responsible for the 1996 murder of their 6-year-old daughter, JonBenét.
John and Rivera appeared live together, via Zoom, on Monday night for a NewsNation segment facilitated by host Chris Cuomo (below) following the Nov. 25 release of the three-part Netflix docuseries Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey. Episode two of Joe Berlinger’s docuseries revisited the memorable mock trial that played out on The Geraldo Rivera Show in 1997, where Rivera asked a volunteer jury of six men and women to “rule” on the likelihood that John and/or Patsy allegedly murdered their daughter. Testimonies pointed to what were deemed to be sexually suggestive photos and videos of JonBenét as unsubstantiated proof that she was an abused child, resulting in a mock verdict that found Patsy liable for her death.

Updated, with Gaetz resigning his congressional seat: Donald Trump has nominated Rep.. Matt Gaetz (R-fl) to serve as attorney general, a surprise pick that will please the president-elect’s Maga allies but may prove to be a flashpoint in the confirmation process.
There already are doubts that Gaetz will have the Senate votes, even with the Republicans set to control the chamber.
The selection of Gaetz, a key ally and partisan flamethrower, also is raising alarm among Democrats over the independence of the Justice Department, as Trump has vowed to enact retribution on political enemies.
More than anything, Gaetz has been in lockstep with Trump over his view of the DOJ.
Trump said in a statement, “Few issues in America are more important than ending the partisan Weaponization of our Justice System. Matt will end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations and restore Americans’ badly-shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department.

Tom Jarriel, a former anchor and correspondent for ABC News who became a mainstay on the newsmagazine 20/20, has died. He was 89.
Jarriel’s family announced his death on Thursday, ABC News reported.
Jarriel joined the network in 1965, covering the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and later the Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford administrations as chief White House correspondent.
He later anchored the network’s weekend newscast and was a correspondent on 20/20, the network’s newsmagazine that was introduced in 1978.
Per ABC, Jarriel won six Emmy awards for his reporting for the show. He called a report on children in Romanian orphanages “the great, defining moment of my career,” the network said.

Geraldo Rivera, who also was a correspondent for the show, posted on X, “He was an excellent, award winning reporter and gracious colleague on 20/20, a true gentleman.”

(Updated with Trump campaign statement) After Geraldo Rivera’s condemnation of old pal Donald Trump the past few years, no one should be surprised the former talk show host and Apprentice contestant is endorsing Kamala Harris for president. But, man, oh man, few could have anticipated how vehement the ex-Fox News correspondent is that Trump should get nowhere near the Oval Office ever again.
“Former President Trump is a sore loser who cannot be trusted to honor the Constitution,” wrote Rivera in a post on Elon Musk’s X this morning. “That is why I am voting for Kamala Harris to be our 47th President.”
Stating his own electoral preference, Rivera makes sure to put MAGAland in its own spotlight in the last weeks of what remains a very tight race between the ex-potus and the current VP.

In most ways, Gilbert Gottfried was always behind the times. On his podcast, he obsessed over old movies, and up until his death in 2022, his stand-up act still contained jokes about long-dead character actors like Ben Gazzara and impressions of an elderly Groucho Marx. There’s at least one example, though, of Gottfried being ahead of the curve, and that was when he appeared on the seventh season of The Celebrity Apprentice in January 2015.
Other funny people had competed on The Celebrity Apprentice before him, but no one so clearly gave exactly zero fucks about it. In a baking competition where he had to wear rubber gloves, he offered Geraldo Rivera a prostate exam, and later, he told dirty jokes to the executives of a frozen yogurt company, all to the chagrin of the insufferably self-serious Ian Ziering (who clearly couldn’t stand Gottfried).
Until his firing in the third episode,...

The devil is in the details, or in the case of Hysteria!, in a local heavy metal band.
Hysteria! is one of two original series Peacock has lined up to scare the bejesus out of viewers this Halloween.
The other is Teacup, based on Robert McCammon’s 1988 science fiction horror novel Stinger, set to premiere on October 10.
(Photo: NBCU)
Horror icon Bruce Campbell guest stars in Hysteria! as the town’s police chief, so you know it’s going to be good.
Here’s everything else we know so far about Hysteria!
What is Hysteria About?
Set in the fictional town of Happy Hallow, Michigan, in the 1980s, Hysteria! explores the “satanic panic” of that era.
The story follows a group of high school kids who decide to put the pedal to the metal, literally, by rebranding their heavy metal band as a Satanic metal band.
Why would they do such a devilish thing?...

In the fall of 1971, John Lennon and Yoko Ono moved into an apartment on 105 Bank Street in the West Village of Manhattan. It had been two years since Lennon told his Beatles bandmates that he wanted “a divorce,” and the recently married couple craved a fresh start in America away from the oppressive shadow of the group he founded. By this point, Lennon and Ono’s lives were completely intertwined—they were not merely lovers, but also close creative collaborators whose artistry was developing in tandem. Her background in the avant-garde and gallery world intermingled with his experience with pop music and celebrity until their work became inseparable from persona. Together they garnered a more focused political conscience as the Vietnam war continued unabated amidst an increasingly fractured, hostile social environment. They wished to put theory into action, to commit to activist politics, and what better place to do that...

For adults of a certain generation, daytime talk shows of the 1980s and 1990s represented all that was right with the world during a sick day home from school.
In an ideal scenario, your parents or caregivers would leave you to your own devices so you could veg out in front of the boob tube all day, munching on your favorite crap snacks and soaking in all the histrionic sensationalism this television genre had to offer. Spontaneous fist fights! Grotty-to-hottie makeovers! Baby daddy paternity tests! (Fun fact: I once attended a taping of Maury “You are not the father” Povich’s Maury in college, and the staff stuffed us with free pizza to entice us to stay through some reality star’s book promotion. Who said bread and circuses are ancient history?)

Veteran journalist Geraldo Rivera has shared his thoughts on Night 1 of the Democratic National Convention, where he noted his worries about Hillary Clinton turning off voters with her speech. Appearing on a panel alongside NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo, Rivera referred to Clinton as “one of the nicest people ever” before giving his honest reaction to her speech and how he thought it might have given voters flashbacks to the 2016 presidential election. “Hillary in person is one of the nicest people ever. She’s always so gracious. I see her on 46th Street going to the restaurants there in restaurants row and they’re at the theater. She’s so pleasant and so caring,” Rivera said, per Mediaite. The former Fox News host added that Clinton did a “pretty good job” with her speech at the DNC in Chicago’s United Center on Monday evening but said he was concerned about the Democrats’ message getting lost.

Phil Donahue, the celebrated King of Daytime Talk who altered the direction of talk television as host of the syndicated “The Phil Donahue Show” and later the redubbed “Donahue” for nearly three decades, died Sunday evening (August 18) following a long and undisclosed illness. He was 88 and surrounded by family, including his wife of 44 years, the actor, producer, author and social activist Marlo Thomas.
From 1969 when his show was picked up for national syndication until leaving the air in 1996, Donahue presided as the unquestioned pioneer of a type of television discussion that for the first time incorporated studio audience interaction as an intrinsic part of the mix. That audience was predominantly packed with women whose opinions were taken seriously. Both “Phil Donahue” and “Donahue” were by design swathed in controversial, issue-driven topics. He was the first to give voice to gay rights activists, feminists and antiwar protestors as well as abortion rights advocates and opponents.

In "The Simpsons" episode "Krusty Gets Kancelled", local TV star Krusty the Clown (Dan Castellaneta) finds that his show is losing viewers to "The Gabbo Show," a newly launched ventriloquist show on another channel. Within a matter of weeks, Gabbo eclipses Krusty, siphoning off the Klown's many celebrity guests and notable cartoon segment "The Itchy & Scratchy Show." Krusty tries to stay afloat with the animated Soviet import "Worker & Parasite," but the magic is missing. Krusty quickly runs out of money thanks to his gambling addiction, and seemingly goes to pot.
Luckily, the plucky Bart Simpson (Nancy Cartwright) encourages Krusty to get back on his feet and stage a star-studded comeback special. Krusty assembles a rogue's gallery of famous people, including Luke Perry (his miserable half-brother), Hugh Hefner, Bette Midler, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Donald Trump is in his “Reputation” era.
The former president muses about pop princess Taylor Swift in a new book about his years as a reality star, “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,” written by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.
When Setoodeh asked Trump his thoughts on the musical mastermind in November 2023, he was effusive in his praise — of her appearance, that is.
“I think she’s beautiful — very beautiful! I find her very beautiful. I think she’s liberal. She probably doesn’t like Trump. I hear she’s very talented,” he said. “I think she’s very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!”
Swift had been rumored to be a secret Republican during the 2016 election cycle, before she publicly endorsed Tennessee Democratic candidates Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives in 2018.

Will Ronna McDaniel land another TV gig? There is already interest in the former Republican National Committee chair brewing from a couple of cable news outlets.
Sources at both Newsmax and NewsNation tell The Hollywood Reporter that they would be interested in pursuing a deal with McDaniel, should she ultimately finalize a separation agreement with NBC News.
McDaniel has been seeking a lawyer to negotiate an exit from NBC, which announced her hire as an NBC News contributor last Friday and reversed course just a few days later after facing backlash from MSNBC stars like Rachel Maddow and the Morning Joe team, not to mention an on-air rebuke from Chuck Todd on Meet the Press just minutes after McDaniel’s debut appearance.
McDaniel is likely to receive a hefty payout from NBC, given her two-year, $300,000 per year deal, though sometimes negotiations result in a lower payout in exchange for a shorter noncompete.

“Cheech and I were on the Paramount lot after we’d done the movie, and we’re kind of trying to figure out what we were going to do next— how we were going to get another movie going,” remembers Tommy Chong of the weeks following the 1978 release of Up in Smoke, the first film from him and comedy partner Cheech Marin. “And Warren Beatty, pulls up in his convertible. He took off his sunglasses and looked at us and he goes, ‘You guys have no idea what you’ve done.’ And we looked at each other like thinking, ‘Oh, what did we do?’ What we did was we pulled a movie out of thin air.”
Up in Smoke, which was made independently by principals with no filmmaking experience, grossed over $100 million at the box office, simultaneously launching and proving the commercial value of the genre, all in one go.

“Geraldo is a legendary journalist whose talent and experience is unrivaled in the industry,” said Michael Corn, president of news at NewsNation, in a statement. “We look forward to him joining the network and providing our viewers with his one-of-a-kind analysis.”
Rivera left Fox News last year after he and “Five” co-anchor Greg Gutfeld seemed to be clashing on camera more frequently and as executives at the network felt Rivera’s time at the Fox Corp.

Geraldo Rivera is the latest network news veteran to join NewsNation, as the Nexstar network has hired him as correspondent at large.
Rivera’s first appearance in that role will be on Cuomo this evening, the primetime show hosted by Chris Cuomo, the former CNN host. Rivera will appear on the network’s daytime and nighttime programming.
Rivera left Fox News last year, after 22 years at the network. He said that the network fired him as a regular on its top rated The Five. He said he had a “toxic relationship” with one of the co-hosts, presumed to be Greg Gutfeld, and criticized Tucker Carlson when he was still at the network for his claim that the attack on the Capitol was an “inside job.”

Jon Rosen, a longtime WME agent and executive who has represented some of TV’s best known news anchors and celebrity chefs, is leaving the Endeavor-owned agency to launch his own management firm, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Rosen, who represents NBC News’ Stephanie Ruhle, Willie Geist and Hallie Jackson as well as CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, is set to manage many of his current clients, according to one of these people, and they are expected to retain WME as an agency. A WME spokesperson did not respond immediately to a query seeking comment and Rosen could not be reached immediately for comment via a call Wednesday.
His exit comes as WME parent Endeavor has come under new scrutiny on Wall Street. The company, which recently helped create the combat-sports company Tko, suggested in October that it might consider going private.

Update: This was the last debate of 2023 and, with polling showing Donald Trump still holds a commanding lead, it doesn’t appear that he has paid any price for bypassing these events.
He’s dismissed the debates as irrelevant, but save for a few mentions from Chris Christie and Ron DeSantis, none of his rivals have really gone full throttle in attacking him for skipping the events. Trump was the topic of discussion at points on Wednesday night, but those moments were largely overshadowed by the candidates attacking each other.
When moderators asked about the former president’s statement that he would be a dictator on day one of a second term, Christie attacked Trump, but Vivek Ramaswamy seemed to want to out-Trump Trump. Rather than attacking the former president, Ramaswamy labeled Nikki Haley a “fascist” for saying that she wanted verification of social media accounts.

Nicole Newnham’s The Disappearance of Shere Hite is so packed with ideas, timelines, and input from various participants that a documentary twice as long would have been justified. Such is the significance of Shere Hite’s life and writings in the 1970s and ’80s on the subject of sex, particularly women’s bodies and how they typically achieve orgasm.
Hite’s 1976 book The Hite Report has become an all-time bestseller, in large part due to the controversy it sparked following its publication. While the film’s title initially suggests a mystery, Newnham’s remarkable use of archival footage, especially of Hite being ceaselessly berated on talk shows, composes such a clear and coherent portrait of her eventual exile from American culture that the film becomes a furious indictment of an openly repressive society.
While Newnham takes a mostly linear approach to explaining the trajectory of Hite’s research and fame,...
