Juan David Restrepo
- Actor
- Writer
Due to his parents revolutionary politics much of Juan David's
childhood was spent in hiding, often in the dark of "los cines" where
the fear of drug cartels and guerrilla warfare was overpowered by the
enchantment and magic of movies. As long as he can remember Juan David
wanted to be an actor, and at the age of 15, while performing in a
school play, he attracted the attention of a scout from International
Models. Subsequently he appeared in many ads, most notably for Deisel,
Unlimited and Francois Girbaud, including a featured spread in "Numero"
which attracted the attention of the producers of his first starring
role in films, "Our Lady of the Assassins". Juan David then attended
German Jaramillo's Free Theatre School on full scholarship and went on
to appear in many Colombian theatre and television productions
including a season of "Francisco el matematico", 2 guest appearances on
"Historias de hombres solo para mujeres", and a featured role on
"Siguiendo el Raftro". Juan David is currently filming "El Don", the
first installment in Jose Ramon Novoa's Pablo Escobar trilogy. "Punto y
Raya" directed by Elia Schneider, in which he appears as Sargeant
Requena, will be released in the United States in December 2003. When
not on acting assignments Juan David teaches modeling techniques,
develops scripts, produces and directs short films.
