Reality TV has become a staple of culture. It is a highly bingeable drama with 'everyday people' brought on to compete for money, fame, or notoriety. This has led to shows like Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Big Brother spanning decades and becoming worldwide phenomena with their spin-offs and an obsessive fanbase. One of these landmark reality TV shows that started in Belgium and became a hit worldwide was Del Mol, better known in America as The Mole.

It’s undoubtedly one of the most fiercely debated questions in all of sports: Is today’s brand of NBA basketball better or worse than during the Michael Jordan-led heyday of the 1990s? While discerning sports fans can disagree, there is perhaps no one better equipped to dive into the particulars of that question than longtime NBA journalist (and former NFL All-Pro wide receiver) Ahmad Rashad.
“The thing is about Michael, if you ever ask him, ‘Who’s better you or LeBron?’, you know what his answer is?” Rashad asked The Streamable this week. “‘You can’t compare; we never played against each other, so we’ll never know.’ That’s his answer. It’s one of those things that is a good ‘have a beer’ at a bar argument. Enjoy yourself with the argument and nobody’s wrong. You’re both right!”

Alex Wagner hosted Season 1 of the reboot; it is unknown whether she will return for Season 2. Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, Rikkie Proost, David Tibballs and David Burris serve as executive producers, and Eureka Productions produces. Netflix is doubling down on deception: The Mole has been renewed for Season 2, the streamer announced Wednesday.
In the series, players work together to complete missions that add money to a group pot — but among them is “the mole,” a player pre-chosen to sabotage their earning efforts. Players are later quizzed, and the person knowing the least about the mole’s true identity is eliminated.

“The Mole” is your next reality TV obsession.
Netflix has rebooted the competition series, which originally premiered in 2001 on ABC. Anderson Cooper, Ahmad Rashad, and Jon Kelley hosted throughout the series’ seven-year run. Alex Wagner hosts the Netflix reboot, which is now streaming.
The basic premise of “The Mole” is that a group of contestants complete various physical and mental challenges in order to win cash prizes — but one of them is a mole, tasked by producers with sabotaging the missions and not getting caught by the other competitors. Each mission includes twists where contestants can add more money to their collective prize pot or personal gain, as well as risk losing it all for the group. After each mission, contestants take a quiz to see how much they know about the mole, and the person with the most wrong answers is eliminated.

Mention “The Mole” to virtually anyone who works in reality TV, and their eyes light up. For a show that hasn’t been seen on U.S. television since 2008 — and only aired five editions in total — “The Mole” has nonetheless achieved a near-mythical status in the annals of unscripted TV history.
““I grew up watching them all on television, and it was one of my all-time favorite reality shows,” says Eureka Prods. CEO Chris Culvenor. “It’s probably one of the most beloved formats that is out there, not just in this country, but worldwide. It combines a sense of adventure, with a sort of ‘Ocean’s 11’/’Mission Impossible’-style caper. People love a mystery. I think that is what was the appeal of the original.”
“The Mole” centers on 12 contestants who must solve challenges in order to add money to a pot — which one of them will win in the end.

Netflix is reviving a cult favorite from the early days of the reality TV boom.
The streamer has ordered a new version of The Mole, a competition series in which one player — the “mole” — works to undermine the others. The series, based on a Belgian format, aired for five seasons on ABC, with the last coming in 2008.
Eureka Productions (Holey Moley, Name That Tune) is behind the new version, which is slated to debut on Netflix in the fall. In the show, 12 contestants work together on a series of challenges that, if completed successfully, add money to a prize pot that only one of them will win. The mole, meanwhile, tries to sabotage the other players’ efforts while maintaining their cover as a regular player.
The Netflix show was filmed last year in Australia, per reports at the time from Reality Blurred and Buzzer Blog.

It was just yesterday that we shared the news with you guys that filming has begun on Space Jam 2 starring LeBron James. And today we have word that original Space Jam star Charles Barkley isn't a fan of the idea of the upcoming sequel. The basketball legend spoke his peace at the 2019 NBA Awards on Monday night when he was asked if he was interested in the upcoming live-action/animation sequel, he said this.
"Not at all. Well, listen, I don't care. Space Jam 1 was amazing. We don't need 2."
This quote seems to be keeping with what Charles Barkley said last year at the same event, where he said this.
"Space Jam 1 was a classic. I don't like when people try to imitate something that was already good."
For those who didn't grow up in the '90s, the original Space Jam starred superstar Michael Jordan as himself, who...

In her confident, crafty eyes and free-flowing cadences, Condola Rashad — daughter of Phylicia and Ahmad Rashad — more than slightly recalls the style of Denzel Washington in her commanding performance in “Bikini Moon”; she’s easily the most appealing thing about this latest effort from Milcho Manchevski, best known for 1994’s Venice Golden Lion-winning “Before the Rain.” The new movie, a fictional character study that doubles as an inquiry into nonfiction filmmaking techniques, is a patchy, intermittently captivating hodgepodge that begins promisingly before losing its narrative thread, a shortcoming that figures to curtail its theatrical prospects. Nevertheless, it’s a promising showcase for Rashad, who (presently seen on Showtime’s “Billions”) is more than up to the leading-lady challenge.
“Bikini Moon” is comprised of footage shot from numerous faux-verité sources, including security cams and cell phones. Its most consistent perspective, however, comes via the cameras of pretentious documentarian Trevor (Will Janowitz...

ESPN Films’ 20-hour, six-week documentary “Basketball: A Love Story” more resembles a modern rom-com than your typical documentary. Rather than a chronological history lesson, it’s an episodic collection of anecdotes and stories that in some ways have more in common with “Love, Actually” than Ken Burns’ completist “Baseball.”
The film weaves through the heartbreaking story of paralyzed player Maurice Stokes and his dedicated teammate Jack Twyman to the bitter women’s basketball rivalry of Tennessee’s Pat Summit and Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma to tales of UCLA’s rise, the Dream Team, the Magic/Bird rivalry, the Aba and the emergence of international stars in the NBA with plenty of stops in-between.
“My film is not a history of basketball, because 20 hours is not even close to long enough,” says director Dan Klores. “But it’s historical so there is a lot of stuff that is not obvious. I...

When in France, right? Michael Jordan proved he's too classy to drink beer with the normies at major sporting events -- instead, he sips from his own bottle of fancy wine. Mj was in the VIP suites at the Paris Saint-Germain vs. Reims game in Paris on Wednesday -- where he watched Neymar dominate in a 4-1 victory at Parc des Princes stadium. He also apparently brought in his own bottle of red. Guessing they waived the corkage fee.

One of O.J. Simpson's former BFFs is giving his alleged big-screen return 2 thumbs down -- telling TMZ Sports there ain't a chance Juice gets loose in Hollywood again. Oh how I wish the title of this article could be different. Sadly when England come up against Germany in any competition (especially in a semi-final) there’s a good chance it will end in defeat. Sad but true. Before the game, I let myself get carried away thinking of different titles for this piece on English football, such as ‘England’s Bright Future’, or ‘Bring on Russia’. But unfortunately as soon as the referee blew his whistle for the end of extra time, the title wrote itself.
After the major success of England winning the U20 ‘s World Cup, the nation inevitably turned their attention to the U21’s European Championships. The U20’s 1-0 win over Venezuela meant it was England’s biggest international title since Bobby Moore lifted the World Cup in 1966. That’s depressing. Not taking anything away from the U20’s impressive feat, but surely...

Daniel Gordon’s latest documentary, on the life of the irresistible, troubled footballer George Best, begins with an anecdote of the Manchester United legend in his later years, ambling, drunk, in the middle of the street in the pouring rain, a mere shadow of the man who once adorned the turf of Old Trafford. While recent documentaries on Paul Gascoigne and Bobby Moore avoided the destructive nature, and less illuminating years of the subject’s lives, Gordon signals his intentions from the offset, with the tragic elements to the great man’s life a paramount focus, as prevalent within this endeavour as the glory – and what transpires is a truly compelling piece of cinema.

In the final episode of go90’s sports mockumentary “The 5th Quarter,” Adam Pally (“The Mindy Project”) and Jim O’Heir (“Parks and Recreation”) guest star as defenders of the unfortunately named sports team, the Sheboygan Jews. The short form online comedy blends big name comedy talent with major athlete cameos to tell parody sports documentaries in a smart premise that is perfectly pitched for the growing online platform.
In addition to Pally and O’Heir, comedians like J.B. Smoove, Jerry O’Connell, Chris Parnell, and George Lopez all appear in the series. On the athlete side, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is joined by sportscasters Kenny Mayne and Ahmad Rashad, Los Angeles Clipper Blake Griffin, former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman, Olympic figure skating gold medalist Tara Lipinski, and many more.

★★★☆☆ It would take a very hard-hearted soul not to well up a little upon seeing stalwart football commentator Jonathan Pearce recount, with tears in his eyes and half-time orange-sized lump in his throat, the last words he ever exchanged with the late, great Bobby Moore. Fans across the country may have endured half a century of hurt, the anguish of critical red cards and missed penalties, but Bobby tells the astronomical highs and many lows of a shy East End lad who knew the true meaning of fame through hard graft, and reaped both its rewards and ill-effects. Unlike the treatment he would receive at the hands of the Fa - not to mention his beloved West Ham - later in his career, Ron Scapello's loving biopic is a respectful and fitting tribute to the only Englishman to ever lift the Jules Rimet trophy.

It’s might be less than cinematic, but who could begrudge the World Cup-winning England captain his own adulatory documentary?
If you can bear another blow-by-blow account of English football’s finest hour, this is as good a time as any, and nobody could begrudge Bobby Moore his documentary closeup. In film-making terms, it’s very much route one: archive clips, talking heads, nothing fancy. And being a defender, Moore’s heroics are inherently less cinematic than, say, a Pelé or Cristiano Ronaldo. But if there’s any evidence Moore was ever less than a cool-headed leader on the pitch and an East End gent off it, this adulatory doc doesn’t find it. It does, at least, acknowledge his later problems: insomnia, depression, bankruptcy, cancer and, perhaps most painful of all, cruel rejection by the football establishment, which saw him reduced to managing non-league clubs and commentating on local radio.

Fabricio Coloccini signed for Newcastle United from Deportivo La Coruna in 2008 for £10.3 million and has been an almost ever-present feature at the very heart of the Magpies’ defence for the past seven years.
Despite another 32 league appearances last season, it has been a long time since we have seen the same Coloccini who captained Newcastle United to a fifth-place Premier League finish during the 2011-12 season. Yes, there are glimpses of that form now and again; the famous feathered touch that prompted Alan Pardew to liken the defender to Bobby Moore is still in the 33-year-old’s locker – but it’s currently squashed beneath a pile of fitness question marks, memories, arguments, managers, a fraying captain’s armband and a tourist guide to South London.

As Only Connect and University Challenge return to the BBC for new series, we salute the geek comforts of UK TV quiz shows…
Never mind A.E. Housman’s maxim that “all human knowledge is precious whether or not it serves the slightest human use”, no knowledge is really precious until it serves the slightest use watching a TV quiz. Earlier this week, while on Ahmad Rashad’s popular sports podcast, NBA great Michael Jordan was asked an innocent question: “Who would be on your dream golf team?” Jordan quickly named Arnold Palmer before wistfully naming President Barack Obama and quickly taking it back and criticizing the President’s golf game.
“I’ve never played with Obama, but I would,” Jordan said. “But, nah, that’s ok. I’ll take him out. He’s a hack. Man, I’d be all day playing with him.”
“Do you really want to say that?” Rashad said. “The President of the United States is a hack?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Jordan shot back with a grin. “I never said he’s wasn’t a great politician, I just said he’s shitty golfer.”

Football is becoming more and more about money by the day, and in turn this is separating the bigger clubs from smaller clubs more and more too. The size of a club used to be entirely based on success and silverware, whereas no it is becoming too easy to buy success and with takeovers happening left, right and centre, there are many new additions to the top clubs in the world.
What then, separates these clubs from one another? The answer is of course their history, and no other club has a history quite like West Ham United. Our biggest achievement is of course successfully “winning” the World Cup in 1966. I jest, but the actuality of the situation is that Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst; three of West Ham’s greatest players at the time; played a major part in securing England’s only World Cup triumph.

Without doubt one of the coolest pieces of exclusive content are the Legends on FIFA Ultimate Team, available only to Xbox and Xbox One gamers. These historical powerhouses of the beautiful game make many of today’s players look distinctively unimpressive; indeed, Pelé’s 95 rating means that he is even better than Lionel Messi (now rated 93 on FIFA 15). The inclusion of 15 new Legends means that the roster is better than ever before, now boasting the likes of Bobby Moore, Franz Beckenbauer and Peter Schmeichel.
The jealousy coming from FIFA-addicted Playstation owners who wished they could add Pelé to their Ultimate Team is understandably rife. However, the Xbox-exclusive content isn’t without its faults. Even with the new additions to the roster, there are still several notable absentees who have inexplicably been overlooked once again.
Of course it would be an impossible task to include all of the sport’s historical greats.
