Gholamreza Ramezani is one of the acclaimed children and young adults' movie director, who was born in 1960 in Arak, Iran.
He started writing short stories and playwrights, stage acting and directing from school years by which he achieved several awards. After school he began his professional career as an assistant director in television network IRIB and cinema, Amir Naderi's "The Runner" in particular.
Subsequently He made his TV series like "Little witnesses", "Springs in spring", "the night in the train", "Grandmas' school" in addition to some short films.
In 1992 he made his feature film directorial debut with 'Passing the trap' which was nominated for the best director in Fajr film festival; and his second movie "The cart" was more noteworthy and was awarded in various international children's film festivals including:
Golden Elephant Film Festival,
Zlin Film Festival,
Lucus International Children Film Festival,
And Children Film Festival "Blue Bird".
His third movie "Hayat" (Life) became a sensation and received a number of awards such as:
the Special Prize of city of Zlin,
UNICEF Award, CIFEJ Award, SIGNIS Award, Children Audience Award in Divercine,
the Special Jury Award from Cinekid (Children Film Festival Amsterdam),
the Jury Special Mention in Buenos Aires Children Film Festival,
the International Jury Award as the Best Film in Madrid Children Film Festival,
Children's Jury Award for the Most Popular Film in Golden Elephant Children Film Festival,
the Best Director Award and best Actress in Listapad in Minsk International Film Festival,
the Young Jury Prize as the Best Film in Isatanbul International Children Film Festival
and, best director and best screenwriter in the International Film Festival for Children and Youth in Iran.
Besides his other movies have been nominated and awarded in other children and young adults
He was a jury member and a selection committee member in several Iranian and international film festivals.
Up to now He has made ten feature films which are for children and young adults , twelve TV series and twenty short films.
