"I'm a ghost living in my purgatory." Gravitas has revealed an official trailer for a movie called Tomorrow Before After, a post-apocalyptic one-woman-alone survival thriller from filmmaker Alfonso Quijada. This is skipping theaters and will open on VOD directly in late August before the end of the summer. Colombian actress Natalia Reyes (seen in Running with the Devil and Terminator: Dark Fate) stars in the one-and-only role, along with a doggie named Lobo (which translates to "Wolf" in Spanish), played by a pooch named Blake. In a post-apocalyptic world, a young woman, with the help of an abandoned dog searches for other survivors while trying to cope with an unborn child growing inside of her. She wonders: how could she be pregnant? What does it all mean? Is this a post-apocalyptic version of the story of Mary? Or is it something else? This footage doesn't look bad, and the dog seems legit,...

Alfonso Quijada’s feature follows a young woman gifted with an extraordinary sense of smell. It looks great, but fails to satisfy
This drama from El Salvador has several commendable features, starting with a tender, sympathetic central performance from Laura Osma as Josefina, a sweet young woman who discovers she has an exceptional sense of smell. However, something doesn’t quite smell right about the way the film clumsily layers uplift and violence, served up with excessively stylised visuals and sound. It’s as if writer-director Alfonso Quijada, better known hitherto as an actor and producer, doesn’t know if he wants to make a telenovela-style melodrama or something more elevated and arty – in the tradition of Claudia Llosa’s The Milk of Sorrow or Lila Avilés’s films The Chambermaid and Tótem – with long takes and oblique storytelling strategies. In the end, it fails to satisfy either ambition.

Exclusive: Natalia Reyes has signed on to star in Tomorrow Before After, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that is scheduled to start shooting this month in Colombia.
The film, from writer/director Alfonso Quijada (El Suspiro del Silencio), centers on a woman with no name (played by Reyes) who struggles to survive on her own in a post-apocalyptic world, searching for others, with only a stray dog by her side.
In her quest, she collides with a world that is collapsed and utterly destroyed, and it seems, for a long time, that she is the only survivor in the world—until she discovers one day that she is pregnant. Not understanding how this could be possible, she then begins to question her own existence.
Chad Barager and Ian Ihnatowycz are producing Tomorrow Before After through Barager’s Apollo Pictures and Ihnatowycz’s First Generation Capital.

If you click on over to Bdtv you'll find your very, very first look at Twisted Pictures' The Tortured, a new thriller under the helm of Rob Lieberman (who freaked me out with Fire in the Sky). In the film starring Erika Christensen, Bill Moseley, Jesse Metcalfe, Fulvio Cecere, Alfonso Quijada, Chelah Horsdal and Thomas Greenwood, a young professional couples perfect life is shattered when their young son is abducted by a murderer who slips through the judicial system, forcing them to create their own justice. The Tortured stars Erika Christensen who played Michael Douglas drug addicted daughter in the Oscar-winning film Traffic. Opposite Christensen, the lead actor role is played by Jesse Metcalfe, who is well known for his role in ABCs Desperate Housewives and his lead role in 20th Century Foxs John Tucker Must Die.
