Lucy Watson, best known for starring in Made in Chelsea, has joined stand-up comedians, sports personalities and musicians in encouraging the public to try veganism this June.

Celebrities including Lucy Watson, former star of MTV’s Dirty Sanchez Matthew Pritchard, stand-up comedian Carl Donnelly, and YouTube personality Luke Cutforth (otherwise known as LukeIsNotSexy) have backed Animal Aid’s Summer Vegan Pledge.

Animal Aid’s first Summer Vegan Pledge is a month-long vegan pledge which encourages non-vegans to try a plant-based diet for the month. Participants are given all of the help and advice that they need.

Eighteen film and TV screenplays have been shortlisted for the inaugural Gateway La Script Development Program launched by Australians in Film (AiF).

The winner will get a cash prize to facilitate development of the script, a flight to Los Angeles, meetings with producers and executives and table reads.

AiF will announce the winner and runners-up, who will form an .Aussie List., determined by a panel of expert judges, and the value of the cash, in a month.

The projects were selected from more than 500 scripts submitted to the L.A.-based Australian entertainment industry guild. The program aims to provide Australians living and working in the Us with more opportunities for support and resources and to help Australian projects secure exposure to the best networks in the business.

Baywatch star David Hasselhoff jumped behind the wheel of a top sports car on Friday and revved up his engine as the Gumball 3000 Rally kicked off in New York's Times Square.

The actor, rapper Eve and Welsh prankster Matthew Pritchard, star of British TV series Dirty Sanchez, are among a number of famous faces taking part in the 3,000-mile (4,828-kilometre) race from New York to Los Angeles, which will see 120 drivers speed across America by 31 May.

Hasselhoff posed with his black Maserati in the Big Apple tourist spot as competitors lined up for the flag drop and he showed off a photo of himself and his car to fans on his Twitter.com blog.

In the accompanying caption, he wrote, "Gumball is on! Look out for car number 2! Team hoffballer gumball300 (sic)".

Hasselhoff and Eve are no strangers to the big race - they both took part in the Gumball 3000 Rally in Europe last year.

BBC Three has ordered a fourth series of Snog, Marry, Avoid? The "makeunder" show, hosted by Jenny Frost, encourages people to return to a more natural look. The MTV2 schedule for the month of May is packed with hot specials, new series and blockbuster films. Program highlights include the new series "Dirty Sanchez," crazy stunt-filled "Nitro Circus Hits and Misses" and the globetrotting concert special "World Stage."

"Dirty Sanchez" follows the adrenaline-heavy antics of professional skateboarders Matthew Pritchard and Lee Dainton and their equally daring cohorts Michael "Pancho" Locke and Dan Joyce.
