Valentin Platareanu was born on 15 November 1936 in Bucuresti, Romania. He was an actor, known for Santaj (1981), Klemperer - Ein Leben in Deutschland (1999) and Oil (1977). He died on 16 April 2019 in Germany.

Father of <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm0487884/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Alexandra Maria Lara</a>.

Before emigrating to Germany, he was the vice director of the Bucharest State Theatre.

In 1992 founded the Charlottenburg Drama School in Berlin, Germany.

Speaks Romanian, English, French, German and Russian fluently.

He fled communist Romania with his family in 1983.
