Buddy Morra, the former talent manager who at one time handled comedians as Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Robert Klein, JoAnn Worley, David Letterman, Martin Mull, Jim Carrey, Marty Short, Dana Carvey, Paula Poundstone, Dick Cavett, Woody Allen, Tom Poston, John Pizzarelli, Michael Feinsten, Michael Richards, and Jake Johannsen (among others) has died. The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel has announced the line-up of performers for the upcoming season at the legendary Cafe Carlyle. Following Debby Boone's engagement from March 19-30th, the Cafe Carlyle will host the John Pizzarelli Quartet with special guest Bucky Pizzarelli, Paul Williams, Steve Tyrell, Lea Salonga, Rossano Sportiello, and John Lloyd Young for back to back engagements into June. Woody Allen amp the Eddy Davis New Orleans Jazz Band will continue with their Monday night spot until June 17th.

The 1939 classic film "The Wizard of Oz" is celebrating its 70th anniversary with the formation of a foundation that aims to provide audiences the unique opportunity to study the compositions of Harold Arlen, the composer of the film's signature song "Over the Rainbow."
The Harold Arlen Foundation aims to preserve and strengthen the life of the American Pop Standard by educating, inspiring, and enriching the community with his music.
It already delivers its free music outreach program to public junior and high schools in Las Vegas. "Over the Rainbow: The Master Class" is being taught by Sam Arlen and recording artist George Bugatti, who will deliver the jazz music classes to thousands of school children within the Clark County School District this fall.

Sillerman takes on comedy

NEW YORK -- Robert F.X. Sillerman's CKX Inc. is entering the comedy market with an agreement, unveiled Wednesday, to acquire talent management firm Morra, Brezner, Steinberg & Tenenbaum Entertainment for about $11 million in stock and cash. MBST represents such talent as Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, Woody Allen, Jim Norton and Jeff Ross and also produces TV shows and films. The firm's roster also includes jazz legend John Pizzarelli and director Bob Weide. CKX said it plans to enter long-term employment contracts with MBST principals Larry Brezner, David Steinberg and Steve Tenenbaum, under which they will remain responsible for running the day-to-day operations of MBST under the CKX umbrella.
