Standing before technicolor stained glass, her golden curls gleaming, Adrienne Beaufort (Miranda Otto) resembles a saint. She preaches her gospel to a room full of acolytes, decrying materialism and urging the washing away of sin. Then she showcases what might one day be the crowning achievement of her spiritual movement: her family of nearly a dozen children. Most of them have had their hair dyed platinum blond and chopped into harsh bangs and bobs—crude reflections of Adrienne’s own exquisite styling. “They are as pure and untainted as it is possible to be,” Adrienne says to the crowd. “A generation raised away from the suffocating rules of society. Nurtured under the most perfect conditions.”

Adapted by Matt Cameron and Elise McCredie from J.P. Pomare’s 2019 novel In the Clearing, Hulu’s The Clearing is inspired by the real-life Australian cult known as “The Family,” which operated in the latter half of the 20th century.

Industry veteran Dov Kornits has launched Australian distribution outfit Screen Inc and unveiled a raft of titles including Cannes Critics’ Week award-winner Olga.

Former All Saints and Home and Away star Jolene Anderson is playing a key role in the second series of Hoodlum Entertainment’s Harrow, which is now shooting in Brisbane.

Ioan Gruffudd returns as the brilliant but flawed forensic pathologist Dr Daniel Harrow in the show created by Stephen Irwin and Leigh McGrath, alongside Robyn Malcolm, Darren Gilshenan, Hunter Page-Lochard, Ella Newton, Damien Garvey and Anna Lise Phillips. Missing is Mirrah Foulkes, who played Soraya Dass, Harrow’s love interest, in the first series.

Anderson is Harrow’s new colleague, a forensic pathologist named Grace, in the crime drama commissioned by the ABC and ABC Studios International.

ABC Studios International has landed U.S. distribution for its crime drama series Harrow, starring Ioan Gruffudd. The show will premiere on the domestic streaming platform, co-owned by Comcast, Fox and Disney, on September 7.

The Australian series was Disney’s international TV production division’s first global commission. The second, crime drama Reef Break, toplined by Poppy Montgomery, was recently picked up by U.S.’ ABC for next summer.

Exclusive: Production underway on thriller sold by Bankside, distributed by Madman.

Principal photography is underway in Australia on writer-director Michael Petroni’s sophomore thriller Backtrack, starring Adrien Brody and Sam Neill (seen in this exclusive first image from the feature).

Shooting commenced in Sydney on Jan 6 and is scheduled to wrap in mid-Feb. Filming will take place in Sydney as well as the Central West region of New South Wales.

The film follows a psychologist whose life is thrown into chaos when he discovers his patients are all ghosts of people who died in an accident 20 years prior.

Jamie Hilton (The Waiting City, Sleeping Beauty) is producing for See Pictures alongside Antonia Barnard (The Painted Veil, The Quiet American) and Petroni.

UK outfit Bankside will commence sales on the thriller at the Efm in Berlin next month. Madman Entertainment will distribute in Australia and New Zealand.

While characters of Revolution try to find a way to recover the world's power, NBC is trying to recover their ratings power. If the TV series can help them or not will ultimately determine if the show is cancelled or renewed for a second season.

The show's large cast includes Billy Burke, Tracy Spiridakos, Anna Lise Phillips, Graham Rogers, Jd Pardo, Zak Orth, Maria Howell, David Lyons, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Guinee, Elizabeth Mitchell, Derek Webster, and Daniella Alonso.

The first season of Revolution typically airs Monday nights at 10pm. NBC has ordered 13 20 episodes. Below are the TV show's latest ratings for the first season, the best way to tell if Revolution will stick around long enough for the series' storyline to conclude.

Last week’s midseason premiere of Revolution really turned up the action, tension, explosions, and badassery. What a difference some power can make. Revolution was at WonderCon last weekend and had a terrific trailer for the rest of the season, which they have very kindly shared with us.

It feels like the show has really taken a turn towards action and intrigue.

Death came to "Revolution" again in the shocking ending to midseason premiere episode "The Stand." We're only halfway through Season 1 and the show has already lost its second full-time cast member, now that Danny (Graham Rogers) has joined Maggie (Anna Lise Phillips) as casualties of the increasingly dangerous rebellion.

"I think it's exactly the right type of shocking development that really ramps everybody up emotionally for their mission in the second half of the season," showrunner Eric Kripke says of the decision to kill off Danny. "It emotionally escalates everything."

Poor Danny had only recently been reunited with his mother Rachel (Elizabeth Mitchell), sister Charlie (Tracy Spiridakos) and uncle Miles (Billy Burke) before he bravely faced off against an attacking Monroe militia helicopter and saved the rebels by shooting it down. As the copter came crashing down out of control, Danny was struck and killed by the spray of bullets.

Oh, I see what they did there. The five-part web series posted by NBC in support of its midseason premiere of Revolution concludes with this final installment, which as you will see does a nice job of tying the whole web series to both the premiere of the series and tonight’s midseason premiere. Nicely done, Revolution people, a terrific prequel to both the series and tonight’s midseason premiere – which is excellent, by the way, easily one of the best episodes to date. Enjoy that too, now that you have this little nugget of Revolution knowledge to add to your appreciation.

If you have heard about this J.J. Abrams show Revolution on NBC but have never given it a try, now’s the time because tonight is the midseason premiere, and it’s a good one. You’ll just need to know a couple of things. You may remember that this is the show that takes place 15 years after a permanent power outage has taken place all over the world. Not only is all artificial power gone, but all engines have been rendered inoperable. The regular governments fell, and areas have been taken over by despotic generals.

Why then, you may be wondering, does the first scene of the midseason premiere begin (as the first half ended) with a helicopter chasing down our starring group? That’s because at the end of the first half of the season, the bad guy, General Monroe (David Lyons), former best friend of our group...

These Revolution prequel webisodes have been interesting, but this latest one has me even more intrigued. The description says “After completing his investigation, will Neville’s unquenchable curiosity put his life in danger?” And what are the chances that we’ll be given the answer to that question before the midseason premiere of Revolution, which is, finally, next Monday?

Last week’s first episode of the new live-action webseries in support of NBC‘s Revolution, entitled Revolution: Enemies of the State, was a good first step in helping us fill in what happened when Miles first broke up the Miles/Monroe bromance. This week’s episode follow’s Captain Neville’s path to discover the insider who helped Miles with the attempted assassination.

The Wheatley letters were great, but this new live action web series from NBC’s Revolution is more of my kind of thing. The web series takes place 11 years after the blackout and four years before most of the main series. General Monroe (David Lyons) has just survived the first assassination attempt made by Miles Matheson (Billy Burke). He calls on Captain Neville (Giancarlo Esposito) to hunt down who else could have been involved in the plot. This first episode really sets the tone for the series. I can’t wait to see what else is in store.

Wheatley has been a tortured soul through all of this mess. He talks in this letter about even being forced to fight against his own people to keep his cover. Maybe you figured it out already, but Wheatley is a character we’ve seen before and in this episode we see what may be the end of his timeline. It recalls a moment in Revolution Episode 9, “Kashmir,” where these webisodes converge with the show. We will have to see what is in store for us next week.

This week Wheatley begins with a story of how he completely missed the blackout while on a camping trip with his family. They hardly noticed anything different. This story seems to be a reminder of what he’s fighting for, and he writes the letter to remind the resistance to use his information to fight against the militia. This is the fifth in the series of Webisodes for Revolution.

Actually, Wheatley isn’t ever really pleased. He just doesn’t really have anything really nice to say to us these days. He’s still working undercover with the Militia and he’s gotten a recent promotion, so you would think that he would be in a better mood, but even that good news doesn’t stop him from ending his letter on a sour note. I’m still enjoying the way things are going with these webisodes and I’m hoping that Wheatley will be able to complete his mission regardless of actions of those he’s writing to.

It has been a slow burn for NBC freshman show Revolution, but it has progressively gotten better and better, and now that we’ve come to the midseason finale, we are being promised a real gamechanger. We’re always up for big episodes, so bring it on, NBC.
