Stranger Things's Sherman Augustus is leaving the Midwest and heading to the DC Universe. The veteran actor and former NFL player recently joined the cast of Dcu's Lanterns, and is set to portray John Senior, the father of Aaron Pierre's character, John Stewart. John Senior is said to be the sort of parent who holds onto the past and is the definition of stubborn. His role will also be recurring, so viewers will see him often throughout the upcoming HBO drama series based on the DC Green Lantern comic. Augustus joins the show's stars, Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler (who will play Hal Jordan), and Kelly MacDonald, who signed on as the series' regular character Kerry (a sheriff who takes her job very seriously).

A team-up that involves a veteran and their new recruit will always be dramatic and action-packed with a splash of humor here and there.

Production is underway on Lanterns and P-Valley star J. Alphonse Nicholson is the latest addition to the show's cast. According to Deadline, he will play the father of Aaron Pierre's John Stewart.

However, it sounds like his scenes will primarily be flashbacks as the trade notes, "Nicholson will play the young version of John Senior." This comes shortly after we learned Nicole Ari Parker has been tapped to star as the Green Lantern's mother.

While Hal Jordan will also take centre stage in Lanterns, it's not surprising to learn that we'll explore John's background as he's expected to be the Dcu's main Green Lantern moving beyond this Max series.

Nicholson's other screen credits include Just Mercy, They Cloned Tyrone, Mr. Robot, Luke Cage, and Clipped. He reacted to his casting on social media and expressed gratitude for landing the role.

The cast of HBO's Lanterns continues to grow. The newest addition to the DC Universe is reportedly Matlock actor Jason Ritter.

The Lanterns casting was reported by trusted insider Jeff Sneider in his TheInSneider newsletter. Ritter will reportedly play Kelly Macdonald's husband in the Dcu drama series, which is currently in production. Macdonald was cast back in October 2024 as Sheriff Kerry, "a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. Her resilience, shaped by a complex past that’s hardened her resolve, anchors her when the community’s secrets begin to surface." Ritter's reported casting comes less than a week after And Just Like That... star Nicole Ari Parker was tapped to play John Stewart's mother, Bernadette.

Jason Ritter, who wrapped production on CBS’ already-renewed Matlock back in October, has lined up a “super” side hustle, on HBO’s upcoming Green Lantern series.

TVLine can confirm that Ritter has been cast in Lanterns as Billy Macon, “a good-looking charmer who does his father’s bidding,” the official character description tells us. “Capitalizing on his family’s reputation, he clings to his small-town ego and has everything to lose.”

The cast of Lanterns continues to expand as The InSneider brings word today that Jason Ritter (Matlock) has joined the upcoming DC Studios series.

He'll reportedly play the husband of Kelly Macdonald's character; she's been cast as Sheriff Kerry, a character described as "a no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town. Her resilience, shaped by a complex past that’s hardened her resolve, anchors her when the community’s secrets begin to surface."

There had been rumblings about Kerry being a love interest for Hal Jordan, though this news may go some way in debunking that.

Ritter is best known for his Emmy-nominated role in Parenthood. He also counts Gravity Falls, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, and Frozen II among his film and television credits.

Model/actress Nicole Ari Parker has joined the show in the recurring role of Bernadette, mother of John Stewart (Aaron Pierre).

Parker can currently be seen in HBO's And Just Like That, and has also appeared in a number of movies including Blue Streak (1999), Remember the Titans (2000), Brown Sugar (2002), Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008), Black Dynamite (2009), and Almost Christmas (2016).

Variety broke the news of Parker's casting, with her character of Bernadette being described as "formidable and tenacious." A release date for HBO's Lanterns has not been announced at this time, but is planned for release in 2026.

Mehcad Brooks will play an “award-winning editor” who falls for Nicole Ari Parker’s character on “And Just Like That,” the “Law & Order” star recently told TheWrap.

“It’s like ‘When Harry Met Sally?,’ a very quintessential, New York romcom,” he said, referencing Rob Reiner’s romantic 1989 classic. “I love this kind of thing. There’s a lot of really funny interactions and boundary crossing with designer clothes on.”

Brooks, who plays Detective Jalen Shaw on “Law & Order,” explained that even though Parker’s character, the memorably named Lisa Todd Wexley, and his are already married to other people, they find an “undeniable attraction” that leads to “an acrobatic sort of dance” as they get closer.

And Just Like That is teeing up a third season after getting the renewal from Max in August, and Leading Ladies Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) each have their own love lives ahead of them to explore.

The “Sex and the City” alum tweeted that she will not reprise her role for Season 3 of revival series “And Just Like That.” Cattrall briefly appeared in the Season 2 finale in a scene filmed separate from the core cast.

Life & Style reported that Cattrall was set to be back for Season 3, with a source telling the outlet that Cattrall would again film away from the rest of the cast. The publication said HBO was “bending over backwards to pay her an absolute fortune, and it’s all on her terms because she’s so central to the franchise.”

Not true, according to the actress herself.

“Aw that’s so kind but I’m not,” Cattrall commented when an Elle UK article claiming her return was reposted on X.

Fake filming notices have begun popping up around New York City, and subsequently on social media, teasing some wild plot-lines that not even showrunner Michael Patrick King could likely fathom.

“Who is making these fake And Just Like That filming notices,’ wrote one NYC resident, sharing photos of the neon fliers on display, teasing this hotly-anticipated crossover: “After getting hit by a Citi Bike, Carrie retains Fletcher Reede (Jim Carrey) from Liar Liar as her lawyer.”

Another reads, “Carrie goes on a bad date with Mr. Bean (the character) and then accidentally sends him a nude.”

“At brunch with the girls, Carrie reveals that she is Garfield the cat,” reads one scene printed on multiple fliers posted online.

A series of fake filming notices for Max’s “And Just Like That” have been recently popping up in New York City. These notices, which are circulating on social media, feature bogus plot details about the upcoming third season of the “Sex and the City” reboot.

“After Getting Hit By A Citibike, Carrie Retains Fletcher Reede (Jim Carrey) From ‘Liar, Liar’ As Her Lawyer,” one filming notice reads.

Another includes a fake plot about Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) revealing to her friends that “she is Garfield the cat.”

In a different filming notice, the project details read: “Carrie Goes On A Bad Date With Mr. Bean (The Character) And Then Accidentally Sends Him A Nude.”

It’s not clear who is responsible for these notices or if they are somehow stealth marketing for the series. A representative for Max,...

Stars turned out in force for Marc Jacobs’ fall 2024 fashion show at the New York Public Library, with actresses and musicians making bold style statements.

Nicole Ari Parker, known for her role in And Just Like That, channeled spy-chic in an all-black ensemble. The actress donned a form-fitting velvet jumpsuit from Marc Jacobs featuring skin-tight pants and a strapless bustier top with a dramatic sweetheart neckline. Parker accessorized with elbow-length leather gloves and oversized sunglasses, adding to the outfit’s mysterious allure.

Sebastiano Pigazzi (who plays Giuseppe) and Dolly Wells (Joy) have been promoted to series regulars ahead of Season 3, Max announced Thursday. In addition, Sarah Jessica Parker and co. will be joined by three brand-new cast members. Mehcad Brooks (Law & Order), Jonathan Cake (The Affair) and Logan Marshall-Green (Upgrade) have all officially joined the series.

“And Just Like That” has added Logan Marshall-Green, Mehcad Brooks and Jonathan Cake to its Season 3 cast as recurring guest stars.

Additionally, Season 2 recurring guest stars Sebastiano Pigazzi and Dolly Wells have been upped to series regulars.

Pigazzi plays Giuseppe, who dates Anthony (Mario Cantone), while Wells plays Joy, a colleague of Miranda (Cynthia Nixon). Character details for Marshall-Green, Brooks and Cake are not yet known.

Marshall-Green is best known for films including 2018’s “Upgrade” and 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” On TV, he’s appeared in “When They See Us,” “The O.C.” and “Damnation,” most recently starring in “Big Sky.” He is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment, CAA and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.

Brooks has played detective Jalen Shaw in “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” His other credits include “Mortal Kombat” and “Mortal Kombat 2” as well as “Desperate Housewives” and “Necessary Roughness.

Max’s And Just Like That… is shaping its third season with three new cast additions and two promotions as production continues in New York City.

Mehcad Brooks, Jonathan Cake and Logan Marshall-Green are set to recur in new roles.

Ron Simons, who had a busy if low-key TV acting career before making his greatest impact producing such acclaimed Broadway plays as Thoughts of a Colored Man (2021) and the 2022 revival of for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf, died Wednesday. The four-time Tony Award winner was 63.

His death was announced by SimonSays Entertainment, the production company he founded in 2009. A cause of death was not immediately available.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of our beloved, blessed, and highly favored friend, Ronald Keith Simons. Funeral details will be forthcoming,” the production company said in a statement.

Since wrapping production last month on the final season of ABC’s venerable firefighter drama “Station 19,” the 51-year-old actor — who rose to fame in the early aughts in the Showtime drama “Soul Food” — has set his sights on broadening his horizons.

Chief among them is working more behind the camera. Rosie O’Donnell is making her TV return on Max’s “And Just Like That.”

The comedian revealed she’s joining the cast of the “Sex and the City” spinoff on Wednesday, sharing a photo of the Season 3 premiere script via Instagram. The photo reveals she’s playing a character named Mary and that the episode is titled, “Outlook Good.” It will be written and directed by executive producer Michael Patrick King.

“Here comes mary #andjustlikethat @hbo,” she captioned the photo. She also shared a selfie of herself with gray curly hair, captioned, “U like?”

O’Donnell previously hosted her own talk show, “The Rosie O’Donnell Show,” from 1996 to 2002. She went on to serve as a moderator on “The View” for one year from 2006 to 2007. She last appeared on television in 2022 in Showtime’s “American Gigolo.”

Barbara O. Jones, the admired actress who emerged from the L.A. Rebellion movement of Black filmmakers at UCLA in the 1970s to star in Haile Gerima’s Bush Mama and Julie Dash’s Daughters of the Dust, has died. She was 82.

Jones died Tuesday at her home in Dayton, Ohio, her brother, Raymond Minor, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Karen Pittman won’t be returning for “And Just Like That” Season 3. Pittman, who played professor Nya Wallace in the Max series for two seasons, has exited the show ahead of its third installment. Her departure arises from production conflicts, according to Max, amid her recent casting in Netflix’s “Forever” and her series regular role in “The Morning Show,” which was bumped up from a recurring role in Season 1.

Exclusive: A fan-favorite character is leaving And Just Like That… Karen Pittman, who played Nya Wallace in the first two seasons of the Sex and the City sequel, will not be returning for the upcoming third season of the hit Max series.

Pittman was already a series regular on Apple TV+’s The Morning Show when she was cast in And Just Like That…, originally as a recurring in Season 1; she was upped to a series regular in Season 2. Earlier this month, she also was tapped for a starring role in Forever, Netflix’s upcoming drama series reimagining Judy Blume’s novel from Mara Brock Akil.

This put Pittman in the middle of a scheduling conundrum involving three high-profile series on three major streamers filming new seasons this year within similar timeframes.

According to sources, there was every intention for Pittman to be in Season 3 of Ajlt, and Nya was written into the scripts.
