Shri. Dalsukh M. Pancholi hailed from the village of Halvad Saurashtra Gujarat. He was born in Karachi and studied scriptwriting and cinematography in New York. He was a producer, financier, distributor, and exhibitor, who was remembered for making the first Punjabi film. He was active from 1939 to 1958. Considered to be a film pioneer, Pancholi's Empire To Distributors based in Lahore was the biggest importer of American films in northern and western India. Pancholi's "Pancholi Art Pictures "was also the largest film studio in Lahore at the time of the Partition of India. after partition Panch Productions shifted to Mumbai. He was the president of the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA ) in 1954-55.
