Disney’s live-action “Snow White” is here, taking the 1937 animated film into the real world, dwarves and all.

Although technically, in this version, they aren’t dwarves. As explained in the movie, they’re magical creatures that have lived in the woods for hundreds of years. That said, they still take on the names of the original seven dwarves.

And of course, there are some recognizable humans on screen as well as lending their voices to the merry bunch.

So, here are all the faces — and voices — you’ll need to know.

Disney’s latest magnum opus, Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, arrived early in selected overseas centers before going all out in the United States. While the makers expected positive momentum from international regions, the reality is heartbreaking. Yes, the European box office response has been poor so far, with France and Italy witnessing undesirable feats.

The musical fantasy film, which is a live-action reimagining of 1937’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, opened in Europe on Wednesday. On March 19, it opened in France, while in Italy, it arrived on March 20. Among critics, it has fetched poor reviews so far. While the performance of Rachel Zegler is being praised by many, the overall film is getting bashed as a half-hearted attempt.

Chicago – The latest Disney Studio live action reboot of an animated classic is the worst thing to happen to “Snow White” since the poisoned apple. This woebegone misfire in re-imagining the 1937 film hit a new low with this incompetent, incoherent, and incomprehensible miscalculation of epic proportions.

Rachel Zegler is Snow White, a princess daughter of a benevolent king and queen … but her mother the queen later dies. Enter the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot), who disappears the king and makes Snow White a scullery maid. When the mirror routine happens … who’s the fairest of them all? … and determines Snow White instead of the Evil One, the Queen banishes her to the forest. There she meets seven dwarves and a Robin Hood type named Jonathan (Andrew Burnap) – essentially the prince in this story – who leads a gang who are loyal to Snow’s father. Snow’s new team then sets out to get the kingdom back.

The debut score has been revealed for the new Snow White remake. Even ahead of its release, the film was rather polarizing, and that trend will continue with the divisive Rotten Tomatoes score.

Heading into its opening weekend, Snow White has garnered a debut score on Rotten Tomatoes of 48%. Initially, the early reactions from critics on social media were very promising, though with many other critics having more harsh opinions, the Rotten Tomatoes score is almost firmly right in the middle of the road. The number may continue to fluctuate as added reviews come in, but this is a clear indicator that the critics can't agree on how they feel about Snow White.

"Snow White offers a fresh spin on the classic tale that is elevated to the realm of a new original musical thanks to tracks by Pasek and Paul," reads one glowing review by Kristen Maldonado of Pop Culture Planet.

Oedipus, Robert Icke’s West End hit reimagining of the Sophocles tragedy starring Mark Strong and Lesley Manville, will transfer to Broadway this fall for a 14-week engagement as part of the Roundabout Theatre Company’s 2025-2026 season.

Produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Sue Wagner, John Johnson, and Patrick Catullo, in association with the Roundabout, Oedipus will kick off the Roundabout’s upcoming season with performances beginning in November at the theater company’s Studio 54 Broadway venue.

Reprising their roles from the sold-out London staging, Strong plays Oedipus and Manville portrays Jacosta. Strong was last seen on Broadway in the 2015 Tony Award-winning A View From the Bridge (for which he earned a Tony nomination), and Manville, an Oscar nominee for her performance in 2017’s Phantom Thread, will be making her Broadway debut.

The official synopsis: “It’s Oedipus’s Election night. The polls predict a landslide victory. Everything is about to change.

Patrick Page, Broadway’s Tony-nominated Hades of Hadestown who was scheduled to join the other original production castmates in a monthlong West End reunion engagement this month, has withdrawn from the run due to a full rupture of his Achilles tendon.

Page, however, will perform for the live capture pro-shot performances on February 28 and March 1. The filming of the original cast West End reunion was announced in January.

Hadestown, Anaïs Mitchell’s hit Tony-winning Broadway musical based on the Orpheus myth will be professionally filmed live during its current West End engagement featuring the original Broadway cast, producers announced today.

Reprising their roles from the original Broadway cast for the London pro-shoot will be Reeve Carney as Orpheus, André De Shields as Hermes, Amber Gray as Persephone, Eva Noblezada as Eurydice and Patrick Page as Hades.

The filming will take place at London’s Lyric Theatre across three performances: Friday, February 28; and both matinee and evening performances on Saturday March 1. There will be 2,000 tickets in total available to purchase for the filmed performances, with tickets on sale Friday, January 31 at 12 pm.

Casting for performances between February 11 and March 9, including the filmed performances, will feature the previously announced original cast members from the National Theatre and the Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway productions.

In a new image shared by USA Today, Gal Gadot's Evil Queen stands tall and majestic as she takes Snow White (Zegler) by the hand. The image appears to be from the beginning of the film, with the two likely inside the Queen's castle before Snow White flees into the forest after the Queen orders her to be murdered.

David Adjmi’s Stereophonic was named Best Play of the year by the New York Drama Critics’ Circle today, with the Best Musical Award going to the Off Broadway production of Dead Outlaw from the team behind The Band’s Visit.

Stereophonic, currently on Broadway, has received 13 Tony Award nominations, and includes songs written by Will Butler from the indie rock band Arcade Fire. The play tells the story of a fractious 1970s Fleetwood Mac-like rock band recording what will be a massive Rumours-like hit record.

Dead Outlaw, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek and Erik Della Penna and a book by Itamar Moses, is inspired by the life of Elmer McCurdy. The musical, which premiered this year at the Minetta Lane Theatre, was originally conceived by Yazbek and tells the story of an outlaw from the early 20th Century whose corpse became a traveling sideshow exhibit for decades.

Schmigadoon! is getting an unexpected encore. After being cancelled earlier this year, the Apple TV+ musical comedy will live again, this time as a stage production in Washington D.C.

As part of its 2024–2025 season, the The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is staging the world premiere of a new musical based on the short-lived series, featuring familiar tunes from the show (“Corn Puddin'”!) as well as brand-new songs written for this production.

Winners of the 2024 Lucille Lortel Awards, honoring outstanding achievements in Off-Broadway theater, were announced on Sunday, May 5, in a ceremony at NYU Skirball. It’s common for productions to begin their life Off-Broadway before transferring to the Main Stem, so many of this year’s Tony Awards hopefuls are among the list of Lortel nominations. Chief among these contenders is “Hell’s Kitchen,” the semi-autobiographical musical from Alicia Keys. That tuner garnered five Lortel nominations. These include Best Musical, Best Choreography for Camille A. Brown, a Lead Performer bid for Maleah Joi Moon, and Featured Performer bids for Shoshana Bean and Kecia Lewis. “Schmigadoon” has run out of its signature “Corn Puddin’.” The Apple TV+ musical-comedy series has been canceled after two seasons on the streamer.

Series co-creator Cinco Paul announced the news on Instagram. In his post, Paul revealed that scripts for a third season have already been written, along with 25 new songs that would have been featured had it been renewed.

“I am sad to share that Apple will not be moving forward with Season 3 of Schmigadoon!” Paul wrote on January 18. “The season is written (including 25 new songs) but we unfortunately won’t be making it. Such is life. I want to thank everyone involved with the show, our incredible cast and crew and writers, our wonderful supporters at Broadway Video, Universal, and Apple, for everything they did to make it happen.”

Paul called it “a miracle” that “Schmigadoon!” got the two seasons that it did.

HBO officially renewed The Gilded Age for a third season just days after the season two finale aired. Season two, which premiered on October 29, 2023, earned a 93% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The second season’s finale drew in the largest audience in the show’s history.

HBO has renewed “The Gilded Age” for a third season days after the period drama’s finale delivered a series high in viewers.

The network said Thursday that the eighth and final episode of the latest season reached a series high as it gained in premiere-night viewers for a sixth consecutive week.

“We’re so proud of what Julian Fellowes and ‘The Gilded Age’ family have achieved,” HBO programming executive VP of drama series and films Francesca Orsi said. “From the costumes to the production design and performances, the show has captivated so many week after week. The renewal comes just days after the Dec. 17 finale and follows solid ratings for Season 2 of the period drama. Total premiere-night viewing for the season grew for six consecutive weeks, culminating in a series high for the Dec. 17 Season 2 finale, according to HBO.

The American historical period show, created by Julian Fellowes (“Downton Abbey”), debuted in February 2022 with its first season, which introduced a sprawling ensemble cast. 11 episodes later, a complex web of stories, from the upper-class old New York society, new money arrivals and their staff and servers was woven together. For a series stuffed to the gills with Tony Award-winning actors, it makes perfect sense that the second season of “The Gilded Age” would find its ensemble embroiled in a plot over dueling opera houses. “The Crown” Season 6 Gets Two-Part Premiere

It’s coronation time for Season 6 of Netflix’s hit period drama “The Crown.” The streamer has officially announced a premiere date for the sixth and final season of the series centered on the British monarchy with its first four episodes debuting on Nov. 16 and and final six episodes four weeks later on Dec. 14.

The final season of the series will span 1997-2005 with Part One depicting the relationship between Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) and Dodi Fayed (Khalid Abdalla) and the 1997 car crash in Paris that killed them. Part Two will feature the wedding of Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Camilla Parker Bowles (Olivia Williams), while also focusing on William (Ed McVey) and Harry (Luther Ford).
