The 2024 Netflix music documentary The Greatest Night in Pop features behind-the-scenes footage and details of the historic "We Are The World" song's creation. Released back in 1985, "We Are The World" brought together the biggest names in the music industry from all types of genres, including pop, country, folk, rock, and more. The song was assembled by producers Quincy Jones and Michael Omartian and was originated by musician and activist Harry Belafonte and manager Ken Kragen.
The Greatest Night in Pop features new present-day interviews from Lionel Richie, who was a songwriter on "We Are The World" along with pop star Michael Jackson. Richie and Jackson had become acquaintances while their immensely successful music careers were just taking off as the lead singers of The Commodores and The Jackson Five, respectively. "We Are The World" remains to be one of the best-selling songs of all time, selling over 20 million physical copies during the mid-1980s.

Back in March of 2023, we reported on the death of the greatest boutique pop culture poster company, Mondo. Granted, the company still exists in name only underneath the Funko brand, but Mondo as we once knew it (including a majority of the founders and core staff that made the company possible) is over. Fortunately, a savior appeared in the form of ... the team that gave us Mondo in the first place and the wonderful weirdos (Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah) over at SpectreVision. Former Mondo creative directors Spencer Hickman, Eric Garza, Mitch Putnam, and Mo Shafeek joined CEO Jenny Jacobi to form the new company, Mutant, which will produce limited-edition artwork, posters, soundtracks on vinyl, collectibles, events, and more.
One of Mutant's first releases is the original motion picture soundtrack for "Lisa Frankenstein," so you can relive all the glorious, creepy '80s goodness whenever the urge to build your own undead boyfriend beckons.

Warning: This post contains spoilers for Lisa Frankenstein
The soundtrack of Lisa Frankenstein captures the 80s era with popular hits and original compositions. Songs like "The Promise" and "Can't Fight This Feeling" play during important moments in the film's plot. The official soundtrack will be released by Thriller Soundtrack Music and will feature the film's songs and original score.
With every movie must come a good soundtrack, and Lisa Frankenstein certainly nails the 80s with its song choices. Starring Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse, Lisa Frankenstein’s soundtrack is the backdrop to many moments in Lisa Swallows and the Creature’s journey together. The horror romance movie, directed by Zelda Williams from a screenplay by Diablo Cody, even features a couple of big moments that unfold to a Reo Speedwagon classic. The songs in Lisa Frankenstein blend well with the film’s 80s theme, and feature quite a few popular hits from the era.

Depeche Mode, the pioneering ‘80s U.K. technopop band, has long had a strong following in Los Angeles — thanks to their exposure on local alternative stalwart Kroq — and now they’re proving a favorite of film and TV creative executives.
The group, consisting of co-founders Martin Gore and vocalist Dave Gahan after the death of keyboardist Andrew Fletcher in May 2022, is on a roll following its 2020 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where they were introduced by Charlize Theron, who called them “the soundtrack of my life.”
Depeche Mode’s new Mute/Columbia Records album, “Memento Mori,” comes out March 24, their first since 2017’s “Spirit” and 15th overall, which will be followed by a year-long tour that launches March 23 in Sacramento and includes a show at L.A.’s Kia Forum on March 28 and four concluding area shows in December, two apiece at Kia and Crypto.com Arena.

A few months ago, it might have been unimaginable that multimillion dollar fundraising efforts would be hosted not in black tie from behind a ballroom dais but in ballcaps in front of a refrigerator. But the “RWQuarantunes” livestream music series has proven that show-business philanthropy can take as much of a different tack as anything during the pandemic.
On Sunday night, the series of star-studded, invitation-only live charity shows, hosted by top agent Richard Weitz and his 17-year-old daughter Demi, passed the $4 million mark in contributions made to a wide array of causes. Their ability to pull that off from their kitchen countertop (aside from one online field trip to the shuttered Hollywood Bowl a few weeks ago) may augur poorly for the immediate future of the tux rental business … but it’s been good news for L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai, several New York City hospitals, Nashville’s Vanderbilt Medical Center,...

As the lead singer of L.T.D. in the second half of the Seventies and then a solo act with more than a dozen R&B hits, Jeffrey Osborne has enjoyed his fair share of commercial glory.
But pop music tends to reward youth, so like many older singers — Osborne is now 70 — the former L.T.D. frontman has trouble keeping his new music in the public consciousness. “People come up to us and say, ‘You know, you haven’t had a record in years,'” Osborne explains. “I’m like,...

Sioux Falls, S.D. — Amid rumors of another "Tonight" show shake-up, comedian George Lopez says he has no desire to return to the late-night talk show scene.
Lopez said he had a great two-year run as a late-night talk show host. But, he said, "I'm out of that thing."
"I know all those guys. They're all good guys, but that's a tough job. There are a lot of tough jobs in TV. That could be one of the toughest, hosting a show every night," Lopez said Wednesday night.
Lopez's comments in Sioux Falls before taking the stage for a stand-up show benefiting the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy come after amid fresh turbulence in the late-night talk show business after word leaked last week that "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon will unseat Jay Leno as the new host of NBC's "Tonight." The network has not confirmed the rumor.

Los Angeles — George Lopez is taking over as master of ceremonies of the annual Playboy Jazz Festival.
The comedian was announced as the festival's new host Thursday at an event at the Playboy Mansion.
"This is iconic," said the former star of the ABC sitcom "George Lopez" and the TBS talk show "Lopez Tonight." "I've never been here before. I was married for 17 years. I couldn't even have a Playboy air freshener."
Bill Cosby previously served as the festival's host for more than 30 years. Cosby was a fixture at the gathering of jazz luminaries since the first festival was held in 1979.
Lopez said Cosby called him to give him advice on the gig. His tips included not letting musicians in his dressing room "because they'll eat all your food and drink all your drink," joked Lopez.

"The Bachelor"'s Jake Pavelka had just declared his love for Vienna Girardi and proposed marriage on Monday night's finale of the reality series. But instead of the couple riding off into the sunset, it was announced on "After the Final Rose" that Jake would be one of the competitors on this season's "Dancing with the Stars." "Actually, I didn't approach anybody at any of the networks," Jakes says when asked how he received the invitation. "I haven't been auditioning. I don't have a publicist. I am probably the only 'Bachelor' cast member without an agent. It actually just fell in my lap and I am really glad it did. Again, the cameras are not what I am after. It is the competition. To dance at that level and have the opportunity to train with professionals, it is like a life's dream, so it is conquering a dream." So, instead...

It’s hard to believe this season is over. Maybe it’s because there have been a few things that have distracted our attention this time around, but it really seems like this season has flown by. I’m glad you all got a chance to be introduced to Jake’s family. I think once you see them and how they interact as a family it’s easy to see why Jake is the way he is. They are all such good communicators and you can see where Jake has gotten his skills. His parents fell in love with Tenley...
