The gears are in motion for a fifth John Wick movie, despite the character's seeming demise at the end of the fourth film. However, whether Keanu Reeves returns or not, there's one character you probably won't see in a future John Wick film. In an interview with Collider's Aidan Kelley for his new critically acclaimed movie Bob Trevino Likes It, legendary star John Leguizamo stated that his character, auto mechanic Aurelio, likely won't be back for another round.
Says Leguizamo, of the possibility of a return to the blockbuster action franchise:
Yeah…Well… I mean, I was cut out of 2, so I was not the happiest camper. I had a whole backstory and everything, but I don't want to get into all that.
On the suggestion that he could return Wick's car after being absent from the franchise since the second film, Leguizamo was very clear:
I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.

After 10 years and three additional movies, one moment from the original John Wick still hasn't been beaten. Since the first movie released, the John Wick franchise has become an absolute juggernaut action series. All the John Wick films grossed over a billion dollars combined, and Keanu Reeves is arguably the biggest star in the entire action genre today. Even though John Wick grew well beyond the bounds of what the original movie set up, the franchise still hasn't managed to produce anything better than one perfect moment from its first outing.
The John Wick franchise has improved in almost every way possible since the original film came out in 2014. By the ending of John Wick: Chapter 4, the action scenes got bigger and more intense, John Wick's kill count nearly doubled, and the world of John Wick expanded into a massive network of underground assassins and secret societies. John Wick's Caine spinoff movie receives a major directing update from Donnie Yen, who is returning to reprise his role as the blind assassin.
In an interview with Collider, Yen revealed that he is not only set to reprise his role, but is also in talks to direct the Caine spinoff himself:
I think both the fans, as well as the studio, want this to happen, and we'll see. I don't know. I can only tell you that much. But yes, we are talking, and we are talking intimately. We'll see what happens. But at the same time, I hold responsibility as well as a pressure that I don't want to ruin the franchise. I try to do my best to bring something fresh to the franchise itself. I don't want to bring down the expectations for the fans. I try to do my best, like always.
More to come.

The first three movies in the John Wick franchise are preparing to head to a new streaming home. After it debuted in 2014, the franchise has exploded into a genuine media giant. Alongside John Wick's various spin-offs, The Continental, Ballerina, and Under the High Table, the movie has already earned three sequels and a fourth that is set to release in the coming years.
It famously stars Keanu Reeves as the reluctant assassin Wick, while he attempts to butcher the High Table. The intense action scenes, compelling characters, and detailed world-building have contributed to its international acclaim, though it has never managed to win any major awards. While Reeves remains the undisputed star, other characters have earned attention through the spin-offs and more are poised to fill in this original world. The first three movies will join Chapter 4 on Hulu on January 1, 2025.
Keanu Reeves' feature film career began in 1986 with the sports movie Youngblood.

Gerard Butler’s 2018 action-thriller Hunter Killer has arrived on Tubi, giving the forgotten movie a second chance to find an audience. While the movie has recently had a stint on Netflix, there is nothing like free content that doesn’t require a paid subscription, and that has proved to be a big draw for action movie fans. While Butler is usually seen running around on land, this time around he is taking a deep-dive into the world of geopolitical espionage and submarine warfare.
Hunter Killer sees Butler playing Captain Joe Glass, a submarine commander who is tested to the limit when he is thrown into a battle to prevent the outbreak of World War III – well, isn’t that always the goal? After uncovering a coup within the Russian government, Glass must strategically play the game to navigate political and military tensions, take down the bad guys, and – there’s...

John Wick did something truly impressive and surprising in 2017, and if Keanu Reeves returns for John Wick 5, the franchise will almost definitely do it again. After the ending of John Wick: Chapter 4, the future of the franchise looks somewhat uncertain. There are a number of upcoming John Wick spinoffs in varying stages of development, including Ana de Armas' Ballerina and Donnie Yen's Caine spinoff, as well as the upcoming TV show Under the High Table. Even with so many new projects on the horizon, however, it's not clear if Keanu Reeves will continue to play John Wick.
After 10 years of John Wick, Keanu Reeves is almost synonymous with the eponymous character. It's hard to imagine anyone leading the John Wick franchise, even though there are already a few contenders. As such, there's a chance that Reeves could return to the confirmed John Wick 5. The war genre has produced some all-time classic movies over the years and has been a firm fixture in the release calendar ever since Georges Mlis released War Fighting in Greece in 1897, all the way to now in 2024. However, for every bona fide classic, such as Apocalypse Now, or Full Metal Jacket, there are often movies that arrive to a lukewarm reception but are actually great films.
While a lot of the very best war movies are from the 1960s, 1970s, or 1990s, there are many great examples of the genre that were released in the 2000s. However, they have been shown very little love from critics and audiences. Some of them were either released at the wrong time, the studio didn't believe in them enough to push the marketing campaigns, or audiences didn't click with how great they were. There are many war movies from the 2000s that deserve to be reassessed.

Before Keanu Reeves, John Wick considered a much different, yet very familiar, action star for the role.
While celebrating the original John Wick's tenth anniversary with The Hollywood Reporter, co-director David Leitch revealed that Die Hard's Bruce Willis almost played Wick in an earlier draft of the movie's script. "We were first exposed to the script by our manager at the time, Kelly McCormick, who's now my wife and producer. She had introduced us to Basil Iwanyk and Peter Lawson at Basil's company [Thunder Road] to maybe do second unit work on that script. So that was the first time we read it, and I think Bruce Willis mightve been attached at that time," he recalled.

Ian McShane, who played Winston in the John Wick films, has expressed his sadness for his late co-star Lance Reddick. Reddick and Shane worked closely on the Keanu Reeves-led action franchise and are due to appear together one last time in Ballerina.
"Because [Reddick's] no longer with us another one that I will miss dreadfully," McShane said, per EW, in speaking of his on-screen criminal consort at a 10th anniversary screening of John Wick in L.A. "But we have Ballerina coming out, in which he'll [be seen] for the last time, we have that together. I thought we made a really good double act, as we say, in a sense. An upcoming John Wick spinoff is the only chance to bring back a beloved character who died way too early. There's already a slew of upcoming John Wick spinoff movies and shows in the works, from Donnie Yen's Caine spinoff to Ana de Armas' Ballerina movie, but only one has a chance to bring back the dead. That project is a planned John Wick anime prequel that is set earlier in the John Wick timeline than anything other than The Continental. The anime's setting gives it a truly unique chance to revisit a character who became a fan favorite despite dying in the first John Wick film.

John Wick is the best action movie franchise of the last decade, with the Keanu Reeves-led series spawning multiple sequels, a prequel series, and multiple spinoffs including a surprising anime. Although John Wick: Chapter 4 had a definitive ending, a bizarre John Wick 5 theory somehow perfectly explains the return of Keanu Reeves' character. John Wick: Chapter 4 ended with John (Reeves) killing Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgrd), effectively granting himself and Caine (Donnie Yen) freedom from the High Table. In his final moments, John sits on a set of stairs and thinks about his wife before succumbing to his injuries. John Wick characters Winston (Ian McShane) and the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) are then seen talking over his gravestone in the final scene.

Later, Hollywood took a stab at it, too, with English-language adaptations, but we'll get to those later. First, though, let's talk about the original trilogy and the correct order to watch it.

There are certain action movies that defined distinct eras of Hollywood. Super macho bro-fests led by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone dominated the '80s, "Die Hard" ushered in a wave of more workaday, everyman heroes, and "The Matrix" and the rise of Hong Kong cinema-inspired American action cinema evolved the genre in the late '90s and into the 2000s. But unquestionably, the defining action movie of the past decade is "John Wick." Which makes it funny to think about how that first movie initially felt like just another straight-to-vod action movie before a screening at a festival convinced director Chad Stahelski he had a hit on his hands.
Of course, a big part of the film's (and the eventual franchise's) success stems from its incredible action choreography, which makes each fight scene feel fresh and unique. Likewise, the franchise has the kind of organic world-building and lore most Hollywood cinematic universes dream of,...

John Wick consistently defies death in intense fights, like surviving being thrown off a balcony and attacked by multiple assailants. He fights through injuries, like being stabbed, to continue battling enemies, showcasing his endurance and willpower. John's ability to survive dangerous situations is partly due to the support and resources provided by allies such as Marcus and Charon.
Throughout the John Wick saga, the title character demonstrates an unnatural ability to survive almost any dire situation. John Wick (Keanu Reeves) regularly walks off gunshot wounds, car crashes, and falls that should break bones. As the series goes on, the stakes get higher and the battles John finds himself in become increasingly more intense.

Dean Winters' Allstate Mayhem ads have made him popular, but he has had a diverse acting career in action, and drama. While Dean Winters' role in John Wick may not be his most iconic, it showcased his ability to deliver a strong performance in a major action film. In addition to his Allstate and John Wick roles, Winters has had memorable performances in shows like Oz and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, demonstrating his range as an actor.
Dean Winters' Mayhem ads have given him notoriety, but it is far from the only acting gig the stuntman and actor has had. His Allstate ads where he appears as Mayhem highlight Winters' comedic range, but he has appeared in multiple projects, including John Wick. Whether it's action, drama, or even horror, Winters has made an appearance. His ads have become pretty synonymous with the company that is known for memorable ads, including Alicia Keys' Allstate commercial.

Hunter Killer is not based on a true story and takes liberties with its depiction of submarine operations. Andropov trusted Glass because he risked his crew's lives to save him and showed him evidence of the coup. Glass gave Andropov his lucky coin as a sign of respect and gratitude for their successful mission to prevent World War III.
At the end of Hunter Killer, Captain Glass makes the bold move to trust Russian Captain Andropov and together they help avoid the beginning of World War III. Directed by Jonathan Marsh and based on the novel by Don Keith and George Wallace, Hunter Killer is a 2018 movie featuring performances from Gerard Butler, Gary Oldman, Common, Linda Cardellini, Toby Stephens, and more.

No popular movie franchise is complete without its personal set of over-the-top and bizarre fan theories. Sometimes, moviemakers leave a few things to the audience's imagination and understanding. However, they get out of hand sometimes, and that's how the internet ends up with fan theories that seem creative but occasionally don't make sense. When there's some phenomenon that the movies can't explain, the job can be left to enthusiastic movie watchers who cook up weird theories, which are sometimes great, but often they miss the bullseye.
The fan theory-making process has gone so wild that people actually start relating two completely separate movies even though one is a sci-fi set in the future while the other is a clichéd rom-com. From declaring James Bond as a codename to believing that Chris Pratt's character in Jurassic World was introduced in the original Jurassic Park, these fan theories will melt the viewers' minds.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is the first installation of the Millennium series of novels by Stieg Larsson. It follows journalist Mikael and private investigator Lisbeth Salander, who seek to uncover the mystery of Harriet Vanger’s disappearance and presumed murder. The original Swedish films based on the books starred Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth and Michael Nyqvist as Mikael Blomkvist. The "John Wick" franchise isn't just a montage of John Woo-inspired gun-fu combat sequences. The series has used just about everything imaginable to craft intense action scenes, from dogs to, as was the case with "John Wick: Chapter 4," fast-moving vehicles. In fact, cars and other forms of transport have been utilized by franchise director Chad Stahelski throughout the four "John Wick" films, and not just to choreograph fight-scene style "car-fu" sequences.
All the way back in 2014's "John Wick," the titular hitman reluctantly returns to his former illicit lifestyle after his puppy is killed and his Ford Mustang Boss 429 stolen. That first entry in the saga of Baba Yaga saw Wick get revenge for the aforementioned pup killing, but his Mustang remained unaccounted for. Which is why, when "John Wick: Chapter 2" arrived, there was some unfinished business to take care of.

The "John Wick" series is known for subverting action movie tropes. It's part of what has made the Keanu Reeves-led films such a success, with the latest entry, "John Wick: Chapter 4," headshoting a new franchise box office record on its opening weekend. The saga of Baba Yaga has now officially passed the $1 billion mark at the box office, proving that "John Wick" is a bonafide blockbuster franchise.
But while a huge part of the films' success has been upending genre clichés and basically inventing a whole new action subgenre — think "Nobody," "Atomic Blonde," and "Sisu" — sometimes the films just lean into the standard tricks of action movie-making. Case in point: the famous "Baba Yaga" sequence in 2014's "John Wick." John Wick's car seems to possess magical healing properties, with damage disappearing in subsequent shots, which is a continuity error that hurts the mythos. Viggo Tarasov, a Russian mobster, strangely has a Swedish accent in the first John Wick film, breaking the film's reality for those familiar with the languages. The value of the gold coins used as currency in the John Wick world lacks internal logic, with a single coin paying for both a night's stay and a drink at the hotel bar.

The Mission: Impossible and James Bond movies make up two of the most well-known franchises in pop culture, and several actors have been in both. James Bond's first adventure was in 1962 when Sean Connery adopted the 007 mantle for Dr. No, with various other actors doing the same right up until Daniel Craig's last appearance as the character in No Time To Die in 2022. In 1966, the Mission: Impossible television series began, but it would be another thirty years before Tom Cruise played Ethan Hunt in the film reboot of the franchise, a role he's played continuously for the past 27 years.
Over the course of seven decades, there have been 25 films in the official Bond canon and seven Mission: Impossible movies, so it's not surprising that actors would wind up in both franchises. "John Wick" is undoubtedly one of the most brutal action franchises of all time. Just look at the numbers. In the first three "John Wick" films, the beloved assassin kills a total of 299 people, with "John Wick: Chapter 2" serving as the deadliest film in the series. One eagle-eyed fan claims that John offs 140 people in "John Wick: Chapter 4" (depending on how you count), bringing his total kills to 439. This makes him one of the most prolific murderers in all of film history, as his body count is even higher than Michael Meyers' and Jason Voorhees' — combined!
Of course, not every kill makes a huge impact. John's weapon of choice is a pistol, and gunshots become almost mundane after a while. Don't get us wrong, being shot in the head is an absolutely brutal way to go, but there are different levels of viciousness in the "John Wick" universe.

In an industry obsessed with sequels and reboots, going against established norms is often a risky but rewarding approach. In 2022, Zach Cregger's "Barbarian," budgeted at $4.5 million, became a sleeper hit when its upending of horror movie tropes and unique blend of terror and comedy brought in $44 million at the box office. You would think such a stark contrast of tones would result in one undermining the other, but somehow it worked.

In the world of “John Wick,” where characters and their motivations range from different shades of gray all the way to pitch black, there’s no option to look for binaries. While the ‘dignified’ criminals continue to live under the false pretense that their theatricality and rules make them better than animals, the existence of any distinguishing features among varying degrees of evil gets blurred as the predators eat each other up in the urban jungle. Still, there are those who, strengthened by their power and wealth, think themselves to be untouchable and dare to mess with the Baba Yaga, only to end up six feet under.
The first three movies in the “John Wick” saga didn’t stress the necessity of a singular character as the antagonist, and except for some bits of Michael Nyqvist’s performance as Viggo Tarasov, the franchise lacked strong antagonistic performances. In the fourth chapter of the franchise,...
