In the 21 years of Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn Blum’s marriage, he thinks one of his traits has bothered her more than the rest. Grohl, who has been in a band for most of his life, admitted that it’s hard for him to listen to Blum. This isn’t because he doesn’t want to, but because of the toll loud music has taken on his hearing.
Dave Grohl thinks his wife has a problem with one of his traits
Grohl has been working as a musician since he was a teenager. After joining the band Scream in 1986, he dropped out of high school to tour extensively with them. In 1990, he joined Nirvana and, following their disbanding, he founded the Foo Fighters. He has been performing live music for most of his life.

According to Grohl, this has caused some frustration for his wife.

This week, Dave Grohl announced that he had a child outside of his marriage to his wife, Jordyn Blum. The news comes as a blow to Grohl’s lengthy marriage. Here’s how Grohl met Blum and how long the couple have been married.
Dave Grohl and Jordyn Blum met at a bar in 2001
In 2001, Grohl was at a bar with his bandmate, Taylor Hawkins, when Blum approached the table. He didn’t think he had any chance of impressing her.
“I met Jordyn one night in 2001. Taylor and I were hanging out at the Sunset Marquis whiskey bar. Taylor was the looker. I mean, girls would send him drinks,” Grohl told Q Magazine (per Foo Archive). “Some bombshell comes up and starts talking to Taylor. I was just out of a Tenacious D session. I’ve got Vans trainers on, no socks, dirty shorts and a dirty T-shirt, surrounded by beautiful Hollywood.

Krist Novoselic joined a Nirvana/Foo Fighters tribute band called FooVana for a handful of Nirvana songs during a show at Georgie’s Garage in Vancouver, Washington on Thursday night (July 18th).
The Nirvana bassist performed with the Portland, Oregon-based tribute act on “Blew,” “Lithium,” and “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” It was apparently the first time Novoselic played “Blew” live in more than three decades.
Shortly before the show, FooVana alerted fans to Novoselic’s appearance, showing a photo of the bassist onstage and writing, “Get down here to Georgie’s Garage and Grill! Show’s about to start! Oh yeah that’s right… Somebody else is here!!!”
Novoselic recently made news when it was announced that he was running for President of the United States in an effort to get the Cascade Party of Washington to be recognized by the state as a “bona fide party.”

After several years, and a few unexpected twists, Nirvana and Marc Jacobs have settled a copyright dispute over the band’s smiley face logo, which also raised questions about the origins of the famous symbol.
Nirvana first brought the suit in Dec. 2018, accusing Marc Jacobs of copyright and trademark infringement over a T-shirt they said ripped off the band’s signature happy face design — with X’d out eyes, squiggly smile, and tongue sticking out. The Marc Jacobs shirt (which was part of the fashion company’s “Bootleg Redux Grunge...

Founding Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic recently kicked off a presidential campaign in Washington state and launched a new group called the Bona Fide Band.
How are those two things related? Well, according to Novoselic, running on the presidential ticket and hosting conventions are part of the requirements for his Cascade Party of Washington to be recognized by the state as a “bona fide party.” To get the word out, he started the Bona Fide Band with original Screaming Trees drummer Mark Pickerel to play shows doubling as conventions.
The group played their initial run of shows last week, performing a mix of covers alongside songs from Novoselic’s other groups Giants in the Trees and 3rd Secret (with Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil). During their June 21st concert in Kurt Cobain’s hometown of Aberdeen, Washington, they took on Nirvana’s 1988 debut single, “Love Buzz,” originally recorded by the Dutch...

Dave Grohl honored Steve Albini during Foo Fighters’ concert in Charlotte on Thursday night by dedicating the band’s performance of “My Hero” to the In Utero producer.
“Tonight I’d like to dedicate this song to a friend that we lost the other day, who I’ve known a long, long time,” Grohl said. “He left us much too soon. He’s touched all of your lives, I’m sure. I’m talking about Steve Albini. For those of you who know, you know. For those of you who don’t know, just remember that name: Steve Albini. Let’s sing this one for him.”

Nirvana have paid tribute to Steve Albini by sharing the four-page letter he sent the band before agreeing to record their beloved final studio album, In Utero. Albini passed away yesterday (May 8th) at the age of 61.
The letter was posted on Nirvana’s official Twitter account, accompanied simply by the caption, “Steve Albini.” In the document, Albini outlines his steadfast philosophies, both regarding his approach to recording and his approach to business. Effectively, it’s Albini responding to Kurt Cobain’s request to produce the album by saying, “Only if we do it right.”
“I think the very best thing you could do at this point is exactly what you are talking about doing: bang a record out in a couple of days, with high quality but minimal ‘production’ and no interference from the front office bulletheads. If that is indeed what you want to do, I would love to be involved,...

Susie Tennant — longtime member of the Seattle music community, promotions and marketing legend, and early supporter of Nirvana, Sonic Youth, and others — has died of early onset dementia. She was 61 years old.
News of Tennant’s passing was confirmed by the Friends of Susie Tennant Facebook page on Friday, with a post stating that she was “calm and at peace,” and “surrounded by family and love.” For several years, Tennant had suffered from several ailments; first ovarian cancer, which was in remission for the last years of her life (though she did suffer from “chemo brain” as a result of the treatment); and then frontotemporal degeneration, a type of dementia.
Over the course of Tennant’s career, she made waves — and, ultimately, an impact on global music history itself — as a champion of the Seattle music scene. As publicist for a then-ascendant Nirvana, she advocated for the band, won them opportunities,...

Updated with new ruling: A federal appeals court today revived a previously-dismissed lawsuit for alleged child sexual exploitation brought by the Los Angeles man pictured as a naked infant over 30 years ago on the cover of the landmark Nirvana album Nevermind.
Spencer Elden sought personal injury damages from the now-defunct group’s company, various record companies and art directors on the grounds that he was a victim of child pornography when, as a 4-month-old baby, he was photographed naked in a pool for the cover of the multimillion-selling 1991 album. The district court dismissed the action last year as barred by the 10-year statute of limitations.
A panel of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the dismissal and sent the case back to Los Angeles federal court for further proceedings, finding that because each republication of the cover photo may constitute a new personal injury, the plaintiff’s...

Spencer Elden’s child pornography lawsuit against Nirvana and other parties over the use of his image on the iconic Nevermind album cover has been reinstated by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. The decision comes more than a year after the lawsuit was dismissed by a California district court.
According to an official summary of the new ruling, which was filed on Thursday (December 21st), the appeals court reversed the district court’s decision “because each republication of child pornography may constitute a new personal injury, Elden’s complaint alleging republication of the album cover within the ten years preceding his action was not barred by the statute of limitations.”
In August 2021, Elden sued Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl and Courtney Love (representing the estate of Kurt Cobain), as well as Universal Music Group, Geffen Records, photographer Kirk Weddle, and other parties over the use of...

The new docu-series Geddy Lee Asks: Are Bass Players Human Too? premieres today (December 5th) on Paramount+, and Consequence is offering an exclusive clip from the episode featuring the Rush frontman and Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.
The four-part series follows Geddy Lee as he partakes in random tasks and endeavors with fellow bass players. Most of the activities are decidedly non-musical, as we discovered in our previous exclusive clip in which Les Claypool shows Geddy how to use an excavator.
On the other hand, the episode with Novoselic is a bit more domestic, as Geddy finds himself in the Nirvana bassist’s kitchen among many homegrown vegetables (Novoselic would appear to be quite the gardener).
After donning an apron, Geddy gets right to work on a can of roasted tomatoes.
“You’re a natural,” exclaims Krist off the jump before placing the jar in bowling water to sterilize it.
“High drama,...

With the new Paramount+ docu-series Geddy Lee: Are Bass Players Human Too? set to launch on Tuesday (December 5th), Consequence is exclusively premiering a clip from the episode featuring the Rush legend alongside Les Claypool of Primus.
The four-part series features Geddy Lee engaging in random activities with fellow bassists in an effort to “show the world that a bass player can do many things,” in his own words.
For example, this exclusive clip sees Claypool showing Geddy how to use an excavator to consolidate some burn piles on Claypool’s land. At first, Geddy looks confounded by the heavy equipment.
“I’m a nice urban Jewish boy… where do I come to this kind of machinery?” asks Geddy.
Les responds by giving Geddy a Stetson and some coveralls while encouraging him to expand his horizons. Soon enough, Geddy gets the excavator arm moving and gets to work, picking up the basics fast.

A new deluxe reissue of Nirvana’s In Utero, is out today (October 27th) to coincide with the album’s 30th anniversary.
The original In Utero arrived after Nirvana had already become global superstars, and is thematically characterized by the band’s discomfort with their status, particularly from frontman, Kurt Cobain. Celebrating it on the occasion of its 25th anniversary in 2018, Consequence contributor Ryan Bray praised the album as “arguably the truest representation of what Nirvana was: a massive act with the principles and integrity of one half its size… It’s a difficult but ironclad document of artistic bravery.”
Now, the album is being honored in a whole new fashion. Among the 53 unreleased tracks are two full In Utero-era concerts, including the band’s final performance in Seattle, as well as six bonus live tracks recorded at various shows around the same time. Additionally, the album’s original tracklist,...

Norah Jones hosts a podcast called Norah Jones is Playing Along, where she welcomes fellow musicians for an hour of conversation and live collaboration. Her latest episode features Dave Grohl.
The episode was recorded back in April prior to the release of Foo Fighters’ latest album, But Here We Are, but is only being released today. It’s an absolutely phenomenal listen.
During their 90-minute powwow, Jones and Grohl performed several songs together, including a few Foo Fighters rarities that Grohl hadn’t played in years — or ever, for that matter. Notably, with Jones’ backing on piano, Grohl played “Statues,” from 2007’s Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, for the very first time. He also revisited “Razor” and the Jones duet “Virginia Moon,” two songs from In Your Honor that hadn’t been performed live since 2006.

Nirvana’s third and final album, In Utero, celebrated its 30th anniversary last month. To mark the occasion, surviving band members Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl, along with In Utero producer Steve Albini, sat down with Conan O’Brien for an hour-long conversation on his Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast.
The trio spoke at length about the In Utero recording process and comparisons to Nevermind; how they killed time in the studio by prank calling Gene Simmons, Evan Dando, and Eddie Vedder; the record label’s reaction to In Utero; and the depths of Kurt Cobain’s lyricism. For Nirvana geeks, the conversation won’t provide much in the way of new revelations, but it’s still a thrill hearing the three guys back in the same room together.

Aside from the frequency with which contemporaneous news footage reporting on Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994 still pops up in documentaries about the era, In Utero’s place in both the Nirvana and rock canon might be the clearest expression of how much the singer’s death still reverberates today. But the popular interpretations of the album as a quasi-suicide note not only miss its emotional breadth and sly humor—regularly understated when discussing Cobain as a lyricist—but also what it represented 30 years ago: With In Utero, Nirvana showed that something akin to “success on your own terms” was indeed possible.
Even being the biggest band on the planet in 1993 didn’t insulate Nirvana from having to put up with rumors about squabbling between the group and Geffen Records over whether the album was unlistenable. Despite claims from producer Steve Albini, both the band and David Geffen publicly denied...

Surviving Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic are set to appear on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast next week in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the band’s final album, In Utero. Update: Listen to the full episode here. In an advance clip premiered at Billboard, Grohl and Novoselic (along with In Utero producer/engineer Steve Albini) chatted with O’Brien about the band’s dizzying rise following the release of their second studio album, Nevermind, in 1991.
O’Brien began the conversation by recalling how there was just a three-day window between the September 1993 release of In Utero and the debut of his show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien. “I remembered the music on the album — because I was such a huge fan — being background music to the terror and the weirdness of me starting a late night show from complete obscurity in 1993,” he said.

Dave Grohl is just like many post-1960s musicians — The Beatles greatly influenced him. The early songs Paul McCartney and John Lennon wrote together helped change the direction of pop music forever. Grohl said his favorite Beatles song was the Lennon tune “Hey Bulldog,” but he praised all the band members for their contributions.

3rd Secret, the grunge supergroup featuring members of Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Pearl Jam, have quietly released a second full-length album, cleverly titled The 2nd 3rd Secret.

3rd Secret feature a trio of grunge royalty — bassist Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), guitarist Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), and drummer Matt Cameron (Soundgarden and Pearl Jam) — alongside Bubba DuPree (Void) and singers Jillian Raye (from Novoselic’s band Giants in the Trees) and Jennifer Johnson.
The band released its self-titled debut album in April 2022, playing their first live performance that same month at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle.

An electric guitar once owned and smashed by the legendary Kurt Cobain was sold at an auction in New York City for just under $600,000 – nearly 10 times what it was originally estimated for.
The Nirvana frontman is known to have broken several guitars while performing during their Nevermind era in the early 1990s, one of which is the iconic left-handed black-and-white Fender Stratocaster he smashed on stage and later reassembled.
In Memoriam 2022: 100 Great Celebrities Who Died In 2022
According to Julien Auctions, the company that handled the sale, despite the guitar’s repair, it remained unplayable and was later gifted by Cobain to friend and fellow musician Mark Lanegan in 1992. The body of the guitar is signed by Nirvana’s three members — Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic – and features a message from Cobain to Lanegan that reads: “Hell-o Mark! Love, Your Pal, Kurdt Kobain / Washed up rockstar.”

A Fender Stratocaster smashed onstage by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s tour in support of Nevermind has sold for $595,900 at auction.
The guitar — a reassembled-yet-unplayable left-handed black Strat — went for around 10 times its original estimate of $60-80k at a Julien’s Auction this past weekend at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City. The instrument was signed (in one way or another) by all three members of Nirvana, including Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl.
This particular Strat had some personal significance, as it was gifted by Cobain to his friend and fellow Seattle music cohort, the late Screaming Trees singer Mark Lanegan. Kurt even inscribed the body of the guitar: “Hell-o mark! Love, Your Pal, Kurdt Kobain/ Washed up rockstar.”
Additional markings include the signatures of the three members of Nirvana, as well as a neck-plate engraving reading “Boddah Lives,” in reference to Cobain’s imaginary childhood friend.

One of the most exciting collaborations in the 2010s was when Paul McCartney teamed up with the remaining members of Nirvana. While Nirvana was a legendary band of the 90s, the grunge-rock band couldn’t compare with the iconic status of The Beatles. So, it makes perfect sense that Nirvana’s bass guitarist Krist Novoselic was horrified of playing with Sir Paul.

In 2012, Foo Fighters’ lead singer and former Nirvana member, Dave Grohl, invited Paul McCartney to collaborate on a track for his 2013 documentary Sound City. The song is titled “Cut Me Some Slack”, and McCartney performed lead vocals. In an interview with DIY, McCartney said Grohl hadn’t informed him the other Nirvana members would be there, so McCartney had no idea who he was playing with.

Many artists can only dream about having the opportunity to work with Paul McCartney. Fortunately, the former Beatle is open to collaborating with other artists, and many of these projects have been quite successful. Paul McCartney’s collaborations might not have produced the same magic with other artists that he did with John Lennon, but he still created fantastic music that had commercial success.

Tony Hawk is planning to celebrate Kurt Cobain’s birthday on Monday, who would have turned 56.
In an Instagram post, Hawk wrote that he bought Cobain’s 1985 skateboard at an auction last year. An avid painter — sometimes of classic rock imagery — the deck is decorated with Cobain’s painting of Iron Maiden. It’s an original Jeff Phillips model, a skateboarder who died by suicide in 1993, three months before Cobain ended his life.

Nirvana was one of the most popular bands of the 1990s, but their meteoric rise halted following the death of lead singer Kurt Cobain. The band disbanded after that, and many wondered if the grunge group would reunite. In 2012, Paul McCartney was fortunate enough to play in a Nirvana reunion with Dave Grohl, but he had no idea he was playing with the original band members.

“Nirvana Baby” Spencer Elden has appealed the court’s most recent dismissal for his child pornography lawsuit.
Elden featured on the cover of the band’s the legendary 1991 album Nevermind when he was just four months old, with the album art depicting a naked baby swimming to reach for a dollar bill.
In 2021, Elden filed a lawsuit claming that the album artwork causes him “extreme ongoing psychic or emotional injury”.
It was dismissed in September by a federal judge who claimed that the artwork did not constitute as child pornography and that Elden had waited too long to make the claims.
This was the third time Elden had filed a case against the band and had it rejected. After his case was dismissed, the judge told him he was not able to file again.

Spencer Elden, the man who starred on the cover art of Nirvana’s album Nevermind when he was a baby, has lost his lawsuit against the band.
A federal judge on Friday (2 September) dismissed the lawsuit filed by Elden in August last year, on the grounds that the 31-year-old had waited too long to claim the band sexually exploited him.
In his lawsuit, Elden claimed that he was the victim of “child sexual exploitation” and that the iconic cover art was a child sexual abuse image that had been “knowingly produced, possessed and advertised” by the band.
The judge’s eight-page ruling, obtained by Buzzfeed News, also effectively prohibits Elden from filing another lawsuit against Nirvana and other co-defendants, including Kurt Cobain’s widow Courtney Love, former band members Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, art director Robert Fisher, and photographer Kirk Weddle.
