Felicia Minei Behr, a multiple Daytime Emmy-winning producer of ABC’s All My Children and Ryan’s Hope and a major force in that network’s powerhouse position in the soap opera universe of the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, died Sunday, March 2, following a five-year battle with brain cancer. She was 82.

Her death was announced by daughters Kristina Behr Miller and Francesca Behr, who wrote on Facebook that their mother was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her death.

Born on September 21, 1942, on Long Island, NY, Behr began her TV career in 1960 as a secretary at CBS. In the following years she would move up the industry ladder with positions on The Jackie Gleason Show, The Ed Sullivan Show, The Garry Moore Show and ABC’s One Life to Live.

Eventually she would rise to SVP of ABC Daytime Programming from 2000-04.

Larry Auerbach, former powerhouse agent at the William Morris Agency who segued to a second career helping USC students break into into the entertainment industry, passed away peacefully this morning, Nov. 23. He was 95.

Brooklyn native Auerbach spent 47 years at Wma where he started working part-time in the New York mailroom while still in high school. He began his agenting career with small theater and nightclub booking before launching the agency’s rock music department. He ran Wma’s New York motion picture department and then moved to Los Angeles in 1975 to head the agency’s television division.

Known as “the Man with the Golden Rolodex,” Auerbach booked Elvis Presley his first television performance and also worked with Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin and Sammy Davis Jr. early in his career.

He went on to represent Alan Alda at the height of M*A*S*H, Beatrice Arthur, Agnes Nixon, and prolific TV producer Aaron Spelling.

Nearly four years since a primetime reboot of “All My Children” was first placed in development at ABC, it looks like Lifetime will instead become the new home for the latest happenings in Pine Valley.

Soap Opera Network has confirmed that the cable network is in the early stages of development on a series of TV movies that will utilize characters from the long-running daytime drama series, which ran from January 5, 1970-September 23, 2011.

According to TV Line, which first reported the news, the network is in active development on at least two “All My Children” TV movies, one of which is said to be holiday-themed. Initially, the outlet reported that talks of a revival were in the early stages, with one source describing the conversations as “exploratory.” The outlet later updated its report with confirmation from a network representative.

TVLine first broke the news that Lifetime reportedly interested in a possible revival of the series through a TV-movie franchise. Lifetime later confirmed the report to the publication, saying two possible television movies were in development. Both of them will have a holiday theme.

All My Children is eying a return, this time as a holiday movie. Lifetime is in early development on Christmas In Pine Valley, an original movie followup to the long-running ABC daytime drama, a spokesperson confirmed to Deadline.

According to sources, conversations are currently underway on the project, which is in a conceptual stage. There is no writer, and it is unclear yet which characters from the original series may be featured in the film.

Like the soap, the potential movie will be set in Pine Valley, Pennsylvania, a fictional suburb of Philadelphia, which is modeled on the actual Philadelphia suburb of Rosemont.

Lifetime is connected corporately to ABC via the broadcast network’s parent Disney, which co-owns Lifetime parent A+E Networks.

Ellen Holly, the first Black actor to have a leading role on a daytime soap opera, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. She was 92.

Ellen Holly, a stage and screen actor who became the first Black star of a daytime television series with her role as Carla Gray in ABC’s soap opera “One Life to Live,” died Wednesday at Cavalry Hospital in the Bronx, N.Y. She was 92.

Holly’s death was confirmed by a representative for the actor.

Cast on “One Life to Live” in 1968, Holly stayed with the long-running series through 1980, before returning from 1983 to 1985. Producer Agnes Nixon cast Holly in the role after reading the actor’s New York Times opinion piece “How Black Do You Have To Be?,” in which Holly recounted her personal difficulties in finding acting work as a light-skinned Black woman.

Carla Gray’s main conflict in the series regarded a love triangle between two doctors — one white, one Black. The arc predated storylines on “All My Children” and “General Hospital” that also directly confronted race.

Ellen Holly, whose long-running turn as Carla on ABC’s One Life to Live made her the first Black actress to gain stardom on a daytime soap opera, has died. She was 92.

Holly died in her sleep Wednesday at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, publicist Cheryl L. Duncan announced.

A member of The Actors Studio who did Shakespeare for Joseph Papp and was mentored by the same woman who discovered Julie Harris and Kim Stanley, Holly appeared four times on Broadway, beginning with her acclaimed performance in 1956 as the female lead in Too Late the Phalarope.

She appeared in a handful of films as well, from Take a Giant Step (1959), starring Johnny Nash, Estelle Hemsley and Ruby Dee, to School Daze (1988), directed by Spike Lee.

Holly, however, did not work as often as her talents suggested she should have, because as a light-skinned African American, she had difficulty being hired...

Peter White, who starred in ABC’s “All My Children” from 1974-1980 as Lincoln Tyler, has died at the age of 86. White’s death was confirmed by his costar Kathleen Noone to multiple news outlets.

In addition to the soap opera White also starred in the stage and film adaptations of “The Boys in the Band” as well as the drama series “Sisters.” He also made appearances on “Ally McBeal,” “The X-Files,” “The West Wing,” “Jag,” and more.

White was the third actor to take on the role of Tyler. After leaving the role in 1980, he returned for short stints in 1981, 1984, 1986, 1995, and 2005.

He joined the off-Broadway cast of “The Boys in the Band” in 1968 as Alan McCarthy. The play is about a group of gay men who are attending a birthday party in Manhattan; at the end of the play, it is unclear if White’s character is gay.

Although the Emmy Awards had been established in 1949, the categories were limited for the first few years, and performers from all genres, and from both daytime and nighttime programs, were lumped together in one or two acting categories, with daytime performers usually left out.

Dick Cavett has been named as the recipient of Writers Guild of America, East’s Evelyn F. Burkey Award for 2022. Late Night’s Seth Meyers will present the late night host, comedian and writer with the honor at the virtual WGA Awards ceremony taking place on March 20.

The award, recognizing someone who has brought honor and dignity to writers, was established in 1978 to honor Burkey, who dedicated her professional life to supporting writers, helping to create the Writers Guild of America, East in 1954, and serving as its executive director until her retirement in 1972. Per Deadline, former All My Children stars Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are prepping a sequel series for the network.

It will be a primetime continuation and is set to be called Pine Valley, if all goes to plan.

The series will focus on a young reporter with a secret agenda who arrives in town to bring Pine Valley’s deadly history to light.

The young journalist gets tied up in a feud between the Santos and Kane families.

Leo Richardson is on board to write and executive produce the project.

The Kane family was one of the most popular on All My Children, with Erica Kane becoming of the biggest characters on TV.

The new project is titled Pine Valley, aka the Pennsylvania community in which AMC was set.

“All My Children” alums Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are developing a primetime version of the classic soap opera for ABC. The project, titled “Pine Valley,” is in the early stages of development, TheWrap has learned.

For those who didn’t watch the long-running “All My Children,” which aired on ABC from 1970-2011 and had a brief revival via The Online Network in 2013, Pine Valley is the fictional Philadelphia suburb in which the soap opera was set. In the Ripa and Consuelos-produced primetime version, the story would revolve around a young journalist with a secret agenda who comes to expose the dark and murderous history of Pine Valley only to become entangled in a feud between the Kane and Santos families.

The potential series will be written by Leo Richardson (The CW’s “Katy Keene), who will executive produce alongside Ripa and Consuelo, who both had stints on “All My Children.

Newhart is not only an Emmy Award winner and frequent nominee, but the Emmys once played a lucky, key role in launching his early TV success.

Back in 1960, Newhart was known chiefly as the first artist ever to reach number 1 on the Billboard sales charts with a hit comedy album – “The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart.” He was not yet a TV star, but he was invited to perform a solo skit at the next Emmys telecast. At the last minute, Newhart was suddenly given lots of extra airtime when an “inappropriate” comedy skit planned by Mike Nichols and Elaine May got nixed (it had the nerve to mock an advertiser) and TV producers had to fill the time.

In 1962, legendary soap scribe Agnes Nixon wrote a uterine cancer storyline involving beloved Bert Bauer (Charita Bauer) on “Guiding Light,” prompting many women to visit their doctors and get Pap smears. There were no Daytime Emmys back then to acknowledge Nixon’s tale, but since 1973, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has been handing out gold statuettes to producers, writers, actors and other creative personnel for their outstanding work in social-issue stories similar to Nixon’s.

The late Nixon recounted in her 2017 memoir, “My Life to Live,” that she had to battle network execs to tell Bert’s uterine cancer story, but today’s writers appear to be able to tackle pretty much anything and everything.
