(Welcome to TV, Interrupted, a series where the /Film team remembers, eulogizes, and makes a case for the revival of TV shows we loved that were canceled far too soon.)
Post-apocalyptic stories have never been more popular ... but what about the post-post-apocalypse? What happens when the world has fallen apart temporarily, and been put back together in a slightly new shape? How do you get back to normal? And is it even desirable to do so?
It's a question a lot of us have had to ask ourselves recently. Two years ago I was standing in line for the local pharmacy on an eerily empty main street, all non-essential businesses quiet and dark. Per social distancing guidelines, there was six feet of distance between each person, such that the line stretched out and around the corner. Masks were ubiquitous by this point, even outside. It felt distinctly apocalyptic, and even...

"You better be ready to bloody run." Goldfinch Studios has released a new UK trailer for an indie comedy titled Dusty & Me, a feel-good family film about a boy and his dog. The film was once titled Against the Odds as well as Slapper and Me, but is now being released as Dusty and Me. The plot is about an 18-year-old misfit who befriends a lightning fast Greyhound, comically named Slapper by his older brother. The dog is dognapped by thieves, so Dusty and his love-interest go on a mission to find and rescue Slapper. Dusty & Me stars Genevieve Gaunt, Luke Newberry, Iain Glen, Ian Hart, and Lesley Sharp. This definitely looks as bad as it sounds, but I have a soft spot for dogs and dog movies, so I'm posting this anyway. Enjoy. Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Betsan Morris Evans' Dusty & Me, direct from YouTube: A feel-good,...

“I’m still umm-ing, how annoying for you!” he says, but interviewing Luke Newberry isn’t annoying in the least. He’s at pains to give proper answers to questions, literally so judging by some of the noises he makes in our half-hour chat. His frustrated ‘aaghs’ and ‘ooohs’ and ‘umms’ are the sound of someone who doesn’t have a ready-made patter and who doesn’t want to just say any old thing.

In the Flesh creator Dominic Mitchell has said he "wouldn't rule out a Kickstarter campaign" to resurrect the axed series as a movie.
The BAFTA winner told Radio Times that he could imagine following the path set by Veronica Mars, which came back as a fan-funded film.
"I believe a movie would perhaps work even better than a third series or webisodes," he said.
"You could really explore the parallel universe of In the Flesh. See how they handle Pds sufferers in the capital, in Scotland, in Wales, in the whole of Great Britain. That excites me a lot."
The supernatural drama - which aired two series on BBC Three before it was cancelled - was a modern take on the zombie thriller, with Partially Deceased Syndrome (or 'Pds') sufferers being reintegrated into society.

Richard Rankin stars in BBC One's new crime drama From Darkness - but does his "nice guy" character Norrie have a dark side?
In the four-parter, an unsolved case drags ex-cop Claire Church (Anne-Marie Duff) back to Manchester and away from her idyllic life in Scotland with Norrie.
"The journey that their relationship goes through is an absolutely fascinating one," Rankin told press including Digital Spy.
"There's a huge crisis in their relationship as the story unfolds. Claire's past rushes up to hit them in the face and casts a really dark shadow on life on the island.
"Norrie doesn't have a clue about any of it. He knows she's had a troubled past, but we don't imagine she's gone into a lot of detail. So that comes up and jeopardises their relationship. It fractures it."

Luke Newberry has hinted that new drama From Darkness will see him take on his most "grown-up" role to date.
The 25-year-old actor has played troubled teens in everything from E4's Banana to BBC Three's supernatural-themed In The Flesh, but stars as police officer Anthony Boyce in his new BBC One series.
"He's very intelligent," Newberry told press including Digital Spy. "But now he's a Detective Sergeant and he's been fast-tracked into this role. So he's kind of floundering a bit when we first meet him - he's not your typical guy to go into the Met."
Boyce's struggles provide a few comic moments in From Darkness, a dark thriller which follows retired officer Claire Church (Anne-Marie Duff) as she's haunted by the resurgence of an old case.

Anne-Marie Duff stars in BBC One's new crime thriller From Darkness - but has admitted she's "not a huge fan" of the genre.

New BBC Three supernatural drama Tatau starts this Sunday. We spoke to its stars, Joe Layton and Theo Barklam-Biggs, about what to expect…
As this chat with Tatau’s lead actors, Joe Layton and Theo Barklem-Biggs, took place before the press screening for BBC Three’s new supernatural drama, the pair were given the responsibility of describing the series to me: Unique. Mysterious. Fast-paced. Energy-fuelled. A hurricane. A typhoon. (Before long, they're just listing weather systems.)

This morning (April 8) brought the announcement of BAFTA's Television Awards nominations for the period between January 1 and December 31, 2014.
There was cause for celebration - with worthy contenders Happy Valley, Line of Duty, The Wrong Mans and many more recognised - but also cause for consternation, as a few of our favourites failed to make the cut.
Here's just a few unloved shows and stars that we feel were snubbed this year.
The House of Fraser BAFTA Television Awards will take place in London on Sunday, May 10.

Luke Newberry, Johnny Harris and Richard Rankin will appear in BBC One's new drama From Darkness.
Anne-Marie Duff was previously announced to lead the series, a psychological crime thriller from writer Katie Baxendale.
From Darkness tells the story of Claire Church (Duff), a former police officer who moves away to the remote Western Isles in an attempt to escape the past and violence that still haunts her.
Soon, Claire is pulled back into an investigation she thought she long left behind, by her former lover and colleague Dci John Hind (Johnny Harris) and his new DS Anthony Boyce (Luke Newberry).
The Crimson Field actor Rankin - who plays Claire's partner Norrie - said: "I'm excited to be working on another great BBC drama. Excellent script, excellent team."

Luke Newberry has described the cancellation of In the Flesh as "sad and quite unexpected".
BBC Three announced last month that the BAFTA-winning paranormal series would not be returning for a third series.
"I got a phone call from our producer just before the announcement went out," Newberry told Digital Spy. "I was just surprised more than anything - and upset for the fans because they are so committed and passionate and loyal - and they really want a third series quite desperately!"
Fans have since begun campaigning for In the Flesh to be revived - petitioning both Netflix and Amazon - with Newberry confirming to DS that he would "love" to play Kieren Walker again.
"It's had two amazing series and there's obviously more to tell - there's way more - but I guess it's up to another company now coming and picking it up," he said. "I'd love to do it again.

Luke Newberry (In the Flesh) stars as happy-go-lucky Josh in the latest episode of E4's anthology series Banana - the fifth of eight stories celebrating love without labels.
Josh has changed a lot since being away at university - he's out, gay and happy - but when he returns home for best pal Sophie's wedding, Josh begins to question himself... has he outgrown his old friend?
Newberry spoke to Digital Spy about Banana, inverting bonnets on vintage cars and why he dislikes the label 'gay drama'.
Had you seen a lot of Russell T Davies' work before you were cast as Josh?
"I obviously knew that he was behind Doctor Who and I dipped into Queer as Folk before I started - I can't remember when it was [originally] on, but I don't think I would've been aware of it..."

In The Flesh was a rare creature that will be sorely missed. Now that it’s been cancelled, will Amazon or Netflix come to its rescue?
In December, BBC Three announced a plan to leave behind genre labels when it moves online. Goodbye to comedy, drama and documentary; hello to shows that “make you laugh” and shows that “make you think”.
Weeks later, the channel announced the cancellation of original supernatural drama In The Flesh, a series that proved not only too expensive to continue, but evidently too complex. By making its audience empathise, critique, scrutinise and self-reflect on top of laughing and thinking, it seems that In The Flesh aimed too high.
“This place. It’s never going to accept people like us. Never ever.”

In the Flesh will not be returning to BBC Three, it has been confirmed.
The channel released a statement today (Friday, January 16) confirming that it has dropped the BAFTA-winning supernatural drama.
The statement reads: "BBC Three is very proud of the two award-winning series of In the Flesh. However, given there is only budget for one original drama series a year on the channel it won't be returning.
"We loved the show but have to make hard choices to bring new shows through and create room for emerging talent. Huge thanks to the BAFTA award-winning writer Dominic Mitchell and the superb cast."
Mitchell responded to news of the cancellation on Twitter, thanking In the Flesh fans for their support.

In the Flesh creator Dominic Mitchell has confirmed that the show's fate is still "up in the air".
Speaking at Wales Comic Con, the BAFTA-winner explained that the future of the zombie series should be clarified later this month.
"I think everyone would love to do a series three - I would love to write it," he said. "It's down to the BBC.
"BBC Three is going through a transitional period where they might be going online [and] that decision hasn't even been made yet. That decision will be made in mid-December, so until then it's still up in the air."
Fans of the show have started up online petitions and used the Twitter hashtag #saveintheflesh to drum up support for a third series, with Mitchell voicing his thanks for the "incredible" campaign.
"We're so appreciative for all [the fans] doing that - it's touching," he said. "The BBC do know about it...

We think BBC Three’s In The Flesh richly deserves a third series. If you agree, here’s how you can join the fan campaign to save it…
Unlike Channel 4’s Utopia, we’ve yet to hear official word on the future of BBC Three’s terrific original drama In The Flesh. Its second series ingeniously expanded the drama’s supernatural world and by its finale had clearly cemented the show’s potential as a returning series with a long future.
That was in June.
Since then, the BBC has kept fans waiting to hear renewal news, prompting a dedicated group of Rotters, apologies, the Redeemed, to take matters into their own hands and make as much noise as possible about why In The Flesh deserves to come back for a third series.
We spoke to the organisers behind the campaign to find out what they're up to, and...

Jk Rowling will revisit the world of Harry Potter with new movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and, according to producer David Heyman, the search to find Newton Scamander will begin early next year.
Fans already have their own ideas about who they'd like to see in the role of Rowling's Magizoologist and have started their own social media campaign championing an upcoming British actor for the part.
In the Flesh and Suspects star Luke Newberry is at the centre of the #LukeForNewt Twitter hashtag, which has spawned creative photoshop posters and vocal support for the 24-year-old.
Newberry is largely unknown to the wider filmgoing public, but that might not be much of a barrier. The original Harry Potter trio were unseen actors before being cast in Philosopher's Stone. Henry Cavill, like Newberry, was also a TV regular before landing the lead role in Man of Steel.

Fervent fans of BBC Three's In The Flesh were left on tenterhooks for eight weeks between the first run reaching its tragic climax and the announcement on May 22, 2013 that this unique, fascinating series would return to our screens.
But that hiatus feels like a mere blip compared to the agonising three-month wait we've been made to endure since June 8, 2014 - waiting on news of a potential third series.
For the uninitiated, In The Flesh is the story of Kieren Walker (Luke Newberry) and the residents of fictional rural community Roarton. In the aftermath of a zombie outbreak, Kieren and his fellow undead - labelled 'Partially Deceased Syndrome' sufferers - are reintegrated into 'polite' society, with Roarton soon becoming a hotbed of simmering tensions, prejudice and even bloodshed.

Channel 5's first original drama series for eight years, police procedural Suspects was seen by many as a huge risk when it launched earlier this year - unscripted, unglamorous, untested waters.
"I remember our production meeting for the first series," says Paul Marquess - Suspects co-creator and managing director of producers Newman Street. "I could just see the fear - people thinking I'd lost the plot."
But the semi-improvised series - which has its cast work not from a traditional script, but a detailed story document - was far from a failure. Instead, it proved to be one of the most diverting and original UK cop shows in recent memory, drawing an enormously positive reaction from critics.
"Everyone worked so hard on the show last year to make it great, but I was genuinely surprised at how well it was received," says Damien Molony, who plays passionate Detective Sergeant Jack Weston.

As Warner Bros announces its Fantastic Beasts set of Harry Potter films, Caroline wonders what other film spin-offs we could see next...
It’s around three years since Harry, Ron, Hermione and friends hung up their wands to much fanfare and box office revenue but, come November 2016, we’re all going back to the wizarding world for one (or three) more adventures.
Warner Bros. have released dates for a brand new trilogy set to hit cinemas in November 2016, 2018 and 2020 respectively. Few of us doubted that this would eventually happen – no matter how protective of her stories and their characters Jk Rowling might be, there was little chance that Deathly Hallows Part II was the last ever outing – even if no one saw a revival coming quite this soon.

One of Three films released this year (the other two films surprisingly both star former WWE wrestlers) based on the classic character from Greek mythology, The Legend of Hercules stars Kellan Lutz as the titular hero Hercules, in an epic origin story from iconic action director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2, Long Kiss Goodnight) and writer Sean Hood – who co-wrote the recent Conan the Barbarian remake as well as penning the original story for a personal horror favourite of mine, Midnight Movie.
In Ancient Greece 1200 B.C., a queen succumbs to the lust of Zeus to bear a son promised to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the king (played by the always awesome Scott Adkins). Borne of god and mortal,...

In the Flesh, Season 2: Episode 4 – “Episode 4″
Written by Fintan Ryan
Directed by Damon Thomas
Airs Saturday nights at 10 on BBC America
If I’ve been missing some of the more character-driven moments of In the Flesh‘s first season during this plot-driven sophomore season, “Episode 4″ instills nothing but confidence and satisfaction. Although it hasn't exactly been a breakthrough stateside, "In the Flesh," the three-part zombie apocalypse drama that first aired on the BBC, is one of the most delicate and intelligent shows you could watch this year. With the drama currently wrapping up its second series (fancy British speak for "seasons") on BBC America, it's unfortunate that it has yet to achieve the kind of hype the network's "Orphan Black" has received. "Orphan Black" is great and all, but to see "In the Flesh" falling through the cracks is a real shame. Read More: Reinventing the Zombie: How a Pair of TV Shows From France and the U.K. Have Offered New Takes on the Living DeadEnglish actor Luke Newberry stars as Kieren "Ren" Walker, a fragile teenager who committed suicide following the death of his best friend, Rick. But, because the show takes place in a zombified world, Ren comes...
