For a “Saturday Night Live” star who has yet to headline a major motion picture, Pete Davidson is impressively eager to tear down his own comic persona. Writer-director Jason Orley’s debut feature “Big Time Adolescence” is all about how Davidson’s relaxed, immature comic persona is undeniably charming but can also get real old, real fast.
That’s not a problem with the movie; that’s the whole point of it. “Big Time Adolescence” stars Griffin Gluck (“Tall Girl”) as Monroe “Mo” Harris, a teenager whose best friend is Zeke (Davidson), the older kid who lets him watch R-rated movies, taste beer for the first time, and look at nude pictures of girls on his phone. Or, as Mo calls it, “adult stuff.”

There are two upcoming movie musicals that, for a long time, I've wanted to make into motion pictures, should someone with money be willing to give me the funds to make them -- Into The Woods and The Last 5 Years. I'm both nervous and excited to see how directors Rob Marshall and Richard Lagravenese, respectfully, have interpreted the material I hold so close to my heart. I am especially nervous for Into The Woods, given Marshall's less than impressive track record. If someone is going to screw up something I cherish, it should be me. Of course, there are far more than two musicals I have a deep connection to. Some have already been made into films, like Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Les Miserables, but there is a vast collection of musicals I have thought could make fantastic films, but have never been made.

We all remember our big firsts—first kiss, first dance, first nailed audition. Now on Monday, Feb. 10, hear about similar famous milestones in the lives of Broadway stars like Nick Blaemire (“Godspell”), Max von Essen (“Evita”), Julia Murney (“Wicked”) and more, through their performances at the benefit concert “Feels Like the First Time,” presented at (le) Poisson Rouge by The Craptacular. All of the proceeds from the show will go to Children’s Hospital Colorado and to three-year-old Cameron Huffine, who’s recently been diagnosed with Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Cancer. In addition to the above mentioned stars, performances will also be presented by Tony Award winner Nikki M. James (“The Book of Mormon”), Tony nominees Tony Sheldon (“Priscilla Queen of the Desert”) and Barbara Walsh (“Falsettos”), Andrew Keenan-Bolger (“Newsies”), Kyle Dean Massey (“Next to Normal”), Ben Platt (“The Book of Mormon”), Elizabeth Stanley (“Million Dollar Quartet”), and Andrew Kober (“Hair”), who will host.
