Professor James Moriarty finally got the best of the world’s greatest detective, and, as a result, the upcoming CBS series Watson takes place after the death of Sherlock Holmes. The first trailer (below) reveals Holmes’ venerable sidekick, Dr. Watson (Morris Chestnut), busily recruiting four of the world’s most brilliant physicians to also serve as detectives for their patients. Watson’s synopsis reads as follows via a press release from CBS Entertainment:
“Watson takes place six months after the death of the titular character’s friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty. The show stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson, who resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though –
Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.

Watson looks like it's going to be a fantastic mix of genres for CBS and here's what to know about it!
There have been scores of TV shows based on Sherlock Holmes, including CBS's own Elementary, starring Jonny Lee Miller as a modern version of the iconic detective. This take was interesting with Lucy Liu as Joan Watson, a very capable assistant to Sherlock and a good detective in her own right.
Now, CBS is going back to the well with the upcoming Watson which looks like an interesting mix of the Holmes mythos and the Fox series House (which makes sense as Holmes inspired that). The first trailer hints at the great mixing of medical and crime drama that should make this a standout show!
What is Watson about?
The show takes place months after the apparent death of Sherlock Holmes as John Watson (Morris Chestnut) is still in mourning.

/Film's Ben Silvero attended a panel on the series at New York Comic Con, where the cast revealed details about their return appearances. Notably, Brent Spiner will apparently be back not as beloved character Data but as Dr. Noonian Soong's android Lore, while another memorably piece of AI, the hologram of Sherlock Holmes character Professor James Moriarty, will also return with original actor Daniel Davis in the role.

The Next Generation crew is finally reuniting for Star Trek: Picard season 3, and it’s as much a welcome return for a whole lineup of memorable Starfleet characters as it is an ambitious sendoff for the beloved captain of the Enterprise.
Joining Sir Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard on next year’s galactic adventure are Jonathan Frakes as William Riker, LeVar Burton as Geordi Laforge, Michael Dorn as a pacifist Worf, Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher, and Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi. Also returning are regular Picard cast members Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) and Michelle Hurd (Raffi). But that’s not all.
A new trailer released during the Star Trek Universe panel at this year’s New York Comic Con has revealed that there are even more characters from The Next Generation returning. If you haven’t watched it already, give the trailer a look below:
