Infidelity is rarely black and white but there are certain lines which should never be crossed. Matt René’s What We Did Yesterday finds a woman returning home early from a trip to a flat in disarray and as she wanders through her home, strewn with the evidence of her partner’s betrayal, she is hit by a sickening truth. When deciding on the fresh tack a portrayal of this well trodden subject matter could take for his directorial debut, René decided not to focus on the hurt, the pain and the cacophony of heartbreak that inevitably erupts from such a life shattering discovery but instead, the immediate blisteringly dreadful moments of realisation as to what this particular deception means. What We Did Yesterday cloisters us in a small flat with nowhere apparent to hide, leaning into a voyeuristic approach as it captures the inconceivable emotions echoing through its protagonist’s very being.

Production is under way on Altitude Film Entertainment and Citrus Films’ family movie Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans, based on the popular children’s book series by Terry Deary and illustrated by Martin Brown.
Shooting now on location in the UK and Bulgaria, the film will cast the antics of the Roman Empire in a comedic light. It will follow Atti, a Roman teenager with brains but very little brawn. When one of his clever schemes falls foul of Emperor Nero, he is forced to join the army and is sent to miserable, cold, wet Britain where the natives are revolting – quite literally. Things go from bad to worse when Atti is captured by Orla, a feisty teenage Celt desperate to prove herself as a warrior.
Dominic Brigstocke, director of the TV version of the series, will make his feature directorial debut. Script comes from Jessica Swale together with Giles Pilbrow and Caroline Norris.

With reports of a Horrible Histories feature film in development, we salute the genius songs of a magnificent show...
Ah, Horrible Histories. The show that brings all the slapstick humour and wordplay of Blackadder and Monty Python to a young audience. It’s a rare and marvellously British televisual feast (points for citing the reference, there): a bunch of hugely talented actors charging around in historical outfits, singing songs and starring in genius pop culture-inspired spoofs to deliver the darker side of history to school children.
