When it comes to the X-Men, it doesn't get bigger - or better - than Wolverine. As Logan himself said in Deadpool and Wolverine, he is the X-Man. The truth is that when the vast majority of us think about Marvel's Mightiest Mutants, "Wolvie" is the first one that comes to mind - and that really says a lot about his popularity because he's technically not even the leader of the iconic team.

There is a lot to love about the character, even if you have to look beyond his gruff exterior. The first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s Superman is out, and it makes a very sneaky nod to Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball and Superman have always had a lot of overlap thanks to their sci-fi themes and the blatant similarities between Goku and Superman, and while that often sparks arguments between the two fandoms, it often leads to just as much camaraderie between the fandoms, even on a creative level.

The overlap between Dragon Ball and Superman is undeniable, and James Gunn’s Superman is, surprisingly, the latest work to bring it up. The first teaser trailer for the film opens with an injured Superman lying in a crater, and with how his body is positioned, the teaser trailer for James Gunn’s Superman might have referenced Dragon Ball by putting Superman in Yamcha’s iconic death pose.

The Dragon Ball fever is heating up again with new releases in its anime, games, and more manga with the latest announcement of a special release by Dragon Ball Super artist Toyotarou. As mentioned by @DbsHype on X (formerly Twitter) and confirmed by Anime News Network, the new manga is titled Dragon Ball Super Divers and releases in October 21, 2024's issue of V Jump, with the catch being that it's a one-shot. The manga is set to coincide with the November 7 launch of the eponymous arcade game as cross-promotion as it explores portions from all over Dragon Ball's timeline.

Dragon Ball Super Divers is Toyotarou's latest manga project, a 32-page one-shot featuring battles between "the Z Fighters vs.

Many notable One Piece pirates rose to power during the Great Pirate Era, and several Marines stood up to face them. Monkey D. Garp is the legendary Marine Vice Admiral who battled the former Pirate King numerous times. He was offered several promotions, but he refused to become an Admiral because he believed he would lose most of his freedom. Garp has made many enemies over the years, but only a handful of individuals can be considered his rivals.

Most of Garp's biggest rivals are Yonko-level pirates, but he also has issues with another Marine and a former student. All of these individuals possess Haki, but some of them also have Devil Fruit powers. Garp is now in his late 70s, but he is still a force to be reckoned with because of his Haki mastery. His Galaxy Impact attacks uses advanced Conqueror's Haki, and can still destroy a small town.

Some of the best anime are adaptations of popular manga. Some adaptations thrive on how much they enhance the original source material with stellar animation. Others excel simply through the competency with which they adapt their stories.

While there are plenty of great original anime out there, adaptations are typically the ones that get the most attention. Since they're typically adapted from works with pre-established fanbases, people already know what to expect from them, and anime studios, in turn, will put a lot of extra effort into them to further sell them to old and new fans alike.

Upon being picked up, a manga adaptation can either go very poorly or it could hopefully end up enhancing the source material, earning a favorable reception from readers and viewers alike.

"X-Men '97" brings back the marvelous mutants as if they never left TV screens after the original series finale, "Graduation Day." The trailer promised a tone and style befitting the original, plus plenty of Marvel comic book Easter eggs.

Now, the X-Men are larger than life — and ultimately, any one actor. In the 27-year hiatus between the 1992 series and this revival, the X-Men finally made it to live-action (we ranked their cinematic adventures here) and starred in other animated series. Since "X-Men '97" is a revival of a specific version of the X-Men, though, the show has brought back cast members and creatives from the original show. If they hadn't, then why revive this series instead of just making a new "X-Men" cartoon?

In its opening titles, "X-Men" would introduce each member of the team one-by-one with hero shots demonstrating their powers and/or quirks alongside huge text displaying their names.

The creator of Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama, passed away at 68 due to bleeding to the brain. Toriyama's legacy includes iconic works like Dragon Ball and Dragon Quest, making him a timeless icon. His family asks for privacy and respect, with no additional offerings or interviews allowed at this time.

Akira Yoriyama, the creator of the Dragon Ball franchise, has passed away at the age of 68. Though he died March 1st of bleeding to the brain (or acute subdural hematoma), his passing was only just announced, with the family asking for privacy. An official statement was released from Bird Studio and reads as follows:

"Dear Friends and Partners,

"We are deeply saddened to inform you that manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1st due to acute subdural hematoma. He was at the age of 68.

"It’s our deep regret that he still had several works in the middle of creation with great enthusiasm.

The Super Dragon Ball Heroes manga reveals a new, extremely powerful form of Buu, Dark Demon God Buu, created by absorbing Dabura and the 3-Star Dark Dragon Ball. Time Patrollers, led by Future Trunks, are tasked with retrieving the Dark Dragon Ball and defeating an alternate version of Buu to set the past timeline back on course. Dark Demon God Buu proves to be incredibly strong, later absorbing Xeno Janemba and the 5-Star Dark Dragon Ball, making him the strongest form the Majin has ever taken on.

The Buu Saga of Dragon Ball is one of the longest, with the villainous Buu going through a number of increasingly powerful forms before finally being defeated. However, the Super Dragon Ball Heroes manga revealed a new form of Buu that fans didn't get to see, one which wields a terrifying amount of power thanks to Dabura and the 3-Star Dark Dragon Ball.

Vegeta is shonen anime's most iconic deuteragonist. In comparison to most of the Z Fighters though, Vegeta is actually one of the newer additions to the team, having only been introduced in Dragon Ball Z. Nevertheless, he quickly became a fan-favorite character due to his taking the central role in some of the greatest moments in the Dragon Ball franchise.

Much of Vegeta's journey in Dbz was about humbling himself as he struggled to catch up to Goku's power as a Super Saiyan. Along the way, Vegeta engages in many incredible battles that have become just as memorable for fans as Goku's biggest fights. In some ways, Vegeta's more aggressive, merciless style of combat is even more entertaining to watch than Goku's.

Goku is one of anime's most iconic and instantly recognizable characters. During his story, Dragon Ball's legendary Saiyan warrior has taken part in many memorable battles, facing off against many foes, from long-term rivals to creatures that vanish from the story as quickly as they appear. However, in this massive list of battles, some stand out for being better than the rest.

While all the fights in Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super are fun, some go above and beyond, delivering a viewing experience unlike anything else, presenting audiences with battles that will stick with them long after the episode concludes. These battles are often vastly different from the franchise's usual fare, using unique combat styles, set pieces, or plot points to keep the action fresh, meaning they stand out even more.

A voiceover artist known for her role in Beast Wars: Transformers has sadly been confirmed as having passed away.

Pauline Newstone was a Canadian voice acting talent with a long career, and she supplied her vocals to several franchises. These included Western animation, as well as English dubs of numerous anime. Newstone's passing at the age of 79 actually occurred early in May 2023, though the exact reasons are not currently known. The news was broadcast on Twitter/X by Candice Santora, a collaborator of Garry Chalk. Chalk worked alongside Pauline Newstone on the show that became one of her most notable gigs.

One of Pauline Newstone's most well-known roles was in the CGI Mainframe animated series Beast Wars: Transformers. This 1996-1998 cartoon was a unique entry in Hasbro's Transformers franchise. Radically different from the previous 1980s animated series from Sunbow, this series replaced the franchise's Autobots and Decepticons with Maximals and Predacons.

"Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" is set to introduce a whole new breed of Robot in Disguise. Instead of cars, trucks, or jets, these Transformers turn into beasts of all shapes and sizes. Known as the Maximals and Predacons, these animal transformers will soon be duking it out alongside their Autobot and Decepticon cousins.

The characters first debuted in the 1996 cartoon "Beast Wars." I am decades away from the target audience for the just-released Krypto the Superdog: the Complete Series. Ever since the Canine of Steel arrived in 1955, he has been a popular supporting player, and with all-things super-heroic now part of the pop culture zeitgeist, it made perfect sense to give him a series for the younger side of the television demographic.

All 39 episodes of the 2005 series are presented here, adapted by producer Chris Mitchell. Joining Krypto (voiced by Sam Vincent) on his crimefighting adventures are Streaky (Brian Drummond), Supergirl’s pet cat, and Ace the Bathound (Scott McNeil). They even created Stretch-o-Mutt (Lee Tockar) to round things out. “Women Talking,” the drama from director Sarah Polley that stars Frances McDormand, has rounded out its cast, assembling an impressive group that includes Rooney Mara, Claire Foy and Jessie Buckley, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Also joining the cast of “Women Talking” are Judith Ivey, Sheila McCarthy, Michelle McLeod and Ben Whishaw. August Winter, Liv McNeil and Kate Hallett, all in their feature film debuts, are on board as well.

The film, which is based on a novel by Miriam Toews, is set up at MGM’s Orion Pictures and is being produced by Plan B. McDormand is also producing via her Hear/Say Productions.

If you are a fan of Syfy's Battlestar Galactica, you probably know that some scenes of the series were filmed in and around the extensive forests of western British Columbia. What you may not realise, however, is that two of the show's stars - Tricia Helfer (Number Six) and Tahmoh Penikett ('Helo') - have lent their talents to a new indie docu-drama that is intended to raise awareness of issues associated with cutting down some of these forests.

The film, called The Green Chain, was written, directed and co-produced by Vancouver-born Mark Leiren-Young. His previous credits include scripts for episodes of the series The Collector, Blood Ties and Psi Factor. He has also written a book, 'Never Shoot a Stampede Queen', articles for 'Time Magazine', 'Maclean's' and 'The Utne Reader', and stage plays.
