Star Trek episodes occasionally feature sequels to earlier episodes, allowing for a cohesive continuity in the franchise. The Berman era shows frowned upon serialization but had a surprising number of sequel episodes to maintain continuity. Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager all have standalone episodes that can be enjoyed by new viewers.
There are a surprising number of Star Trek episodes that are essentially sequels to earlier episodes, either within the same show, or on other shows in the same era. In Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and earlier seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, the common practice was that each episode of Star Trek was a single, stand-alone story that didn't require too much foreknowledge of earlier events in the Star Trek timeline. Janeway's love interests on Star Trek: Voyager were carefully chosen, resulting in memorable relationships with varying levels of chemistry and depth. Tom Paris and Gath were Janeway's least significant and forgettable love interests, while Chakotay had the strongest connection with her. Janeway's relationship with Q was hilariously memorable, while her romance with Jaffen was tragically heartfelt.
Captain Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) had a handful of memorable love interests during Star Trek: Voyager's run, but some were undeniably more compelling. Janeway was Captain of the USS Voyager for all seven seasons of the show, and the first woman to hold the position on a Star Trek TV show as the series lead. Janeway was a trailblazer for the franchise, but Voyager's creative time also made sure that she did not become a one-dimensional character, allowing her to experience the full spectrum of human emotion with her strengths and flaws both on display.

Seska's hologram was not included in Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 because she posed a security risk and had turned the holodeck program into a dangerous one. Seska's holograph had the ability to control the ship's systems and endanger the entire crew, making her more dangerous than the other holographic villains featured. If Seska's hologram had remained, she could have easily taken over Voyager's systems and exacted her revenge, leaving the crew with no way to defeat her except for deleting the program.

This post contains spoilers for the season 4 premiere of "Star Trek: Lower Decks."
The first episode of the fourth season of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," called "Twovix," plunges Trekkies straight into a cauldron of "Star Trek: Voyager" references. It's as if the writers had been saving up all their "Voyager" jokes and, golly, just couldn't stand holding back any longer. Fans of Captain Janeway and her famous, decades-old vessel will have a bloody field day spotting all the references to particular 1990s episodes, and seeing the hallways and bridge of the U.S.S. Voyager realized in animation will certainly provide a thrill. The makers of "Lower Decks" even threw in a few notable notes from Jerry Goldsmith's orchestral theme song, and cast "Voyager" actor Ethan Phillips in a notable supporting role. Those "Voyager" fans are of an intrepid class.
Even the plot of "Twovix" is a spiritual sequel...

Captain Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) is one of Starfleet's very best captains, as proved by her best Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Prodigy episodes. After making the difficult decision to strand her crew in the Delta Quadrant, Janeway was determined to return them home by any means necessary. Although she would largely stick by the rules of the Prime Directive, Janeway often took huge risks to shorten the USS Voyager's 75-year journey home. Her loyalty to her crew guaranteed the same in return, as they too would often risk everything to save their captain.
Janeway's crew of Starfleet officers and Maquis terrorists was evidence of her ability to see potential in anyone, regardless of their ideologies. Years later, she demonstrated this again both in holographic, and real-life form, when she recognized the potential in the young alien heroes who had acquired the USS Protostar in Star Trek: Prodigy. Belfast-based Causeway Pictures is launching its Irish Gothic label, which is focused on genre films that have inspiration from Irish legends.
Causeway MD Chris Patterson is teaming with writer/director Richard Crawford and writer/director Spence Wright to plan the ten-film slate to be produced over the next five years. The films will include Wright’s Vampires vs Leprechauns and the series Hy-Brasil set on a phantom island.
As Chris Patterson, explains, “Irish myths and legends are rich with wondrous and terrible creatures. The Irish Gothic banner will put them in front of a modern horror audience and create a lasting legacy that hopefully will become a genre of its own.”
The label kicked off last week in London at a stage reading, hosted by Northern Ireland Screen, of The Morrigan [pictured] by writer/director Richard Crawford.
Aisling Walsh directed the stage reading at the Soho Theatre, which starred Games of Thrones alums Fintan McKeown and Hannah Murray with Ciaran McMenamin...

[1] HBO's epic fantasy series Game of Thrones was such a big hit when it premiered this past spring that the network renewed [2] it for a second season just days after the first episode aired. But it's been a long three months since the first season ended, and with the advent of the fall TV season, even the most diehard fans probably haven't thought about the series in quite some time. In an effort to remind you of just how much you're looking forward to Season 2, HBO has released a very short new teaser. The video reveals pretty much nothing, aside from what seems to be the marketing slogan for the new season, but I welcome the reminder all the same. Watch it after the jump. The 17-second teaser not only has no new footage, there's actually no footage at all, despite the fact that the series has been shooting since earlier this summer.

So it looks like Prince Arthur (Bradley James) is getting a little action, and we're not talking about swords, armor and horses.Instead, it's with Gwen (Angel Coulby) in Friday's new "Merlin," which airs on Syfy.In "The Once and Future Queen," Arthur's life is in danger when King Odin (Fintan McKeown) hires an assassin (Adrian Lester) to take Arthur out. Odin, of course, is pissed because Arthur had killed his son in a duel.Arthur, not aware of this plot on his life, decides that it's time he proves he's good at jousting without having to have other contestants "let the Wookie win."Ok, have no clue what Wookies have to do with Camelot, but let's just say Arthur feels that he's not being given a chance to show his true skill in jousting. At some point, Arthur and Gwen kiss.So there you go! ...
