In twenty-four hours, Gemma Foster uncovered a mole, forged an alliance over monkfish, stalked her son, wine-cried in front of his best mate, spied on her ex’s new wife, had it large, shagged a teacher and ate a croissant.
Blimey. I’m lucky if I get two loads of washing in on my day off.

Quantico‘s Simon may have lied about wearing glasses, adoring coffee and being gay, executive producer Joshua Safran says, but his tearful confession in Sunday’s episode was the real deal.

Over the past few weeks we’ve been given many opportunities to examine the implications of artificial life through several prisms. There’s language, of course. Do we refer to synths by personal or impersonal pronouns? The question of rights too. Are synths entitled to decide what they do with their own bodies? Can we even think of their chassis as their ‘own bodies’, or are they merely the property of whoever’s name is on the warranty?
And then there’s the concept of family, an idea that this episode explored at length. It is customary to use the language of family in the context of innovation, in the way that, say, Robert Oppenheimer is spoken of as ‘the father of the atomic bomb’, or the way...

Have you ever wished a fantastic song struck up the moment you walked into a room? It’s something that happens in movies, never in real life. But there are sounds that do accompany us in our every day lives. The ambient sound of the wind, cars driving by, idle chatter, coffee brewing. We rarely notice these noises because they are simply a part of the background, but what if suddenly all these unnoticeable noises were amplified? A subway car rushing by so loudly you’re forced to cover your ears. The chatter in a coffee shop becoming deafening. A copy machine sounding like gun fire. And no one else seems to notice. You would think you were going crazy, right? This is exactly what seems to be happening to Simon James (Jesse Eisenberg) in The Double. Simon seems like an ordinary guy with a boring job, a small apartment, and...

The co-creator of “The Simpsons” never imagined he would earn tens of millions of dollars from the show’s royalties when it launched in 1989, but as Sam Simon, 58, faces a terminal diagnosis, he’s decided to give it nearly all away.
When he was diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer, the comedic genius behind "Taxi" and "The Drew Carey Show" was given three to six months to live. Simon has wasted no time mulling over his fate, and has decided to focus his waning days on carving out his philanthropic legacy by leaving most of his fortune to the causes he cares for most, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It’s a gesture that’s won over his already loyal fans.

Britney Spears is confirming what everyone already suspected. She is quitting "The X Factor."
Spears says in a statement, "I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it's time for me to get back in the studio."
While it's been reported Simon Cowell was ready to give Brit the boot, she tells a different story.
"Watching [the contestants] all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much," says Spears. "I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most."
L.A. Reid announced last month he would not be returning, which leaves Demi Lovato as the remaining chess piece. Some say Demi's days are already numbered, so Simon may have his work cut out for him,...

She's sassy with Simon Cowell and, after Thursday's elimination of CeCe Frey, she became the first judge this season to lose all her contestants on The X Factor.
So, should freshman judge Demi Lovato be worried about going the way of season 1's female judges, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger?
"It's that time of year [when] you're always going to get asked that question," Cowell told People after Thursday's show, "and I'm not going to answer it."
If Demi does leave the show it won't be due to any personal issues Simon may have with the "Give Your Heart a Break" singer.

The X Factor Top 10 took to the stage tonight in a special Thanksgiving-themed episode of the Fox singing competition.
Who laid an egg? Who stuffed his/her performance with holiday goodness? How many Turkey Day-related puns can we make in this review? Find out below!
Tate Stevens, “I’m Already There" - Consistent, strong, perfectly suitable for who many consider to be the front-runner. Britney calls it "special."
Diamond White, "Because You Loved Me" - Demi is "blown away" and rightfully so. Sung in honor of her mother, this teen really is "fearless and incredible," as dubbed by Simon.
Emblem3, “Secrets" - Blah. This group is all flash and little substance. Simon may have been down with the song choice, but we're with L.A. Where was the emotion?
Arin Ray, "Hero" - He dedicates the inspiring ballad to his brother. In related news, we're very sorry to Arin Ray's brother.

We've got to hand it to you, X Factor, you've certainly been keeping us on our toes this season. For two weeks, Fox advertised that the live shows would start November 1st. Then, in a head-scratching act of self-sabotage, the network decided at the last minute to launch them a day early. You know, on Halloween night, when people are more focused on candy and costumes, and just two days after "Frankenstorm" hit the east coast. Now, network execs are probably sitting around wondering why ratings keep plummeting.

The alarmed look on Simon Cowell’s face said it all. Tuesday night’s Top 16 announcement telecast of The X Factor featured more hysterical weeping than a Grey’s Anatomy season finale, a Justin Bieber concert, and an onion-slicing competition combined.
But all those tears weren’t entirely for naught. Demi Lovato and Simon Cowell narrowed down their respective Young Adult and Groups acts from six to four — and combined with the decisions by Britney Spears (Teens) and L.A. Reid (Over 25s) that aired last week in certain parts of the country (see the recap of those decisions here) — leading...

Oh, Annie what have you gotten yourself into? "Loving the Alien" showed how far Annie has strayed both professionally and personally.
Ever since the end of the season premiere, "Hang On to Yourself," I have been worried about Annie; her decision to join Simon in the shower made me extremely sad. No longer was Annie the innocent CIA agent that we first met.
On the heels of her transfer request from the Dpd, Annie decided to go rogue to continue her relationship with Simon. Of course, Lena couldn't officially approve her "vacation" to Cuba, but helped Annie and then lied to Joan about any knowledge of Annie's whereabouts.
In the past, Annie always let Auggie in on what she was doing, even if not necessarily approved. At this point, she has even cut him off from this part of her professional and personal life. Their scene by the elevator was...

America's Danny DeVito and Britain's Richard Griffiths join forces in this joyous revival of Neil Simon's 1972 comedy about a pair of superannuated vaudevillians. But what makes the play profoundly touching as well as funny is Simon's understanding of the obduracy, childishness and professional neglect that are often inseparable from old age.
The play has echoes of Simon's greatest hit, The Odd Couple. This play is also about two men in a quasi-marital relationship. For 43 years Willie Clark and Al Lewis were a headline double-act but, after a decade in non-speaking retirement, they are to be reunited for a CBS comedy special. But Willie is a cantankerous old cuss who loathes his ex-partner because of his decision to quit the business. Al, meanwhile, is a gentler soul who lives with his daughterin New Jersey and wonders why he should go through an old routine with the waspishly vindictive Willie.

Simon May, who composed the original EastEnders theme in 1984, has reworked the tune to create 'Pat's Theme' - which will play out at the end of the Albert Square legend's last episode. EastEnders bids a heartbreaking farewell to Pat on New Year's Day following her recent diagnosis of terminal cancer. In real life, meanwhile, Pam St Clement has decided to bow out from EastEnders to pursue other work and life opportunities. Oh for the love of, let this be true. A report on today’s HuffPost Celebrity suggests that Bravo has given the ax to Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, and Alex McCord of the Real Housewives of New York. “No decisions have been made yet,” is all a Bravo rep would allow to EW. If the network does indeed shed the trio, that would leave Sonja Morgan, Countess LuAnn, and two remaining original cast members Ramona Singer and Pinot Grigio. Poor Cindy Barshop, last season’s disappointing addition to the line-up, didn’t even warrant a mention. (Though she later coughed...

"Reason to Believe" was easily one of the best Combat Hospital's of the season. From its tense Hurt Locker-like opening - with the horror of a bomb disposal gone wrong - to its emotional questions of faith, this hour hooked me from moment one and never let go.
We found Chaplain Marjorie Plotell having a crisis of faith. Apparently war is Hell, even on God. Somehow, as she watched Simon profess his arrogance in his skills as a surgeon, it only made her feel more inadequate.
Simon was in rare form tonight. He labeled Dobbs' pieces of broken vertebrae "annoying" and was sure he could save the use of the man's arms. Thankfully, Simon's skill and talent were able to keep up with his ego since it was a surgery he'd never before performed.

Simon Cowell has masterminded the "toughest-ever" 'X Factor'. The 51-year-old music mogul - who is still in charge of the ITV1 talent show, despite having quit the judging panel to launch the series in the Us - is planning a major revamp of the competition, which will include a gruelling five-day boot camp stage. In a bid to restore 'The X Factor' to its glory days, he will put contestants through dance classes, workshops, songwriting sessions given by special guests and lightning auditions, which will see hopefuls forced to learn and perform a track in under an hour. Simon Cowell is planning to shake things up – again!
The music mogul is said to be desperate to make things different for this series of The X Factor, in a bid to re-engage viewers and hopefully help them forget that most of their favourite judges are gone.

The music mogul is said to be desperate to make things different for this series of The X Factor, in a bid to re-engage viewers and hopefully help them forget that most of their favourite judges are gone.

The X Factor returned to New Jersey on Wednesday for the first of two days of judges round auditions. EW joined an audience of roughly 5,000 for the day’s second taping at Newark’s Prudential Center, which featured 22 contestants. Fox told journalists to refrain from IDing performers and revealing their song choices, backstories, and comments to the judges, as well as quoting the judges’ critiques, so we’ll have to speak generally. But we were able to cull together the following list of 10 things you can expect from The X Factor this fall.
1. No booing, even when it’s warranted.

Simon Cowell’s family and friends have reportedly begged the TV boss to slow down, before he ends up in an early grave.
The 51 year old star lurches from one reality TV show to the next and is currently working all hours, planning his new American series of X Factor, his replacements on the UK version and his return to Britain’s Got Talent next month.
Insiders say Simon is also considering an appearance on America’s Got Talent and it has already been announced that he is working on a new gameshow format for ITV1.
Cowell’s mum Julie Cowell thinks it’s all too much and is said to be worried that her son will die prematurely with heart problems like his dad Eric.
A source close to the family told The Sun:

Nicole Scherzinger has joked that Simon Cowell doesn’t give her enough credit for putting X Factor boyband One Direction together.
The former Pussycat Doll was standing in for Dannii Minogue on last year’s series of the ITV show, when she, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh decided to ask solo entrants Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Zain Malik and Niall Horan to join forces and form a group.
They have went on to become one of the most popular acts from the series and speaking to The Sun, Nicole admitted that she would like some credit for that.
She said:
‘Simon has me to thank for putting One Direction together.’
‘But I don’t get any credit.
‘I won’t be getting a cut of the money they make him.’

Simon Cowell has confirmed that he will have four judges on his new American X Factor series.
The music mogul was being interviewed by Fox’s Jane Yamamoto – for the TV network that will air his newest reality TV offering – and put an end to speculation that he will bring the show back to a three judge format.
When the interviewer asked if the format would consist of him and two other judges, he replied:
No Jane It’s not. It starts with me and three other judges darling!
But all may not be as it seems. Simon may reduce the panel at a later stage, possibly when he leaves to appear on the UK series and when asked to clarify that there will be three stars joining him he laughed:
That’s the start….essentially.
Names in the frame so far have been Cheryl Cole, Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera and Paula Abdul.

Louis Walsh stood in for David Hasselhoff at yesterday’s Britain’s Got Talent auditions.
Hasselhoff and comedian Michael McIntryre were recently announced as new members of the judging panel, who will sit alongside Amanda Holden and be joined by Simon Cowell when the live shows start.
However the former Baywatch star can’t start attending auditions until he is finished his panto stint on January 16, so yesterday the Irish X Factor judge took his place on the panel.
Writing on Twitter about the auditions, Holden (who recently announced that she is six months pregnant) said: “Five minutes until we’re on stage! Michael is pacing, I’m eating and Louis is checking his quiff!”
She added: “It’s going well! Michael is doing a grand job and Louis is ace of course! Piers who?!”
Simon may regret choosing Louis as a stand in, as when the greying star took...

One Direction have denied rumours that they have already landed a record deal with Simon Cowell.
Insiders had claimed that the music mogul had already started work on the boyband’s debut album, with a source telling The Sun:
“It’s a done deal. Writers and producers connected with his Syco label have already been asked to pitch tracks for the group.”
However Louis Tomlinson, 18, hit out at the claims, telling X Magazine:
“We haven’t been signed, we need to win to get a record contract. Don’t assume we have a deal. People really do need to vote.”
Harry backed him up, saying:
“I think it’s about time a group won, and we’d like to be the first group to win. We love and appreciate the support we’ve had so far. We need it now more than ever. This means everything to us.”

Simon Cowell has defended X Factor contestant Katie Waissel, saying that he likes her risk taking behaviour.
The music mogul has been a strong supporter of the 24 year old singer throughout the series, despite the huge amount of negative attention she has received.
Speaking to The Mirror yesterday he compared Katie to Lady Gaga saying:
“This year I didn’t want just sob stories to grab votes. And that’s why I like somebody like Katie – she wants to be a pop star and I like people to take risks.
“I’ve always been a big fan of hers. I remember the first time I saw Lady Gaga I honestly didn’t know what was going on – the second and third time I got it.

Simon Cowell's mother thinks he got engaged too quickly. The music mogul's mother Julie Cowell has revealed her son and his fiancee Mezhgan Hussainy, who he got engaged to in March, are currently having a "break" from each other with the make-up artist going to the U.S. to visit her family while Simon films the U.K. version of his pop star search show "The X Factor".
The 85 year old believes Simon may have rushed into things too soon with Mezhgan. She told the Mail on Sunday newspaper, "I think [the engagement] was too quick. This might give them the break they need to think it through. Marriage is a very, very big step. It's a break at the moment. The problem with Simon is that he works so hard."

X Factor bosses are reportedly set against Simon Cowell bringing Cheryl Cole to his American version of the show.
Insiders suggest that Fox executives would rather have Mariah Carey than the Geordie singer on the new TV venture, saying that audiences would never understand Cheryl’s thick accent.
A source told The Mirror:
“The Fox executives are totally against Cheryl joining the panel.
“Simon has put her forward and is trying to persuade them she’s perfect for the job.
“But they’re saying that together with her accent being difficult to understand, and nobody knowing who she is, she doesn’t have the star qualities to draw in an audience.
“They are going to be competing with American Idol’s star-studded panel of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and J-Lo, and Cheryl just doesn’t cut it compared to them. She’s not a name.

Let's get it right out there: Let Me In is a devil that deserves more than sympathy.

The spawn of the Scandinavian vampire flick that famously froze art house audiences to the bone, Let The Right One In, Let Me In achieves what so many other Americanized remakes fail: it is its own movie. From the opening shot of bone-white snowfields that cascade into an eerie early-80s period piece, it establishes its character. Storm Lee made his X Factor debut tonight.
The singer is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland but moved to America when he was just 17 in the hopes of breaking into the music business. He has enjoyed some degree of success but this year, returned to the UK to try out for the ITV talent show.
For his X Factor audition, Lee sang ‘Every Breath You Take’ by Police but when he finished, Simon said that the performance didn’t work and Storm was allowed to sing his second song ‘Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ by U2.
Judges Comments:
Simon told him:
“I’m not going to call you Storm anymore, because I think it’s a stupid name.”
Cheryl Cole admonished him saying:
“Simon! I’m going to call him Storm. I think that’s very very rude.”
Storm laughed:
“I think it is. Thank you Cheryl.

Simon Cowell is said to be furious with X Factor producers for the recent autotune scandal.
Fans have complained in their thousands after the voice altering technology was used during Saturday night’s launch show, to adjust the vocals of hopefuls such as Gamu Nhengu and the better half of G&S.
On our review of Gamu’s performance, Unreality TV readers blasted the show saying:
I wonder what she would sound like without the Autotune? Clearly the mics have been rigged with Autotune this year, which is really sad.
Another added:
The problem is you can hear it… It sounds very unnatural when used so blatantly. They should he ashamed. This is supposed to be a singing competition.
And another viewer pointed out:
Under the autotune it sounded like she could sing ok. So why are they using autotune during auditions. Bit silly really.

David Simon has become famous for creating the type of television that make viewers want to breath inside his detail-heavy landscapes — even if those settings (like his gritty but all-to-real Baltimore streets in "Homicide: Life on the Street" and "The Wire") tend to get bloody and gruesome pretty frequently.
Simon's new show "Treme" (named after the New Orleans neighborhood where most of the action takes place) debuted on HBO with an 80-minute premiere on Sunday night (April 11), and its dedication to those inviting hues is no different. It's about a post-Katrina New Orleans (a title card at the top of the show reads "Three Months After"), and there are full five minute blocks of footage that show characters wading through wrecked houses and their own belongings, now unrecognizable by all the flood damage. But the there's something about it all that makes you want to be there regardless,...
