Gregory Marquette, Canadian born, living and working in Hollywood,
comes from a background that includes network television in Canada,
Britain and the United States. Having worked for CTV (Canadian
Television Network), BBC London, CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Network)
and the Global Television Network as a Producer, Writer and Television
Director.
A graduate of the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT), he began his career in television journalism and thereafter series drama and television variety. He later formed the successful film production company Polaris Entertainment Corporation to produce television commercials, film and television product, which he ran for eight years.
He has produced, directed and/or and written for television and motion pictures, documentaries and also directed hundreds of national television commercials. As a television commercial Director & Director Of Photography his clients included: Shell Oil, Seagram's, General Motors, General Foods, Canadian Airlines, Dodge, Boeing, McDonald's, AXA/Equitable Insurance, Swiss Telecom, Mobil Oil and dozens of international advertising agencies including BBDO, Grey Advertising, McCann Erickson, DDB Needham, Young and Rubicam and Lord Dentsu.
In Hollywood Mr. Marquette works primarily as a screenwriter and/or director-screenwriter. He has written commissioned screenplays for production companies, producers and directors.
Prior to writing full time, he wrote and directed Innocents (2002), starring Connie Nielsen, Anne Archer, Frank Langella, Mia Kirshner, Robert Culp and Jean-Hugues Anglade, Keith David. He directed documentary pieces about Vietnam which featured Oliver Stone and Ed Harris and shot the science fiction genre motion picture Monarch of the Moon for Darkhorse Entertainment and Millenium Films plus additional effects photography for the motion picture Goose on the Loose, starring Chevy Chase and James Purefoy. He was director of photography (2nd unit) and director plus director of photography for the aerial unit of BOBBY Z starring Paul Walker and Larry Fishburne. He was under contract with Boss Films where he shot the Disney/Lucasfilm venue/theme park film of Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. He is currently prepping his motion picture BODY AND SOUL, the life story of jazz singer Billie Holiday, to direct this fall. And his screenplay Oba the Last Samurai is currently in pre-production is Japan.
Awards include Clios, Juno Awards, Bessies, Mobius, Bachy Award, International Marketing Awards, the Bronze Plaque, Can-Pro Awards for Journalism, and Film Festival Awards: Best Of Show(s), plus The Christopher Columbus Award: Best Film.
