The Notorious B.I.G.’s estate has closed on a deal to sell a stake in the legendary rapper’s catalog to Primary Wave, the company confirmed on Thursday.

The deal comes weeks after The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news on the deal’s development.. Primary Wave didn’t disclose the financial details of the deal. Sources previously told THR that Biggie’s publishing rights were up for about $100 million, while the master rights were on the table for another 30 to 50 million. Sources said the deal gives Primary Wave 50 percent to both rights, as well as his name and likeness.

The Makings of Curtis Mayfield is a bit of a misleading title for the oblique documentary directed by the Grammy- and Oscar-winning musician H.E.R. The name, a riff on Mayfield’s honeyed 1970 ballad “The Makings of You,” implies an intimacy with the subject and promises a detailed, if not necessarily comprehensive, introduction to the radical artist.

But H.E.R.’s film, which premiered at SXSW, doesn’t really offer any of that. The musician finds her own way to capture Mayfield, one that relies heavily on conversations with filmmakers, producers and fellow musicians. The path occasionally yields a fascinating insight — like when Jimmy Jam talks about how Mayfield was one of the first Black artists to own their master recordings — but more often it can feel a little too meandering and disjointed. The documentary is directed by Kevin Macdonald and produced by Peter Worsley. Sam Rice-Edwards would co-direct and edit the feature. Both are attached to star and executive produce and Bateman is set to direct. The drama hails from Bateman and Michael Costigan’s Aggregate Films, Law and Ben Jackson’s Riff Raff Entertainment, Zach Baylin and Kate Susman’s Youngblood Pictures and Automatik Entertainment.

Dark Horse Records has released a new compilation of Joe Strummer‘s solo material, titled Assembly. The collection from the late Clash frontman also includes live renditions of the band’s “Rudie Can’t Fail” and “I Fought the Law,” recorded by Strummer and the Mescaleros at London’s Brixton Academy on November 24th, 2001. “I Fought the Law” received its own music video, created by Spencer Ramsey, on Friday.

Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day Writer/Director, Troy Duffy, will host a bevy of the movies' fans, friends, cast and crew, on Thursday, October 13, 2011, 7:00 Pm - 10:00 Pm, as he celebrates the reveal of his brand new, "La Speed Shop" custom-built Boondock Saints-themed motorcycle. The event, officially named "Boondock Saints Bike Reveal Benefitting Los Angeles Regional Foodbank/Feeding America", will be housed in Mat Joseph's Melrose Avenue art venue "Tuff Sissy & Co." and his neighboring "Freak Chic Tattoo, and will benefit said local charity: www.lafoodbank.org.

Fans of Boondock Saints franchise have been following La Speed Shop's progress on-line, as owner Chris Richardson and his crew constructed Mr. Troy Duffy's bike. This event will serve as the official reveal of the completed machine, as well as a fan meet and greet for a portion of the movie franchise's more than 4.5 million fans.

There has been no official word on a sequel to The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. But now it seems a TV series may be crafted instead of a third movie.

Troy Duffy, who wrote and directed both Boondock Saints and The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, has revealed that there is interest in turning the franchise into a weekly Boondock Saints show.

Here's what the writer-director had to say below, indicating that franchise stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus would return as the McManus brothers for this small screen project.

"We've been approached to do a possible Boondock Saints TV series. So the fans may be getting a part 3 as a television show. We might be able to pull that off....I actually called both Sean and Norman and they both said 'Hell yeah, we'll drop everything.'

Like its predecessor, The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is a rocking, firework popping action extravaganza that doesn’t add anything deep to the series but what it does is bring us the continuation of a cult classic that after 10 years hasn’t missed a beat.

It would be a disservice to harp on Troy Duffy’s issues getting this film made and the hoops it probably took for him to finally get it off the ground, but like its creator this film is messy, vulgar, violent and completely senseless but in way that’s lovable just like the its cult classic predecessor.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day will expand to more theaters across the nation after the sequel to the 1999 cult hit performed well in limited release. Film distributor Apparition will open the movie in more cities including San Francisco, Dallas, San Diego, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta and Houston on November 13th.

Boondock Saints II nabbed $500,000 last weekend in Los Angeles in New York. Using a tactic most recently used by Paramount’s Paranormal Activity, producers set up a web page asking fans to “demand” that the film be shown in their area.

I have to be honest, before I saw the trailer to The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day , I’d never heard of it! I don’t know if this says a lot about me or that the marketing for the first one didn’t do so well! It was made back in 1999 so I was obviously too busy at school or something! For the hundreds of you out there that have heard of it, and love it, this is a special treat for you. If you went to college in the last 8 years, chances are you've seen The Boondock Saints. In fact, chances are you or a friend of yours went through a phase where you lauded it as the "most awesome movie ever". Maybe you've since come down from that Troy Duffy-lovin' cloud - maybe not. Personally, there was a time when I loved Boondock Saints for what is was: a trashy Saturday afternoon action flick that acted as an odd tribute to action flicks everywhere.

When you first see Boondock Saints, don't worry if you're initially blinded by this inexplicable love for the comedy or characters. Relish it. Truly enjoy it while it lasts because Boondock Saints doesn't get better with each viewing, it has the unfortunate tendency to get a little bit worse each time.
