Producers of “The Garcias” have re-acquired the rights to the family comedy series from HBO Max and are shopping the show to other buyers.
HBO Max canceled the series after Season 1 aired last year. New Cadence Prods. has reclaimed the streaming and international rights to the 10 episodes and is seeking a new home for the show that revolves around a large, multicultural and multigenerational Latino family.
HBO Max still had nine years left on its license for Season 1 of “The Garcias” after dropping the series. New Cadence, headed by “The Garcias” co-creator/showrunner Jeff Valdez and investor Sol Trujillo, struck a deal with HBO Max that gives them the ability to produce new episodes of the series and sell the existing episodes to a rival outlet. New Cadence’s deal with HBO Max already was structured so as to ensure that the company retained long-term ownership of “The Garcias” outright.

Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the Season 4 finale of FX’s Mayans M.C.
If there was any question left as to Coco’s (Richard Cabral) fate on FX’s Mayans M.C., the Season 4 finale confirms the beloved character’s death as he is finally laid to rest. His life, like that of others running in similar circles, was cut short due to an act of violence that could’ve easily been avoided.
But there’s no point lamenting how things could’ve been. Instead, Johnny “El Coco” Cruz was given a hero’s farewell worthy of a Marine who sacrificed for his country. In a particularly emotional scene, Coco’s best friend and brother-in-arms Gilly (Vincent “Rocco” Vargas) presented Coco’s daughter with the American flag that draped his casket.
It’s worth noting Vargas is a real-life combat veteran who served his country proudly as part of the Army.

Spoiler Alert: The following story reveals major plot points from tonight’s episode of FX’s Mayans M.C.
Before FX’s Mayans M.C. kicked off its fourth season in mid-April, co-creator Elgin James teased war was looming in Santo Padro, and with war comes death.
But before all that, there was a shocking revelation early in the episode—Adelita (Carla Baratta) and Angel’s (Clayton Cardenas) baby boy is alive. Sneaky Agent Linares (Efrat Dor) had been raising him as her own alongside her husband, both of who are now dead after Adelita killed them in cold blood and took her son back.
Speaking of devoted moms, Emily (Sarah Bolger) is now in Ohio and trying to stay low-key to avoid detection. She was paranoid for good reason, there are investigators tailing her and they know an awful lot about her past.
If they can find her so easily, are she and her son safe?...

The Garcias are all grown up in the HBO Max reboot of the landmark Nickelodeon series The Brothers Garcia. For Jeff Valdez, executive producer and showrunner, the project is this against-all-odds labor of love. Over a decade-plus, he worked through network meetings, a raging pandemic, and Mother Nature to see his vision realized. That vision picks up more than 20 years after the landmark original series first hit the airwaves. The cast all return, including parents Ray (Carlos Lacámara) and Sonia (Ada Maris) with their kids George (Bobby Gonzalez), Carlos (Jeffrey Licon), and Lorena (Vaneza Pitynsk). They are sharing a big beach house with their respective spouses and children for the summer in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and they’ll see their share of guests over the course of the season. Even youngest sibling Larry (Alvin Alvarez) is back, checking in from space — the character is living his dream as an astronaut.

Reviving a classic TV series is never an easy feat - just take it from "The Garcias" showrunner Jeff Valdez. The executive producer and cocreator of Nickelodeon's "The Brothers Garcia" - a family sitcom that follows the three Garcia brothers growing up in San Antonio - spent a decade getting the rights back to his show and developing its reboot for HBO Max. With a fresh take on the hit 2000s series, Valdez is immensely proud of the story he's been able to re-create.

HBO Max is reviving another classic series for its latest reboot project. "The Brothers Garcia," the hit Latinx sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon in the early 2000s, is being reimagined as a new series called "The Garcias."
The reboot aims to bolster US Latinx representation to create a "sense of normalcy" and dismantle stereotypes. "The Brothers Garcia" was considered groundbreaking for being the first English-language sitcom to have an all-Latinx cast and creative team. This time, 81 percent of the cast of "The Garcias" is Latinx, while the other 19 percent are Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (Apia).
"The Brothers Garcia" ran for four seasons from 2000 to 2004. Some of the original members of the Garcia family will reunite in the forthcoming reboot. The series, which has been ten years in the making, will make its way to HBO Max on April 14. Jeff Valdez - who co-created...

Ada Maris has been a working actor in TV and film since the mid-1980s.
Over her long career, which includes co-starring in the NBC drama “Nurses,” 1986’s “About Last Night” and most recently FX’s “Mayans M.C.” and HBO Max’s “The Garcias,” the Mexican American actor has been dismayed by the stereotypical and often racist portrayals of Latinos that persist in TV and film.
Lately, however, as the streaming explosion has pushed the boundaries for premium content outlets, Maris has been encouraged by the rising number of TV shows with nuanced characters and authentic portrayals of Latino communities. But in late September, she was shocked to come across the small role of a housekeeper in the first episode of the upcoming Netflix comedy series “Uncoupled” that she found to be well over the line into offensive.

Spoiler Alert: This article contains details about the season 2 finale of Mayans M.C.
In the season two finale of Mayans M.C., fans were treated to some gasp-worthy — yet semi-satisfying — answers to questions that were presented throughout the season, but at the same time, more were introduced to make us furrow our brow and ask, “What the hell is going on now?” Even so, this is the kind of world that co-creator Kurt Sutter established with Mayans M.C.‘s parent show Sons of Anarchy so it is expected that there would be a lot of poetic parallels between the two — specifically with the protagonists Ez Reyes and Jax Teller.
Written by Sutter and directed by Elgin James, the season two finale is titled “Hunahpu” which is one of two Maya Hero Twins in mythology. The other twin, “Xbalanqu” is the title of the first episode of the season,...

Kurt Sutter has reasons for holding off on revisiting the “Sons of Anarchy” franchise for almost 4 years. And no, it wasn’t just because he wanted to make time for his next FX series, which didn’t fair so well.
“Yeah, I planned on ‘The Bastard Executioner’ bombing and only lasting a season,” the FX series’ creator joked during the Television Critics Association press tour Friday, when asked if he planned out the timeline between the end of the Charlie Hunnam-led drama and the debut of its upcoming spinoff “Mayans M.C.” “All part of my big plan.”
“No, no,” he continued. “You know, at Season 5, 6 or 7 [of ‘Sons of Anarchy’] we knew we wanted to continue the IP. We knew this was an idea we liked. Both [FX CEO] John Landgraf and myself knew that we didn’t want to do it on the heels of ‘Sons’ and sort of cannibalize the IP.

Just days before Kurt Sutter and the cast and creatives of Mayans M.C. take the stage at Comic-Con, the FX biker series hit the road hard with a new trailer this morning. Full of loyalty, guns, a new prospect in the Jd Pardo-played Ezekiel “Ez” Reyes, trust issues, some Edward James Olmos and a Spanish version of the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” the Sons of Anarchy sequel of sorts declares that once you are in, there is no out.
The next chapter is set in a post-Jax Teller world, with Ezekiel “Ez” Reyes (Pardo) fresh out of prison and a prospect in the Mayans M.C. charter on the Cali/Mexi border. Now, Ez must carve out his new identity in a town where he was once the golden boy with the American Dream in his grasp.
The series also stars Clayton Cardenas, Edward James Olmos, Sarah Bolger,...

We know FX Network is the master of the tease.
How many teases do we see before getting a hint of what the actual production of any season of American Horror Story will actually entail?
Probably bordering on too many.
We know relatively little about Mayans Mc so far, and we're getting a lot of teasers for the upcoming continuation of the Sons of Anarchy tale from the side of the Mayans.
Here's what we do know.
The ten-episode series has received good press from FX president Nick Grad.
"Kurt Sutter is a master storyteller, and Mayans Mc has the raw energy and intensity that are hallmarks of his signature style,” Grad in a statement.
“Thanks to Kurt, co-creator Elgin James, and this amazing cast, Mayans Mc builds on the legacy of Sons of Anarchy, taking it in a thrilling new direction that we can’t wait for the world to see.

FX has unveiled the debut date for Kurt Sutter’s “Mayans M.C.” The cable channel has also set the returns for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “American Horror Story.”
Comedy “Mr Inbetween” does not yet have a specific date, but it will start in September, FX said. So will all these other ones.
In “Mr Inbetween,” Scott Ryan plays “Ray Shoesmith,” a father, ex-husband, boyfriend and best friend: tough roles to juggle in the modern age. It’s even harder when you’re a criminal for hire, per FX’s teaser description.
The six-episode season, written by Ryan and directed by Nash Edgerton, also stars Damon Herriman, Justin Rosniak, Brooke Satchwell, Jackson Tozer, Nicholas Cassim, Chika Yasumura and Matt Nable. “Mr Inbetween” was shot in Australia and is produced by Blue-Tongue Films and Jungle Entertainment, in association with FX Productions, Screen Australia and Create Nsw. Exclusive: Diana Maria Riva and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols are set to co-star opposite Rob Schneider and Cheech Marin in the Schneider's untitled CBS comedy, which is shooting a new pilot for midseason consideration as part of a recent order that also includes several backup scripts. The multi-camera comedy, which Schneider co-wrote with Lew Morton based on the actor's real-life experience, stars Schneider as Rob, a confirmed bachelor who has just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family. Bassols will play his wife Maggie and Riva his mother-in-law Rosa, roles played in the original pilot by Nadine Velazquez and Ada Maris, respectively. Riva's age (she is younger than Schneider, who plays her son-in-law, and way younger than Marin, who plays her husband) suggests a possible trophy wife scenario. This completes the recasting of the CBS Studios/Tannenbaum Co. project, with new cast members Marin, Riva and Bassols joining pilot regulars Schneider,...

If ever a TV series celebrated the joys and challenges of life in New York City, it's ABC's Ugly Betty. Not since Adam West and Burt Ward battled Day-Glo baddies as Batman and Robin in a 1960s comic-book version of Gotham has the city been depicted on the small screen with such brightly stylized "Kapow!" Based on a Colombian telenovela, Ugly Betty stars America Ferrera as Queens-born Betty Suarez, who takes on the turbo-powered world of high fashion in her job at Mode magazine, a Manhattan-based publication headed by a womanizing editor, Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius), and a conniving creative director, Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams). The pilot was shot in New York in 2006, but the first two seasons were filmed in Los Angeles. Then the Empire State notched up its incentives for film and TV production, and network series began cropping up all over town. Suddenly it was cost-effective to...
