Producers of “The Garcias” have re-acquired the rights to the family comedy series from HBO Max and are shopping the show to other buyers.

HBO Max canceled the series after Season 1 aired last year. New Cadence Prods. has reclaimed the streaming and international rights to the 10 episodes and is seeking a new home for the show that revolves around a large, multicultural and multigenerational Latino family.

HBO Max still had nine years left on its license for Season 1 of “The Garcias” after dropping the series. New Cadence, headed by “The Garcias” co-creator/showrunner Jeff Valdez and investor Sol Trujillo, struck a deal with HBO Max that gives them the ability to produce new episodes of the series and sell the existing episodes to a rival outlet. New Cadence’s deal with HBO Max already was structured so as to ensure that the company retained long-term ownership of “The Garcias” outright.

If there was any question left as to Coco’s (Richard Cabral) fate on FX’s Mayans M.C., the Season 4 finale confirms the beloved character’s death as he is finally laid to rest. His life, like that of others running in similar circles, was cut short due to an act of violence that could’ve easily been avoided.

But there’s no point lamenting how things could’ve been. Instead, Johnny “El Coco” Cruz was given a hero’s farewell worthy of a Marine who sacrificed for his country. HBO Max is reviving another classic series for its latest reboot project. "The Brothers Garcia," the hit Latinx sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon in the early 2000s, is being reimagined as a new series called "The Garcias."

The reboot aims to bolster US Latinx representation to create a "sense of normalcy" and dismantle stereotypes. "The Brothers Garcia" was considered groundbreaking for being the first English-language sitcom to have an all-Latinx cast and creative team. This time, 81 percent of the cast of "The Garcias" is Latinx, while the other 19 percent are Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (Apia).

“Black Bird,” a limited series starring Taron Egerton and Paul Walter Hauser, will premiere on Apple TV Plus this July 8, the streamer announced Thursday.

Based on James Keene and Hillel Levin’s true crime memoir “In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption,” “Black Bird” stars Egerton as Keene, a police officer’s son who is sentenced to 10 years in a minimum security prison for drug dealing. While serving his sentence, he is offered a chance for early parole, on the condition that he move to a prison for the criminally insane and befriend serial killer Larry Hall (Hauser). Keene reluctantly agrees to the unusual case, and develops a complicated relationship with Hall as he attempts to discover the truth behind the murders the convict is suspected of committing. In addition to Egerton and Hauser, the series also stars Sepideh Moafi, Greg Kinnear and Ray Liotta.

Ada Maris has been a working actor in TV and film since the mid-1980s.

Over her long career, which includes co-starring in the NBC drama “Nurses,” 1986’s “About Last Night” and most recently FX’s “Mayans M.C.” and HBO Max’s “The Garcias,” the Mexican American actor has been dismayed by the stereotypical and often racist portrayals of Latinos that persist in TV and film.

The revival, which is set to begin production in June, will find the eponymous Mexican American family embark on a three-month summer vacation at a luxury beach resort. Mayans M.C., the hit biker drama created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, has been renewed for a second season on FX, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. The second season will premiere on FX in 2019.

“Mayans M.C. is performing fantastically, proving to be a breakout first season,” said Grad. “The series premiered as the highest rated cable series this year and continues to sustain a committed fan base, reflecting the talent and drive of creators Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. We couldn’t be more excited to take this ride to a second season.”

“The Mayans M.C. mythology sprung from the womb of Sons of Anarchy, but anyone who has taken the time to watch, knows it has become its own mythical creature,” said Sutter.

Mayans M.C., the new outlaw biker drama from FX, premiered to the best ratings of any new cable series this year in every major demographic.

On a Live+3 basis, the premiere telecast of Mayans M.C. delivered 2.8 million Adults 25-54, 2.5 million Adults 18-49, and 1 million Adults 18-34, making it the most-watched cable series premiere of 2018 in those key demos. The telecast was also was cable’s highest-rated drama series premiere in Adults 18-49 since January 2016.

In all, the Mayans M.C. premiere generated 6.8 million Total Viewers for its premiere telecast, three encores and digital streaming through Sunday, September 9. This figure does not yet include VOD viewing and will also continue to increase with additional delayed-viewing.

The premiere of Mayans M.C. exceeded the premiere of Sons of Anarchy by +46% in Adults 18-49 (2.5 million vs. 1.7 million) and +64% in Total Viewers (4.6 million vs. 2.8 million).

It delivered 2.8 million adults 25-54, 2.5 million adults 18-49, and 1 million adults 18-34 in Live+3, making it the most-watched cable series premiere of 2018 in the key demos. Kurt Sutter has reasons for holding off on revisiting the “Sons of Anarchy” franchise for almost 4 years. And no, it wasn’t just because he wanted to make time for his next FX series, which didn’t fair so well.

“Yeah, I planned on ‘The Bastard Executioner’ bombing and only lasting a season,” the FX series’ creator joked during the Television Critics Association press tour Friday, when asked if he planned out the timeline between the end of the Charlie Hunnam-led drama and the debut of its upcoming spinoff “Mayans M.C.” “All part of my big plan.”

“No, no,” he continued. “You know, at Season 5, 6 or 7 [of ‘Sons of Anarchy’] we knew we wanted to continue the IP. We knew this was an idea we liked. Both [FX CEO] John Landgraf and myself knew that we didn’t want to do it on the heels of ‘Sons’ and sort of cannibalize the IP.

Probably bordering on too many.

We know relatively little about Mayans Mc so far, and we're getting a lot of teasers for the upcoming continuation of the Sons of Anarchy tale from the side of the Mayans.

FX has unveiled the debut date for Kurt Sutter’s “Mayans M.C.” The cable channel has also set the returns for “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “American Horror Story.”

Comedy “Mr Inbetween” does not yet have a specific date, but it will start in September, FX said. So will all these other ones.

In “Mr Inbetween,” Scott Ryan plays “Ray Shoesmith,” a father, ex-husband, boyfriend and best friend: tough roles to juggle in the modern age. It’s even harder when you’re a criminal for hire, per FX’s teaser description.

Exclusive: Diana Maria Riva and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols are set to co-star opposite Rob Schneider and Cheech Marin in the Schneider's untitled CBS comedy, which is shooting a new pilot for midseason consideration as part of a recent order that also includes several backup scripts. The multi-camera comedy, which Schneider co-wrote with Lew Morton based on the actor's real-life experience, stars Schneider as Rob, a confirmed bachelor who has just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family. Bassols will play his wife Maggie and Riva his mother-in-law Rosa, roles played in the original pilot by Nadine Velazquez and Ada Maris, respectively. Riva's age (she is younger than Schneider, who plays her son-in-law, and way younger than Marin, who plays her husband) suggests a possible trophy wife scenario.
