On the first day of Creepmas, my true love gave to me…12 Killer Santa horror movies to herald in Bloody Disgusting’s 12 Days of Creepmas. This year, we’re reinterpreting the “Twelve Days of Christmas” to bring twelve days of holiday horror. ‘Tis the season to be naughty, after all.

The niche subgenre of Killer Santa holiday horror movies is as robust as ever, offering ample murderous maniacs to spread holiday fear this season. Here are 12 of the most prominent and bloodthirsty of the bunch.
If your favorites are missing, don’t worry; there’s still plenty of holiday horror fun on the way.

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Alongside exclusives like Secret Santa and Night of the Missing and such classics as Black Christmas and Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, here are five Christmas horror recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Christmas Evil
Not to be confused with the innumerable Santa slashers, Christmas Evil (also known as You Better Watch Out) is tonally more in line with Taxi Driver than Silent Night, Deadly Night. Writer-director Lewis Jackson clearly had no interest in making a body count flick; instead, he explores the psyche of a mentally unstable man who happens to dress up as Santa and kill people. The low-budget grit adds to the dark atmosphere.

Pressman Film is a production company that was founded by Ed Pressman, a prolific producer of over 90 films, including the likes of Wall Street, American Psycho, and The Crow. Sadly, Pressman passed away earlier this year at the age of 79. Now his son Sam Pressman is the CEO of Pressman Film, which recently rebooted The Crow – and landed an eight-figure domestic distribution deal for the film with Lionsgate. Moving forward, the company is working with Antoine Fuqua on a project called The Street, which was written by Goodfellas‘ Nicholas Pileggi, and planning an adaptation of the 1975 Edward Abbey novel The Monkey Wrench Gang, which will be directed by Catfish‘s Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman. They’re also trying to figure out how they can exploit titles in the Pressman Film library… and in a recent article, Deadline mentions that endeavor might involve remakes of the 1980 holiday horror film Christmas Evil...

The late Edward R. Pressman’s company Pressman Film is one of the producers of the upcoming reboot of The Crow that Lionsgate just acquired, and it’s not the only property Pressman Film is looking to reboot in the coming years.
Speaking with Deadline this week, Sam Pressman – the son of the late Edward Pressman, and the current CEO of Pressman Film – teased that additional IP is actively being explored.
Deadline notes, “Sam Pressman is readying to steer the company into a new chapter that will honor his father’s legacy in the indie sphere whilst also exploring savvy ways to exploit the company’s rich IP library and embrace the possibilities that new technology, such as AI, can bring the indie world.”
Deadline’s report continues, “The company is also diving into how it will exploit its rich IP library, looking at properties like Ferrara’s Good Lieutenant,...

Written and directed by Lewis Jackson, Christmas Evil has the following synopsis:
As a boy, he saw mommy making love to Santa Claus. As an adult, he is a crazed killer who has kept a list of all the girls who have been good, and a list of all the girls who have been bad. Listening to the lyrics of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," it's easy to read a menacing tone from its warnings. Saint Nick sees you when you're sleeping. He even knows your sins. So you better watch out ... or else.
The idea of a less jolly Santa is a wellspring of humor and broken spines in Tommy Wirkola's "Violent Night," which sees David Harbour's Santa Claus doling out "season's beatings" in defense of a child on his coveted "good" list. As "Violent Night" steers its sleigh into theaters this week, moviegoers are treated to the sight of a hammer-swinging, street-fighting Father Christmas, bedecked in Celtic tattoos and crushing the heads and hearts of numerous henchmen commanded by John Leguizamo's holiday-hating mercenary Jimmy "Scrooge" Martinez. Pat Casey and Josh Miller's script ensures that nearly every holiday element finds its gruesome employment at the hands of Santa or Scrooge: tinsel becomes a garrote,...

’Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the land
Mommy and Santa, were getting on grand.
This threw little Harry, into such a tizzy
He grew up demented; delusional, dizzy.
He spied on the children, through windows he peered
To check if they’re nice, or if they be jeered.
He kept a big book, with names he did fill
Those who did or did not, follow St. Nick’s will.
His job at the toy plant, was covered in scorn
Co-workers would trick him, to work until morn.
He tried to be nice, and swallow his hate
But when they pushed Harry, ’twas too little, too late.
In full Santa gear, he took to the road
With presents for children, he had a full load.
His nondescript van, could give some folks...

For some folks, that’s enough to make you want to grab an axe. But don’t do that. Nah, this is about the 20 grossest, nastiest, and all around most fun Christmas horror movies. The kind where the greatest gift you’re going to get on Christmas morning is escaping with your life and maybe some psychological triggers whenever you see jolly men in red suits.

Hello, dear readers! We’re nearing the end of our Class of 1980 celebration (be sure to check back here next week for something very special that I’ve been cooking up with the help of some very special friends), but before we give the genre films of 1980 the grand send-off they so rightly deserve, I thought we should take a moment to tip our hats to five more films from this notable year in horror and sci-fi that all deserve to get some love as well.
Cheers!

When little Harry sees his Dad in a Santa Claus outfit, groping his mother one Christmas Eve, life changes for the quiet little boy. Thirty odd years later, now all grown up and disgruntled by his dead end job in a depressing toy factory – he’s making a list, checking it twice and descending into a self-created Christmas nightmare where he is Father Christmas and his judgement is final! Dressed as St. Nick, Harry is going to show his bullying co-workers and all the other naughty people what the true spirit of the season is.
Lensed in 1980 and described by cult director John Waters as “greatest Christmas movie ever made,” Christmas Evil is one of only a [growing] handful of Yuletide-set shockers to ever grace movie screens.

When we think about maniacal Santa Clauses in horror, we often go straight to the axe-wielding Billy from Silent Night, Deadly Night, or the homicidal madman who stalked Joan Collins in the Tales From the Crypt movie segment “…And All Through the House” (or its TV episode remake from 1989). For what it’s worth, all these classics have been unseated in my personal Psycho Santa Hall of Fame after a viewing of Christmas Evil, a story that’s more about the psychological unraveling of a factory worker than it is about a body count. In fact, it has far more in common with Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver than any other Christmas horror story around.

Donald Trump vs. Starbucks' War on Christmas. The War on Christmas: The movies that come to mind We're still in November, but the War on Christmas – according to online buzz, a second cousin once removed of the War on Cops – has begun. Weeping and gritting of teeth has seized certain population segments in the U.S.A. (and perhaps other countries as well) after Fox News, that beacon of intellectual freedom at the end of the cable news tunnel, announced that … Starbucks' holiday season cups are a) red b) devoid of Christmas decorations. Could it be a satanic conspiracy disguised as politically correct inclusiveness? The result of a communist takeover at the Seattle-headquartered company? Cruel and unusual Christian persecution in the form of paper cups? Your guess is as good as mine. Far-right Republican icon, U.S. presidential candidate, and 2015 political circus ringmaster Donald Trump seems to think that Starbucks...

I was completely gob-smacked by this one, folks. From the title and description of this 1980 release, I was expecting a smarmy slasher film that used the holiday season for a cheap backdrop and even cheaper jokes. What I got instead was a very well-made character study reminiscent of Polanski's Repulsion. Although not as good as that classic, it stands proudly beside it as a fascinating picture of a slow descent into madness and murder. If anything, Harry Standling is a more sympathetic main character as we are shown in a brief prologue the genesis of both his fixation on Christmas and the reason for his awkwardness with people. At an impressionable age the young Harry crept downstairs on Christmas Eve to see Santa sexually gratifying his mother. That this Santa was actually his father didn't register and the traumatized boy never really got over the sight of...

Throughout the month of December, we will be highlighting a film a day that has some tie into the holiday somehow. Some titles will be obvious, others won’t be. Some films will be good and, again, others won’t be. However, we think all titles are worth your time whether to give you chills inside your home or to make you drink more eggnog until you puke laughing.
Harry loves Christmas. And one Christmas Eve he can’t believe it when Santa Claus comes to visit. His brother, Phillip, insists it was their dad dressed up but Harry knows the truth. Unable to sleep he sneaks downstairs to take another look at the tree, but sees something horrific, Santa Claus about to go down Mom’s chimney. Now as an adult (played by Brandon Maggart) Harry is completely obsessed with Christmas and embodying the spirit as much as he can.

This Tuesday, genre fans have a Lot to look forward to, as we have a trifecta of horror classics coming from Scream Factory, as well as the new 4K restoration of the 1920 German classic, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari from Kino Lorber.
As if that’s not enough, Image Entertainment is releasing the Limited Edition Fifth Dimension box set for The Twilight Zone this week, the cult classics Moontrap, Christmas Evil and Trancers are all making their HD debuts and we’ve got a few indie films being released on November 18th too, including Automata, Housebound and Ragnarok.
Spotlight Titles:
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari- 4K Restored (Kino Lorber, Blu-ray & DVD)
In 1920, one brilliant movie jolted the postwar masses and catapulted the movement known as German Expressionism into film history. That movie was The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, a plunge into the mind of insanity that severs all ties with the rational world.

Christmas is a time for feel-good movies. It’s a Wonderful Life, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the usual Hallmark Hall of Fame drivel that hits the airwaves every December. Your latest Fiona Apple concert story: After a Los Angeles audience member started shouting out requests (which is a no-no), Fiona began talking about how sometimes we, as humans, need to get things off our chests. Then she told a story about how Rex Reed, the Observer film critic, once gave her father, actor Brandon Maggart, a bad review. “I’ve wanted to do this for a long time,” she said. “Daddy, this is for you. Rex Reed: You’re a cunt.” For reference, Rex Reed is the guy who said all those cruel and unnecessary things about Melissa McCarthy in his Identity Thief review. So, up to you on who to blame here.

Glee returns tomorrow! And this happens.
Birthday shoutouts go to Mariska Hargitay, who is 49, and Anita Pointer is 65. Here is The Pointer Sisters' most underrated song, which peaked at #11 in September 1985.
Fox has pulled Ben and Kate from the schedule effective immediately and may burn off the remaining episodes at a later time. Why does this sound familiar? In ratings news, The New Normal hit another season low. BBC America has announced that Doctor Who will return on Supernatural Saturday, March 30th.In case you didn't know ... we're too powerful to need judicial protection. Ryan Gosling on the minefield of fame. Anderson: "It's Beyonce's world and we're just living in it."
Via Towleroad comes the must-see video of the day.

Get a different angle on the holiday season, with these six flicks
Santa Claus (1959)
Reading this on mobile? Click here to view
Don't be fooled by the utilitarian title: Santa Claus is less a biopic of the jelly-bellied gift-giver than a warped Christmas fever dream in which he happens to play a supporting role. The film's real star is Lucifer, who – angered by society's unshakeable devotion to Saint Nick – sends forth a horned demon to turn the children of Earth against him. Santa, hard at work in his orbiting space castle (don't ask) is powerless to help as the campy incubus schemes to corrupt virtuous little boys and girls.
Holiday In Handcuffs (2007)

Waitress Trudie takes a decidedly extreme course of action when faced with another Christmas without a boyfriend. Brandishing an antique shotgun, she kidnaps handsome stranger David and whisks him back...

This week we're after clips from films that star Nasty St Nick
Father Christmas is one of the most popular characters in popular culture – at the time of writing he has been portrayed on film more than 800 times (for reference, Jesus racks up just 360). And while depictions have been mostly sympathetic, a few film-makers have felt the need to explore his dark side. Block your chimney, board up your windows and grab a glass of wine as I run through my favourite bad Santas.
A Christmas Story
Ralphie Parker, the film's child protagonist, isn't particularly likeable, so it's easy to sympathise with the Santa in this clip. That said, neither he nor his elves are really delivering customer service at an acceptable level (traumatising kids, and booting one in the forehead, is generally frowned upon).

It is that holiday time of year again, and I am sure most of us indulge in some holiday themed films. Now I usually do watch the lighter films (Home Alone, Christmas Vacation ect), but I also fit in a few Christmas themed horror films.
This year I wanted to watch a few I hadn’t yet seen, but I was unsure of what to grab. I had actually asked on Twitter for people to send me some suggestions and one that stuck with me was Christmas Evil as recommended by Laurence Harvey (from The Human Centipede 2). The title pretty much says it all, right? I knew the film was about a killer Santa, but I had no idea this actually pre-dated the other well known title Silent Night, Deadly Night. The two films share some common elements, but they are rather different films.

Need a scary Christmas movie? You Better Watch Out, better known as Christmas Evil, isn't just another Santa slasher film.
For some of us, nothing says “Merry Christmas” quite like an axe-wielding Santa.
If you’re the type who’s gone looking you’re well aware that there’s an obscene number of Santa slasher pictures on the market, dating back at least to the early ‘70s. But it would be unfair to lump You Better Watch Out (more widely known today as Christmas Evil) together with the likes of Silent Night, Bloody Night.
Writer/director Lewis Jackson’s 1980 film is different. In fact it’s not a slasher film by any stretch. It’s less a blood-soaked parade of slaughtered teenagers than a character study about a man of principle who is pushed past the breaking point. What it is, more specifically, is the Taxi Driver of Christmas movies.

We're just six little days away from the year's biggest holiday season, and to celebrate the coming of Saint Nick (or whomever you believe in), we'll be taking a look at a different yuletide horror flick each day until the 25th ... starting Now! Think of it as a cinema crazed Advent calendar!

Not really the slasher film that people believe it to be mainly due in part to the marketing campaign which changed the title from "You Better Watch Out" to "Christmas Evil". Christmas Evil is really a psychological horror film about the mental state of a man who is scarred from a traumatic experience as a child in relation to Christmas and how that experience has caused his mental deterioration over the years, especially when he feels that everyone has lost the Christmas spirit. He dresses in a Santa suit to hastily punish those that have been naughty, because he in essence believes he is Santa. As a portrait into the mental state of a person,...

This holiday favorite from Have Yourself a Movie Little Christmas takes Santa Claus to some dark places:
On Christmas Eve 1947, young Harry sees Mommy do more than just kiss Santa Claus; he's so shaken by the event that he smashes a Christmas snowglobe, cuts himself with the broken glass and bleeds on the snowy cabin inside. Cut to 33 years later: Grown-up Harry (Brandon Maggart) sleeps in Santa Claus pajamas, covers his wall with St. Nick paraphernalia, creates a fake "Santa" beard with shaving cream, and monitors the neighborhood kids for his "naughty" and "nice" lists.

The value of Alonso Duralde's Have Yourself A Movie Little Christmas is as a Yuletide resource to research (quite possibly) every known Christmas-themed movie on the face of the planet (or, at least, the ones worth watching). Structured in nine thematic chapters--1: Movies for Kids; 2: Movies for Grown-Ups; 3: Comedies; 4: Tearjerkers; 5: Crime & Action Extravaganzas; 6: Holiday Horror; 7: "Scrooge-a-Palooza"; 8: Lumps of Coal in Your Christmas Stocking; and 9: Christmas Classics--the beauty of Duralde's book is its utility: all you need is personal interest or seasonal necessity to easily access its festive bounty.
Myself, I dove right into Holiday Horror, partly because Gremlins (1984) and Black Christmas (1974) were the two entries Duralde brought to San Francisco's Castro Theatre on his national book tour; but, also because this chapter synopsized Christmas Evil (1980), Lewis Jackson's sole directorial effort, which--as Duralde quotes John Waters--is "the best seasonal...

What's truly appealing about Maude Maggart is that what you initially see--and hear--isn't what you eventually get. Not over the course of the hour during which she entertains with a pro's steady hand. Yup, she fools you seven ways to Sunday and plainly gets a kick out of it. She's already started her wily cabaret game with the given name Maude, hasn't she? That's not the name she was handed at birth by her parents, the actors Brandon Maggart and Diane McAfee. It would seem kinda obvious she assumed the lace-fringed "Maude" for more than the alliteration. She wants to suggest the old-fashioned girl the tag implies. Furthermore, in her current "Three Little Words" act at the Algonquin's Oak Room, she underlines the sought-after image by singing the...
