Since getting his big break crafting jokes for Bette Midler in the early 1970s, Emmy-winning comedy writer and personality Bruce Vilanch has found success writing for the small screen and stage. But by his own admission, the scribe behind 25 Academy Award ceremonies and more than his fair share of Miss Universe and USA pageants has also penned some real flops.

In his new book, “It Seemed Like a Bad Idea at the Time: The Worst TV Shows in History and Other Things I Wrote,” Vilanch walks readers through some of the most ill-conceived projects he’s been attached to over the years — from 1978’s “The Star Wars Holiday Special” to the now infamous 1989 Oscars ceremony that opened with Rob Lowe and Snow White pirouetting to “Proud Mary.”

According to one star of the series, a revival of The Brady Bunch came close to happening, only to be squashed before getting to production. Allegedly, this was due in part to Susan Olsen publicly expressing her political opinions.

In the classic sitcom, Olsen played Cindy Brady, the youngest of Carol's (Florence Henderson) three girls. During a recent interview for the "Walk Away Campaign" podcast (per Vanity Fair), Olsen said that CBS Studios had a planned Brady Bunch revival series in the works. The show was said to have followed Cindy and her siblings, now as adults, with Olsen's character portrayed as a libertarian podcaster. However, it's alleged that the network wound up scrapping the project due to Olsen's conservative views, particularly about her support for Donald Trump and criticism of the Covid-19 vaccine.

The blended family from The Brady Bunch were not as popular during their original run on ABC as they are today. The ’70s sitcom became a favorite among children and teenagers, who loved to see the sibling dynamics between the three brothers and three sisters. The Masked Singer season 8 introduced theme nights for the first time. Some of them featured certain celebrities, including Andrew Lloyd Webber and the Muppets. Amber Riley has made TV history with her win on The Masked Singer season eight.

During Wednesday (30 November) night’s finale of the US version of the celebrity singing series, Riley – best known for her recurring role as Mercedes on creator Ryan Murphy’s series Glee – walked away victorious.

Following the top-secret 12-week singing competition, the 36-year-old actor, who had been disguised as a gold shimmery harp, was the last standing contestant to unmask.

Riley’s newest triumph marks her second major win on a TV reality show competition. In 2013, she and her dance partner, Derek Hough, took home the coveted mirrorball trophy of Dancing with the Stars season 17.

Other celebrities, including Gladys Knight and Margaret Cho, have attempted both competitions, however, Riley is the only one to have ever achieved the double feat.

Exclusive: Fox has a lot to be thankful for this week. After three days of delayed viewing, The Masked Singer‘s Thanksgiving episode drew the network’s highest-rated Thursday original telecast in over six years.

The episode, which was the Season 8 semifinals, scored a 2.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, according to Live+3 Day Nielsen data. A Thursday program hasn’t scored that well for Fox since the finale of American Idol in April 2016.

It’s also the highest rating a regular Thursday primetime entertainment telecast has received in L+3 across all of cable and broadcast since the series finale of The Big Bang Theory on CBS in 2019.

It’s worth noting that the episode had a lead in from the Dallas Cowboys win over the New York Giants, which drew an NFL viewing record of its own with a massive 42 million people watching that game.

The Masked Singer season 8 contestants, the Lambs, will make history on finale night. The Lambs impressed the panelists, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger, as they made songs their own with their incredible harmonies. In their debut performance on Muppets Night, they sang a rousing rendition of "Hot N Cold" by Katy Perry. They then dethroned the reigning Queen of The Masked Singer, Kat Graham (Robo Girl) in the Battle Royale, singing a powerful version of "Call Me" by Blondie.

The Masked Singer season 8 will celebrate Thanksgiving with a two-night event. The singing reality show is about to wrap up its final round of competition in order to determine who will go head-to-head with Harp and the Lambs in the semifinals round. The Masked Singer season 8 has had some incredible competitors this season who have made watching the show very exciting.

A recent TV commercial revealed (as confirmed by The Futon Critic) that The Masked Singer will air back-to-back episodes on Wednesday, November 23 and on Thanksgiving night, which is Thursday, November 24. The Wednesday episode will be Fright Night, which is the final round for the third group of the competition. The last two Masked Singer season 8 contestants, Sir Bugaboo and Scarecrow, will compete against Snowstorm, who defeated Bride (Chris Jericho) and Avocado (Adam Corolla) during Comedy Roast Night.

Bride defeated Venus Fly Trap, who was George Foreman, and Gopher, who was George Clinton. Bride performed a rousing rendition of "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon. The Masked Singer producers have said that everything, including the themes and costumes are clues, so fans should pay close attention because anything could help them figure out the contestants' identities.

On The Masked Singer Comedy Roast Night, Bride will compete against Avocado and Snowstorm. Avocado is a glittery green fruit with a brown pit with a smiling face. It wears green pants and red sneakers with the Masked Singer logo on them. On the Masked Singer Instagram page, Avocado's Mask-Ray clue was revealed to be a bag that said Chips.

Whoever wins this last round will join Harp and the Lambs in the semi-finals. Ken Jeong missed The Masked Singer Hall of Fame Night because he had Covid-19, so frequent guest panelist Joel McHale took his place on the panel, alongside Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, and Nicole Scherzinger. They were joined by Leslie Jordan, who made his final Masked Singer appearance. Leslie died on October 24 at the age of 67, when he had a suspected medical emergency, and crashed his car.

The three new Masked Singer season 8 contestants who will be competing on Hall of Fame Night are Venus Fly Trap, Gopher, and Bride. Venus Fly Trap is a giant version of the plant, with a fly inside its open mouth.

This year, “The Masked Singer” semi-finals are gearing up to be the most competitive of all time, as Group A winner Harp and Group B winner Lambs have already earned their spots. They’ll soon be joined by one last competitor: the eventual winner of Group C. This final group will be spread out over three weeks beginning Wednesday, November 9 and it consists of Avocado, Bride, Gopher, Scarecrow, Sir Bug a Boo, Snowstorm and Venus Fly Trap (see high-res photos).

“The Masked Singer” Season 8 is unlike any installment that’s come before, as there are a whopping 22 total costumes set to compete, up from 12-18 in prior seasons. As of this writing, 13 contestants have taken the stage throughout the first five episodes, which means there are nine costumes still to appear in Season 8. However, based on their clue package and their recognizable voices, fans believe that they might be Wilson Phillips.
