If you're a Millennial (especially of the elder variety), it's safe to say that you have some memory of "Family Matters" buried deep down in your psyche. Or perhaps it's not that deep down, and that's okay too. The 1990s-era sitcom was one of the biggest parts of ABC's famous "Tgif" lineup for most of the decade. Like shows such as "Full House" and "Step by Step," "Family Matters" was a lighthearted, low-stakes family sitcom about a big, rowdy family and the misadventures they got into. "Family Matters" was specifically set in Chicago and focused on the Winslow family along with their obnoxious neighbor Steve Urkel. Of course, Urkel very quickly became the biggest part of the show, vastly outshining the Winslow kids and often being paired with harried patriarch Carl.

ABC’s Tgif programming block had viewers hoping for Friday nights to watch their favorite sitcom.
Over the years, many people believed the acronym stood for “Thank God It’s Friday.” However, in a new interview, Jim Janicek, who help create the programming block, clarified that the letters stood for “Thank Goodness It’s Funny.”
“We were talking about things like the ‘Friday Fun Club,'” Janicek said on Pod Meets World about the names they considered before Tgif. “There’s a whole list somewhere I probably could dig up, but I remember that one. You know, ‘It’s Friday Night.’ Lots of little short-isms.”
Janicek recalled that the network’s executives were initially worried that using Tgif would cause problems with a chain of restaurants.
“We did our first animation, which kinda was more childlike, with a little mouse called Friday the Mouse. We were animating that with a guy...

Christopher Reeve's portrayal of Superman will forever remain a benchmark for superhero films. His iconic ability to balance Clark Kent's quiet demeanor with larger-than-life heroism set a new standard for the genre, earning his outings' place among the best Superman movies. Reeve's performances resonate harder decades later, showcasing a deep depth and charisma that has permeated for years and will continue to endure for years to come. It's no surprise every good Superman movie stars Reeve as his forever-lasting legacy in cinema ultimately defined what it means to be a hero.
While he is synonymous with Superman, Reeve's talent extends far beyond the cape. Some of the best Christopher Reeve roles don't even depict him as Superman, although plenty of them do involve him in a cape. This versatility defines the actor's legacy, with Reeve's ability to connect with audiences existing as a testament to his sincerity and depth.

Ghosts season 4 will make up for a frustrating element of season 3. The American version of the British Ghosts series launched in 2021 and has had a successful run on CBS. However, Ghosts season 3 was shortened due to the strikes that truncated most network television in 2023. While the series still packed a significant punch despite its limited 10-episode set, some characters were missing from the hijinks at Woodstone Mansion, and their absence was undoubtedly felt. Ghosts season 4 will attempt to make amends, returning the characters to elicit excitement and chaos.
Ghosts season 4 will also introduce Sam's dad, played by actor Dean Norris, and a ghost named Patience, portrayed by Mary Holland, who has been roaming the Woodstone property's dirt. The new characters will add some fresh elements and bits of lore to the periods and backstories of CBS Ghosts. Still, familiar characters returning is just as exciting as seeing new faces. Ghosts season 4 gets an update from showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who confirm that some former characters are returning. The CBS series follows Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay Arondekar (Utkarsh Ambudkar), a married couple living among the deceased occupants of Woodstone Estate. Along with McIver and Ambudkar, the comedy stars Devan Chandler Long, Rebecca Wisocky, Brandon Scott Jones, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, and more. Beyond its main Ghosts cast, many memorable characters make brief appearances, including visitors of the converted bed and breakfast or spirits attached to other properties.
Speaking with TVLine, Port and Wiseman confirmed that a few notable characters will make their return in Ghosts season 4, which debuts on October 17. While absent from season 3, the showrunners revealed that the Farnsbys and Bjorn will feature this season.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law debuted on the Disney+ streaming service in August of 2022, wrapping up its nine episode run that October. The door was left wide open for further She-Hulk adventures, but earlier this year, star Tatiana Maslany said she didn’t think there would be a second season because they “blew their budget.” But Maslany is an expert at the secrecy game, having spread misinformation about the show before it aired and even flat-out denying that she had been cast when news of her involvement first leaked online, so we can’t take her word on these things. Looking to find out whether or not there will be a She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2, ComicBook.com turned to the show’s executive producer Wendy Jacobson. She couldn’t say for sure, but she did share ideas on how they could approach the material if...

Almost two years after She-Hulk: Attorney at Law aired its first nine-episode season on Disney+, there still hasn't been a definitive announcement about a second season. However, series Wendy Jacobson believes that there's more of Jennifer Walters' story to be told.
"I don't know the answer to that question," Jacobson told ComicBook when asked to confirm if a second season was on the cards. She then explained what the series would cover if more episodes were given the green light. "What I love about She-Hulk is just kind of being in this character's everyday life. It's a woman in her thirties, trying to navigate her life and her career and her friendships, and oh, she just happens to also be able to turn into a Hulk. So, I think I would love to explore more of that."

Jack Nicholson's final film, How Do You Know, was a critical and commercial flop, failing to live up to his storied career. Despite a stacked cast and experienced director, the film suffered from a bloated budget and lackluster script and direction. How Do You Know was one of the biggest box office bombs of all time, losing an estimated $100 to $140 million in total.
Jack Nicholson is widely considered one of the greatest American actors of all time. He's earned that reputation with a stellar filmography that includes The Shining, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Terms of Endearment, Easy Rider, As Good As It Gets, and A Few Good Men, among dozens more (including some he turned down).
The 87-year-old Nicholson's days as an actor are now behind him, as he's been informally retired since 2010. He hasn't completely disappeared from the spotlight, making a memorable appearance at a Los Angeles Lakers game in 2023. However,...

Strange pairings in TV Sitcoms are nothing new. Series like The Honeymooners would have the sort of violent buddy’s of Ralph and Ed, The Flintstones would have Barney and Fred, and of course The Odd Couple would have Oscar and Felix.
But in 1986 a new duo would be added to this list and Friday night TV viewing would never be the same. Cousin Larry and Balki would become a hit power couple for viewers who would fall in love with the quirky pair and their misadventures trying to make it in Chicago.
The series would become a favorite for a number of fans not only in the states but eventually around the world and would spawn a spin off that would become just as big a hit for ABC.

An insider is attributing the failure of Marvel's VFX work on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law to the President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige.
Victoria Alonso, who oversaw the studio’s VFX and animation was fired and primarily blamed for the special effects issues at Marvel. However, according to certain insiders, there are indications that Alonso may have been unfairly made a scapegoat, with the VFX problems in She-Hulk being seen as a symptom of a lack of proper oversight during script development. In a report by Variety, an individual with direct involvement in the debacle pointed the finger at Feige, stating, that the perceived shortcomings in VFX are a result of inadequately developed scripts. The insider claimed that responsibility lies not with Alonso but with Kevin Feige and other top executives. “It had everything to do with it,” admits Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”), about the main reason why she wanted to star in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.” Portraying Jennifer Walters on the show meant she could upend expectations by giving voice to a woman in her 30s awkwardly navigating her career and personal life, who just so happens to also be a superhero in her spare time. “When I read the first script,” she explains, “it was so funny, so human and so irreverent of any expectations of what a superhero is. I found Jennifer just so infinitely relatable.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

HBO’s official trailer for Succession season four is full of plotting, backstabbing, and shifting loyalties. In other words, everything we’ve come to expect – and love – about the award-winning drama.
The trailer kicks off with Logan Roy insisting he’s accomplished so much that no one should question how he’s doing. That’s followed by Greg spying on Logan as he circles the trading floor, describing Logan’s actions to Tom on the phone as terrifyingly moseying. “It’s like if Santa Claus was a hitman,” says Greg.
The trailer also includes Kendall suggesting to his siblings that they need to fight Logan by partnering up with Sandi, Stewy, and Pierce – “death wrestling ogres.”
The final season stars Brian Cox as Logan Roy, Jeremy Strong as Kendall Roy, Sarah Snook as Siobhan Roy, Kieran Culkin as Roman Roy, and Alan Ruck as Connor Roy. Matthew Macfadyen plays Tom Wambsgans,...

Succession is heading to an end.
The hit HBO drama series will come to a conclusion with its fourth season.
Creator Jesse Armstrong broke the news in an interview with The New Yorker.
The series will return for season four on Sunday March 26. The season picks up when patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) betrayed his adult kids including Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin) and Kendall (Jeremy Strong).
He said, “There are a few different aspects. One, we could have said it as soon as I sort of decided, almost when we were writing it, which I think would be weird and perverse. We could have said it at the end of the season. I quite like that idea, creatively, because then the audience is just able to enjoy everything as it comes, without trying to figure things out, or perceiving things in a certain way once they know it’s the final season.

From the moment that Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) publicly transforms into She-Hulk, she has to deal with trolls.
Marvel’s “She-Hulk: Attorney At Law” immediately and irreverently leans in to social media and toxic masculinity, to the obsession with women’s bodies and existence that seems to relentlessly haunt men online.
“When the show first came out, I was getting these really awful, mean, troll messages,” recalls series director Kat Coiro in a post-finale Zoom interview with IndieWire. “Just terrible things, ‘You should die’ and awful words — and as the series has progressed, that has started to go away, because we address the trolls. The trolls are the villains. I think these people realize that when they are doing [that], they’re playing right into our hands.”
“We always knew we were going to come under attack because that’s what happens to women in this world and this ethos,” she added.

How do you follow up a season that featured outstanding guest stars Holly Hunter and Cherry Jones? By bringing in Alexander Skarsgård and Adrien Brody, of course.
HBO announced Wednesday afternoon that the Oscar-winning star of “The Pianist” is joining the Season 3 cast of “Succession.” Per the network, Brody will be playing “Josh Aaronson, a billionaire activist investor who becomes pivotal in the battle for the ownership of Waystar.”
Waystar, of course, is the Roy family’s media conglomerate, which at the end of Season 2 was under siege from outsiders and insiders alike. The official synopsis for the upcoming set of episodes lays out the stakes cleanly:
Ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall (Emmy winner Jeremy Strong) at the end of Season 2, Logan Roy (Brian Cox) begins Season 3 in a perilous position. Scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances, tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.

Mel Brooks served as executive producer on this thoroughly delightful picture released in 1982 and directed by actor/director Richard Benjamin. It feels like a Brooks movie (but perhaps not as zany). In fact, My Favorite Year, which was written by Norman Steinberg and Dennis Palumbo, from Palumbo’s story, is loosely inspired by Brooks’ days as a writer on Sid Caesar’s early television comedy/variety programs, Your Show of Shows and Caesar’s Hour, in the 1950s.
The year is 1954, New York City, and Benjy Stone (Mark Linn-Baker) is a young comedy writer on “Comedy Cavalcade,” which stars the demanding and difficult-to-work-for King Kaiser (Joseph Bologna). The studio is lucky to snare a guest appearance on the show by the once hugely popular but now fading swashbuckling movie star, Alan Swann (Peter O’Toole). Swann is a notorious alcoholic,...

My Favorite Year
Blu ray
Warner Archive
1982/ 1.85:1 / 92 min.
Starring Peter O’Toole, Mark Linn-Baker, Joe Bologna
Directed by Richard Benjamin
Nat King Cole’s shimmering version of Stardust, Rockefeller Plaza surrounded by wide-brimmed hats and two-toned Buicks – the first three minutes of My Favorite Year invoke the past with such ease that Proust might applaud.
Sentimental as they are, the sights and sounds of 1954 foreshadow something more significant in the zeitgeist – the era when television was on the rise and Hollywood’s star system was headed in the opposite direction.
Richard Benjamin’s 1982 comedy opens with the camera gliding by the sleek deco marquee of Radio City Music Hall where Seven Brides for Seven Brothers was the summer showcase – on Broadway the Rivoli was flogging the “right at you” thrills of House of Wax. One film in CinemaScope and four track stereo, the other in 3-D – each designed to lure...

Peter O’Toole in My Favorite Year is available on Blu-ray from Warner Archives
King Kaiser’s Comedy Cavalcade goes on in minutes. But guest star Alan Swann is exiting the building. Fast. “I’m not an actor. I’m a movie star!” he bellows in stark fear. He just found out the show is Live!
Directed by Richard Benjamin and inspired by incidents from comedy legend Mel Brooks’ early career, My Favorite Year is a golden age revisited, a zany, misty-eyed tribute to TV’s early days. Academy Award® winner* Peter O’Toole plays Swann. Once a swashbuckling movie idol whose face was plastered on fan magazines, Swann is now mostly plastered. And it falls to Cavalcade’s rookie writer (Mark Linn-Baker) to keep him on the sober and narrow. Don’t touch that dial.

Exclusive: More than three years ago, Netflix successfully opened a new area of original programming, the family sitcom, with a reboot of Warner Bros TV’s Tgif comedy Full House. The sequel series was a breakout hit, tapping into nostalgia for those who had grown up with the original series while also drawing a new generation of viewers.
That success was probably not lost on WarnerMedia executives as they are prepping the launch of a streaming platform to rival Netflix and have been discussing with Warner Bros TV brass library titles they can exploit for the new service.
I hear the WarnerMedia streamer is eyeing reboots of other Wbtv-produced classic Tgif comedies, like Step by Step, Perfect Strangers, its spinoff Family Matters, as well as Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper. Sources stressed that talks are in exploratory stages, and it’s unclear whether any of the potential revivals would come to fruition,...

Margo Martindale has been a working actor all her adult life, but it wasn’t until she was in her late fifties that she became — as she’s described whenever she plays herself on BoJack Horseman — Esteemed Character Actress Margo Martindale. Her current hot streak began in 2011 when she played backwoods drug lord Mags Bennett in the second season of FX’s Justified. The role won her the first of three Emmys (the other two came from playing Kgb handler Claudia on The Americans) and vaulted her from the ranks...
