Minutes after the Writers Guild of America declared it was on strike, members lit up social media with vows to stay strong as they prepare to hit the picket lines on Tuesday.
News of the strike, which takes effect later this evening, came late Monday after the guild’s negotiations with the AMPTP failed to reach an agreement on a new film and scripted TV contract. It’s the WGA’s first strike since the 100-day walkout of 2007-08.
Reaction on Twitter was swift. “Here we go,” wrote David Simon. “See you all on the pavement, my brothers and sisters.” He followed it with the hashtag #WGAstrong.
Some expressed fear but that was quickly replaced by resolve, as scribes encouraged fellow members to ignore the spin “that’s already coming out.”

Syfy may have finally put an stop to the Sharknado franchise after six movies, but that's not the end of the road for director Anthony C. Ferrante and star Ian Ziering. Set to have its World premiere on Syfy on Saturday, Aug. 17, the pair's next joint venture will be the new movie Zombie Tidal Wave. Exactly as it sounds, the movie takes the Sharknado approach by combining carnivorous creatures with natural disasters, but it's admittedly attention-grabbing. While the goal is to see if this new movie can spawn a new series as successful as Sharknado, that will likely depend on the World premiere's viewership.
Zombie Tidal Wave, as we can see in the trailer from Sdcc, is definitely one of those movies where the title says it all. It follows a sailor whose small seaside community is threatened by an ocean-borne outbreak. In the new official trailer which premiered at San Diego Comic-Con,...

First, there was Sharknado. Now, there is Zombie Tidal Wave. SyFy has announced the upcoming movie which, as the title implies, will be bringing us a literal tidal wave full of zombies. Ian Ziering, who headlined the Sharknado franchise, is set to star and produce the movie. Anthony C. Ferrante, who directed all six movies in the shark-centric B-movie franchise, reunites with Ziering and will helm the undead disaster flick.
According to an announcement from SyFy, Ian Ziering will not only star in the movie, but he's also producing through his own I.Man Productions. Darby Parker is also producing via Stronghold Entertainment. The SyFy original title is set to debut as part of the network's Off The Deep End weekend on Saturday, August 17 at 9 p.m. The weekend will consist of shark-themed programming and will also include all six Sharknado movies in its lineup, as well as other titles such as Sharktopus vs.

Zombie Tidal Wave, a new Syfy original movie starring and produced by Ian Ziering (Sharknado), is set to premiere as part of Syfy’s shark-themed Off The Deep End weekend, Saturday, August 17 at 9 Pm.

So how long can The Asylum and Syfy's "Sharknado" franchise continue? All the way through a seventh film says the screenwriter. Ahead of the premiere of "Sharknado: The 4th Awakens" on July 31st, series screenwriter Thunder Levin tells ScreenRant that he has the stories worked out for three more sequels which will have an arc:
"As to whether we will see other creatures in 'nados in the future, I can't say for sure. Who knows if there will even be any more Sharknado movies? I guess it depends on the ratings. I have actually developed a story arc for Sharknado five through seven - for the next three movies - and I've submitted that to The Asylum and we'll see if they want to run with it or not and we'll see if Syfy wants to do anymore of these. If they do, I'm ready to go and there's no telling what you might see.

In 2013, Syfy released a little movie produced by The Asylum dubbed Sharknado, which didn't appear much different from the animal hybrid movies Syfy and Asylum had released in the past, like Dinoshark and Sharktopus. For whatever reason, Sharknado became a massive hit for the network, spawning a sequel each year, with the new installment Sharknado: The 4th Awakens airing Sunday, July 31 at 8 Pm Et. How long can this franchise continue, though? According to the screenwriter, at least until Sharknado 7.
The first movie was watched by 1.37 million viewers, which is slightly less than the typical Syfy movie, but it had become incredibly popular on social media. This lead to an encore airing the next week, which drew in 1.89 million viewers, and a third screening two weeks later which drew in 2.1 million, the biggest audience ever for an encore Syfy movie airing. 2014's Sharknado 2: The Second One drew in 3.87 million viewers,...

Last month, Syfy released a new trailer for their highly-anticipated sequel Sharknado: The 4th Awakens, which revealed the fate of Tara Reid's character April. The third installment ended on a cliffhanger, allowing fans to vote whether April lives or dies. Fans voted for her return. Today we have a new trailer, which features just some of the numerous cameos, along with a few Star Wars references as well.
The trailer, which debuted on YouTube today, reveals that the action has shifted to Las Vegas, and that this new Sharknado isn't the only thing Vegas residents have to worry about. We also see a number of new tornadoes, such as a "firenado," "oilnado" and a "cownado," which may be a not-so-subtle reference to the infamous cow scene in the 1996 thriller Twister. It is also revealed cities such as San Francisco, Seattle and Salt Lake City coming under attack from these inexplicable storms.

Five years since the last Sharknado attack, the deadly flying sharks are back in “Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens” — and this time they’re invading Sin City. The first official trailer for the SyFy made-for-tv film has just arrived, and it’s even more ridiculous that we expected.
The story picks up five years after the third film when Fin (Ian Ziering) and his family thought they were safe from the man-eating sharks. Everything changes when the killers return with a vengeance, this time in Las Vegas. And one thing that’s for sure, “what happens in Vegas, sure as hell won’t stay there.”

After invading both the West and East Coasts in the first three movies, the Sharknado sensation is heading to the Las Vegas desert in Sharknado: The 4th Awakens. When Syfy debuted “Sharknado,” its ridiculous disaster-movie parody about sharks swept up in a tornado and attacking humans, it became a huge trending topic on social media. Its success led to two sequels, “Sharknado 2: The Second One” in 2014 and “Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!” premiering Wednesday. Screenwriter Thunder Levin penned all three movies, which he freely admits are “silly fun.” But he also says that their social media success is the result of a human desire to connect over shared experiences. “I think there’s this craving for shared communal experiences,” Levin told TheWrap. “And so I think ‘Sharknado’ gave us that.

This is not a drill: Sharknado screenwriter Thunder Levin has some pretty compelling reasons why the Syfy movie trilogy could actually save humanity as we know it – hear him out ....
"Not to get too deep about something called Sharknado," Levin tells People, "[but] our society was sort of built on … shared communal storytelling experiences, whether it was cavemen sitting around the fire telling stories or the plays in the Greek amphitheaters or the commoners coming to hear Shakespeare."
In the 21st century, Levin believes we've stumbled upon the first era without a form of entertainment that the public enjoys collectively. "The...

It’s only fitting that a B-movie franchise geared toward generating social media interest for its endangered clutch of faded stars has kicked up the silliness for its third instalment. Syfy’s uber-successful Sharknado series is currently in production for the third outing that’s now garnered a suitably wacky subtitle. Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! is heading to the small screen this July, and network brass are behind it 100%.
In a statement accompanying the announcement Syfy’s Svp, Chris Regina said:
“We wanted this third title to boldly go where no shark movie has gone before. Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! embraces the larger-than-life irreverence that has made these movies so popular and entertaining.
Where Sharknado destroyed Los Angeles, and Sharknado 2 saw New York City subjected to the perils of a shark-infested weather incident, Sharknado 3 will unleash its wrath on the nation’s capital. Starting out in Washington D.

Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will return to battle more sharks in Syfy’s “Sharknado 3,” the cable channel said on Thursday.
The TV movie, starring Ziering as the appropriately named Fin and Reid as his ex-wife and once-again love interest April, will come out in July.
Anthony C. Ferrante again directs, and Thunder Levin will pen the screenplay once more.
