The precise relationship between The New Batman Adventures (Tnba) and Batman: The Animated Series (Btas) is frequently a point of contention among viewers, who often disagree over its canonical status. At first glance, the two seem linked: both feature DC's Gothams Dark Knight, many of the same villains, and the same production team. However, significant differences in tone, animation style, and narrative focus have led to some questioning whether Tnba should be considered a true continuation of Btas or a completely separate animated Batman series.

"Batman: The Animated Series" kept getting second leases on life. Rebranded as "The Adventures of Batman & Robin," this back 20 has some of the all-time best "Batman" TV episodes: "Trial," "House and Garden," "Harlequinade," "Harley's Holiday," and "Baby Doll." After wrapping for real in 1995, Batman returned to television a mere two years later. "The New Batman Adventures" was a sequel to "The Animated Series," with the same core voice cast and crew. Some fans and official releases even label "Adventures" as just another season of "The Animated Series." The show's styles and settings, though, are different enough to stand apart.

Cillian Murphy recently had some choice words for his film Red Eye (watch it Here), a Wes Craven-directed thriller that was released back in 2005. But he wasn’t entirely negative. So that got me thinking: Is Red Eye a good film? Or is it more in the so bad it’s good category? I personally saw Red Eye in theaters and have always had a soft spot for it. But if Oppenheimer‘s own Cillian Murphy has an issue with it, maybe it’s worth a second gander. So let’s see whether it’s good, bad, or somewhere in between as we revisit Red Eye in the video embedded above!

Kevin Conroy, best known for voicing Batman in many shows over the years, has died.

He was 66.

Diane Pershing, the voice of DC's Poison Ivy, revealed the news.

“Very sad news: our beloved voice of Batman, Kevin Conroy, died yesterday," Pershing shared via Facebook.

2He’s been ill for a while but he really put in a lot of time at the cons, to the joy of all of his fans."

"He will be sorely missed not just by the cast of the series but by his legion of fans all over the world,” Pershing shared on Facebook today.

Pershing went on to speak about Conroy with a series of photos.

The end of an era is upon us. Reports from Kevin Conroy's colleagues in the animation industry indicate that the prolific and unparalleled voice actor, most famous for defining the voice of Batman and Bruce Wayne for an entire generation of fans in multiple mediums and a plethora of different projects, has passed away at the age of 66 -- just weeks shy of his next birthday. News of the acting legend's death first broke on a Facebook post by fellow voice actor Diane Pershing, who voiced Poison Ivy in "Batman: The Animated Series." According to Pershing, Conroy had been sick for some time, though his cause of death is yet unconfirmed. Here's what she had to say in her post, which appeared on her Facebook page early morning on November 11, 2022:

One of the strengths found in Batman: The Animated Series is its compassion for heroes and villains alike. In this series, inspired by the success of Tim Burton’s 1989 feature film, writers and animators alike brought a more adult, more mature approach to the stories, rewriting the rules for children’s animated fare.

In time, this gave them license to explore larger themes through direct-to-video films achieving mostly successes. Overlooked until now, is Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero, released this week by Warner archive for the first time on Blu-ray. Written by Randy Rogel and Boyd Kirkland and directed by Kirkland, they build on the tragedy of Victor Fries.

The origin of Mr. Freeze was presented in “Heart of Ice”, written by Paul Dini and directed by Bruce Timm, explaining the accident that forced him to live in a cold suit and what twisted his mind.

With the recent Dceu movie turning out to be not as good as it could have been, there’s still no beating the Justice League animated series as the finest screen adaptation of DC’s super-team to date. Airing from 2001 to 2006 (if you count the revamped Justice League Unlimited as the same show), the series is still remembered fondly – hence the interest in getting the cast back together for a reunion.

As part of the ongoing social media campaign to get Warner Bros. Animation to put something together, actress Susan Eisenberg – who played Wonder Woman – shared a Tweet to whip up some support from fans. In response, one individual questioned whether Mark Hamill could be involved as well, given that he played the Joker in several episodes of the show, which was a spinoff of the acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series.

This may make you feel old and happy at the same time! It’s been 20 years since Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero was released and to honor the anniversary, Warner Archive Collection is coming out with a remastered Blu-ray version of the award-winning animated film. Below are all the details on the release and some special news for Wondercon 2018 attendees.

Originally released as a direct-to-video film on March 17, 1998, Batman & Mr. Freeze: Sub-Zero will be released on Blu-ray in its original 4×3 Fullframe aspect ratio. The 67-minute film will be accompanied by several special features, including Art of Batman: Music Montage; Get the Picture: How to Draw Batman; the film’s theatrical trailer; and the Batman: The Animated Series/The Bew Batman Adventures/Batman Beyond “Mr. Freeze Saga” in chronological order – four episodes entitled “Heart of Ice,” “Deep Freeze,” “Cold Comfort” and “Meltdown.” The episodes will be presented in standard definition.

As much as Harley Quinn is still having a moment off the back of Suicide Squad, the animated feature Batman and Harley Quinn is mostly a wasted opportunity.

The story includes some great elements that are delivered exceptionally well, but the positives are fighting an uphill battle against fart jokes and other inanities. How the combination came together is anyone’s guess, but it renders the whole a frustrating mix that can’t get out of its own way.

Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (The Floronic Man) have a scheme to save the world from the pollution and general pillaging of humans by mutating everyone into plant hybrids. The theory being that people will then have a more vested interest in keeping the world safe. It isn’t a scheme that makes a lot of sense, but crazy people and druid creatures from other dimensions make their own brand of sense.

Warner Animation’s just-released Batman and Harley Quinn is an interesting project from the standpoint of it being a more mature sequel to the Batman: The Animated Series while still fitting into the now cohesive DC Animated Universe. It has the look and feel of the classic series while the content and themes are vastly different in keeping with Harley’s prominence in all-things DC these days along with upping the stakes in a longer production.

That said, the production is very entertaining and a welcome 30th film in the line of animated projects (the DC Universe: 10th Anniversary Collection is expected in November).

It’s a lot of fun to have Bruce Timm, Harley’s co-creator back in action as a co-scriptwriter. Sam Liu is also back to direct so we have a lot of veteran talent to bring tremendous affection to the project and it shows in every detail.

Warner Bros. Animation goes 90s retro with Batman and Harley Quinn. It is written by Bruce Timm and Jim Krieg, who created the classic Batman: The Animated Series. The characters and style are drawn from the 1992 television show, but it is much more lighthearted. The film is quite campy. It is tonally very different from the recent batch of thematically dark cartoons of the DC Universe. Some scenes are laugh out loud funny, while others are over the top silly. It is a muddled effort that doesn't quite gel. The third act falls apart completely. I appreciate the humor, but there needed to be a more cohesive story.

Well, the highly anticipated Batman and Harley Quinn animated film has finally arrived and, while I shouldn’t be surprised that it’s already stirring up controversy, I am. It seems like nobody can create any sort of art these days without enduring some sort of backlash, but that’s just the world we live in. Before diving into my review, I’ll preface by saying this movie is in no way for kids, but if you’re a prude, you may also want to sit this one out.

I say that because this aesthetic return to The New Batman Adventures feels like an extended episode of that very series, but with much raunchy humor packed in. Aka Dr Harleen Quinzel, Harley Quinn first appeared in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. Originally voice by Days of Our Lives’ Arleen Sorkin, she was created by series writers Bruce Timm and Paul Dini as an object of amusement for the Joker. A squeaking sufferer of “Histrionic Personality Disorder”, she has gone from kooky sidekick to become the star of the New 52’s most original – and most insane – new series.

It’s immediately apparent that Batman and Harley Quinn, the new standalone feature from Warner Bros. Animation, written by Timm and directed by DC veteran Sam Liu, is firmly rooted in the classic TV show. Everything is here, from the minimalist Art Deco styling, to the perennial orange sunset, to that definitive half-Elfman score.

Studios, DC Entertainment and Fathom Events are proud to announce a special, one-night cinema event for the latest DC Universe Original Movie, Batman and Harley Quinn, on August 14, 2017 in movie theaters nationwide.

One night prior to the Digital release and 15 days in advance of its arrival on Blu-ray and DVD, Batman and Harley Quinn will screen Monday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m. local time. In addition to seeing the film, audiences at the one-night screening will be the first to experience an exclusive featurette spotlighting the film's star character, Harley Quinn.

Tickets for Batman and Harley Quinn can be purchased beginning Friday, June 30, 2017 online by visiting www.FathomEvents.com or at participating theater box offices. Fans throughout the U.S. will be able to enjoy the event in select movie theaters through Fathom's Digital Broadcast Network (Dbn). A complete list of theater locations will be available June 30 on the Fathom Events website (theaters and participants are subject to change).

The film boasts a stellar voice cast topped by The Big Bang Theory star Melissa Rauch in her first turn as the irrepressible Harley Quinn. It's been awhile since I've been truly excited about any of the animated films being developed by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation. I really haven't been too impressed with what they've been doing recently, but Batman and Harley Quinn looks like it could be great. I liked what I saw in the first trailer that was released, especially the fact that it was done in the same art style as Batman: The Animated Series. This is also an original story that was developed by Bruce Timm.

Celebrating a decade of DC Universe Original Movie world premieres in San Diego, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (Wbhe) will once again give fans their first look at an all-new animated feature with the presentation of Batman and Harley Quinn on the Friday night (July 21, 2017) of Comic-Con International. Another DC Universe Original Movie is on its way, and this one looks like one that is going to put Batman through the ringer. Batman and Harley Quinn has the Dark Knight and Nightwing teaming up with Harley Quinn of all people.

When Poison Ivy and Jason Woodrue (a.k.a. The Floronic Man) aim to save the planet, largely by getting rid of people, and Batman and Nightwing enlist Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy’s friend, and frequent partner-in-crime. As you might imagine, Harley isn’t exactly cut out for a straight-forward partnership that has her on the right side of things.

With the awesome showings that were Justice League Dark and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract now behind us, our attention turns toward the next major DC animated film of 2017 in Batman and Harley Quinn. Pairing one of the genre’s most lucrative players in the former with one currently boasting white hot popularity in the latter was a wise move on the part of the studio and, judging by last week’s trailer reveal, it looks like they have another hit on their hands.

Usually, more details regarding something distributed by WB Animation swiftly follow a trailer’s release, so, thankfully, history has repeated itself and we now know that this particular offering will be released via Digital HD on August 15, with Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Deluxe Giftset, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD releases following on August 29.

The animated adventure Batman and Harley Quinn is the latest installment of the franchise known as DC Universe Original Movies. It is a direct-to-video release that has the distinct 1990s Dark Deco look of Batman: The Animated Series, and even brings back Kevin Conroy as Batman and Loren Lester as Nightwing from the original series. New to the movie and the DC Universe is The Big Bang Theory's Melissa Rauch, who provides the voice of Harley Quinn.

Warner Bros. Animation has released the first full trailer for their DC animated film Batman and Harley Quinn. The film revolves around Batman (Kevin Conroy) and Nightwing (Loren Lester) who are forced to reluctantly team-up with Harley Quinn (Melissa Rauch) in an attempt to stop a global catastrophe caused by Poison Ivy (Paget Brewster) and Jason Woodrue, Aka the Floronic Man.

As you'll see in the trailer, this film has a lighter and more playful tone and style reminiscent of Batman: The Animated Series. It has a more comedic tone than anything else DC has done recently with their animated films. It actually looks like it could end up being a fun flick!

Without a doubt, Warner Bros. Animation have been on a roll in 2017 when it comes to their direct-to-video line of DC animated films, already having impressed audiences with the R-rated supernatural adventure Justice League Dark and the long overdue Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. As for what lies ahead, well, it looks like they’re about to appeal to our nostalgic side with Batman and Harley Quinn.

I say that because this particular entry doesn’t conform to any one comic book artist’s style, nor does it to Phil Bourassa’s New 52 inspired template. Actually, it aligns perfectly with The New Batman Adventures – or “the revamp episodes,” as they’re often referred to – giving a generous nod to what Bruce Timm established two decades ago. Truth be told, it makes sense to go in this creative direction when you consider that Timm himself is one of the creative minds behind this project.

They've just announced that they're moving forward with their Batman And Harley Quinn film in earnest by tapping director Sam Lie to take charge of the project. He's previously worked on Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, 2016's unfortunate misstep The Killing Joke, and Justice League Vs Teen Titans under their watchful eye, so it looks like it'll be a fairly smooth process all in all.

Whenever a new DC animated movie is released on Blu-ray or DVD, the bonus feature I look forward to seeing most is the sneak peek that offers insight into the next film on the slate. In this case, the home video release for Teen Titans: The Judas Contract brings our first look at Batman and Harley Quinn.

To many, a project like this seems like a no-brainer. After all, Batman is arguably WB’s greatest cash cow and Harley Quinn has been on a meteoric rise in recent years, no doubt having received an even bigger boost by the Suicide Squad feature film and all the merchandise that came along with. Add to that the knowledge that one of her co-creators, Bruce Timm, is one of the minds behind the project, and you have a potential hit on your hands.

It was recently announced that Kevin Conroy (Batman: The Animated Series) and Melissa Rauch (Big Bang Theory) would be voicing the characters Batman and Harley Quinn in DC Animation's upcoming new film Batman and Harley Quinn. They will be joined by Loren Lester (Batman the Animated Series), who is taking on the role of Nightwing and Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds) as Poison Ivy.

Now we have a new 9-minute featurette for the film that gives us a behind-the-scenes look featuring interviews with the cast and crew, including Bruce Timm. It also offers us our first look at some of the footage from the movie and it looks like it could be a fun movie.

The upcoming Dc Universe Animated Film, "Batman & Harley Quinn" has been making news as of late. The new casting of Harley, along with returning favorites and the classic animation style are generating a lot of buzz amongst the fans. Very little footage has been released from the film thus far, but from that we have found a few fun Harley costume changes that will take place in the feature.

Before there was the DC Extended Universe in live-action cinema, there was the DC Animated Universe – a notable multimedia collection of animated tales based on DC Comics properties. It was the DC Animated Universe that gave birth to the now iconic, fan favourite character, Harley Quinn – who was introduced in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992. In recent years, DC animated films have followed a certain model, releasing two movies told within a continuity heavily influenced by the New 52, with one out of continuity standalone to follow. In the case of 2017, Justice League Dark and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract continue carrying the New 52 torch, with Batman and Harley Quinn being the outside the box offering.

Up until now, not much has been known about Batman and Harley Quinn aside from the fact that it will be an original feature from the mind of one of the Clown Princess of Crime’s co-creators, Bruce Timm. Now, however, an image has surfaced that speaks volumes as to what we can look forward to.

As it so happens, the folks at The World’s Finest spotted the first photo to be taken from the film on the iTunes extras page for Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.
