A documentary covering the 1993 Friday the 13th sequel Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (Watch It Here – OWN It Here) has been in the works for quite a while, and about eight months ago Jason Goes to Hell director Adam Marcus took to social media to give a promising update on its progress, saying that it was about to go through the color timing and sound mixing stages of post-production. It has been longer than expected, but now Marcus has given another update, letting fans know that the color timing and sound mixing are finally happening this month.
Before the week began, Marcus wrote, “The doc just went through legal and has been approved. Which means we are officially Locked! This means the film is completed from an editing stage and we’ve taken all the steps to ensure that the film meets all the standards to be released.

This past Sunday, August 13th, marked the thirtieth anniversary of one of the most divisive entries in the Friday the 13th franchise, 1993’s Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (Watch It Here – OWN It Here). To mark the occasion, Jason Goes to Hell director Adam Marcus took to social media to announce that an epic documentary on the film, Hearts of Darkness: The Making of the Final Friday, is almost finished!
Marcus said, “The picture is locked. Our soundtrack is just days away from completion. It will only have to go through Color Timing next week, Sound Mix the week after and then has to be seen by our legal team (Larry Zerner in Jason’s house!) and then we’re done! I will, at that time, include all of you in what we are working on for our Distribution and Film Festival & Convention schedule. You are, after all,...

Fat City, released in 1972, was something of a “rebound” film for beloved director John Huston, whose previous two films had been flops. Based upon the 1969 novel by Leonard Gardner (who also wrote the screenplay), Fat City follows Stacy Keach as Billy Tully, a small time boxer who never made it big who is living in squalor. When Billy makes a rare return visit to the gym, he meets Ernie (Jeff Bridges, hot off of a Best Supporting Actor nomination for The Last Picture Show). Billy sees some potential in the teenager’s boxing ability and suggests he go see his old manager, Ruben (Nicholas Colasanto—the future “Coach” on Cheers). Ernie does as told, and soon finds himself under Ruben’s optimistic wing, while Billy’s life further deteriorates when he begins an affair with an alcoholic wreck named Oma (Susan Tyrell, who would herself secure a...

Over the years I’ve noticed an interesting phenomena among Star Trek fans which is that most of them love the television series but seem only to tolerate the films. Maybe my perception is off, seeing as how I fall into the category of a non-fan who greatly enjoys the films—namely the ones from the 1980s starring the original cast—but not the TV series from which they were based. For whatever reason, there seems to be a strange sort of disconnect between fans of the TV series and mainstream audiences. Take for example the films that deviated greatly from the series, such as the overly comical Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) which soared at the box office, while films that most resembled episodes of the TV series—namely the awful Star Trek: Insurrection (1998)—performed below expectations. The rebooted Star Trek of 2009 was also...

For many years Tarzan was a staple of cinema—in fact from its very onset. The first Tarzan feature, Tarzan of the Apes, came out in 1918 and was followed by close to 50 other adaptations in the last century. His star started to fade in the late 1960s and there were no Tarzan features in the 1970s save for one. The 1980s somewhat provided his last gasp on the big screen with movies like the Bo Derek vehicle Tarzan, the Ape Man (1981) and- more impressively- the well-received Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. The 1990s saw only 1998’s Tarzan and the Lost City and the 1999 Disney animated version. In fact, for all many “youngsters” know Tarzan may as well have originated with the Disney cartoon. For the first time in many years, we finally have a new big-budget live-action iteration of one of the screen...

Review: "My Name Is Nobody" (1973) Starring Terence Hill And Henry Fonda; Blu-ray Release From Image
By John Lemay
My Name is Nobody is many things: a 1973 spoof of the “young and old gunslingers” sub-genre that began with For a Few Dollars More; Henry Fonda’s last Western (and Sergio Leone’s to an extent); and even a eulogy on the dying of the Spaghetti Western itself. Spearheaded by Sergio Leone himself, Nobody was directed by Tonino Valerii (Day of Anger) and teams Once Upon a Time in the West’s Henry Fonda with They Call Me Trinity’s Terence Hill. As a combo of Leone’s straight westerns and Hill’s “Beans Westerns” (a slang term for comedic Spaghettis) it amounts to quite the crossover film and could’ve easily been called “Once Upon A Time in the West They Called Me Trinity.” While it is never as funny as Hill’s two Trinity films or as epic as Leone’s “horse operas” it is...

With a TV series take on the Friday the 13th film series now in development at The CW, horror fans may be reminded of Friday the 13th: The Series, the late ’80s show that had nothing to do with Jason Voorhees or Camp Crystal Lake, but instead centered on antique store owners seeking to capture and lock away cursed items wreaking havoc outside their shop's doors.
If you're nostalgic for Friday the 13th: The Series, then you'll be pleased to know that all three seasons (72 episodes) of the beloved show were recently added to Amazon Prime Instant Video for fans and Prime members to enjoy.

Genre television is becoming a major presence in primetime TV. Shows like American Horror Story, Hannibal, True Blood and Grimm are dominating the air and doing big numbers for cable and network stations alike. Subsequently, there is a new trend of reviving series once thought to be dead. Netflix is resurrecting Arrested Development, Fox is bringing back 24, TBS rebooted Cougartown. FEARnet is even getting in on the game, bringing back Reaper with an all-new reunion special airing May 28th.
We at FEARnet, being die-hard horror fans, have some ideas as to what we would like to see rebooted, revived, retooled, or resurrected for another turn in the spotlight. There are plenty of factors that play in to the viability of revamping or resurrecting a series. There are concerns of continuity, scheduling, the aging of the cast, and more. We are not proclaiming that a revival of each of these series is necessarily logical.

Well, it’s been seven years since Jason Voorhees chopped up foolish teens exclusively. Sure he shared screen time with Freddy Krueger in 2003’s crossover Freddy Vs Jason, yes he accumulated quite the body count in the film, yes it was a lot of fun, and yes the film was pretty damn successful, but diehard fans such as myself certainly missed that special “alone time” with Mr. Voorhees. Now Jason is back, solely stealing the spotlight and the lives of reckless youngins, and despite a mostly negative critical response and dismal box office staying power, he's still one massive murdering machine.
Over the last 29 years Jason has claimed more victims than even imaginable. From random teens, to strange drifters, to diner employees, Jason has eliminated just about everyone to (unluckily) grace the big screen with the masked menace. As a result of Voorhees’ obnoxious kill rate, fans have pondered the...
