Umberto Lenzi’s Nightmare Beach is a prime slice of late-’80s Italian horror filmmaking. Though it may not be as visually stylish as Dario Argento’s Opera or Michele Soavi’s The Church, the film nevertheless delivers the goods sought after by genre aficionados: set pieces of gory violence and unabashed nudity, a raucous heavy metal-infused soundtrack, and a complete disregard for conventional narrative logic. What’s more, in typically Italian fashion, Lenzi’s film gleefully smashes together various genre tropes in engagingly unpredictable fashion.

Glum footballer Skip (Nicolas De Toth) and his horndog buddy Ronny (Rawley Valverde) arrive for spring break in South Florida just as a killer on a motorcycle starts electrocuting young revelers in a variety of amusingly improbable ways. It's been nearly forty years, but people still remember "The A-Team." The action adventure series went on for five seasons, but stuck around in the public consciousness for much, much longer. People still remember the theme song, the cartoonish violence, the catchphrases. But although many viewers throughout the 2000s wanted a revival of the show, the TV series itself never came back.

Instead, we got a feature film in 2010 starring an updated A-Team, with the characters being veterans of the Iraq War instead of veterans of Vietnam. The film underperformed at the box office, however, and they never made a sequel. Unlike "21 Jump Street," a franchise where the later movies have now long-since overshadowed the TV show for most younger viewers, when people of all ages today think of "The A-Team," they're still almost certainly thinking of the show.

So what have the cast members been up to since...

After he delivered two raunchy misfires in a row with Your Highness and The Sitter, it’s gratifying to see director David Gordon Green return to the same kind of quiet, low-key dramas that put him on the map. And with an extremely limited cast and one constant backdrop, Prince Avalanche is perhaps Green’s quietest, lowest-key film yet.

Its commitment to the abstract is sometimes maddening, and its glacially slow pace is likely frustrating enough to alienate some viewers. However, I found Prince Avalanche remarkable in its ability to transfix me with the simplest of resources: two soulful performers, nature as a nonintrusive setting, feather-light direction and a minimalistic script. As it wanders along, the film possesses a strange, poetic charm that defies explanation.

As the film opens, we learn about a forest fire in the late 1980s that tore through the Texas wilderness, reducing trees and homes to ashes.

Prince Avalanche is the eighth feature film from director David Gordon Green, and though it's far from his best work, it's further evidence that he's one of the more interesting filmmakers to emerge from the American indie scene. Green's back catalogue is split between thoughtful dramas (see George Washington, All the Real Girls) and the kind of knockabout stoner comedies that shuffle through Team Apatow regulars Rogen, Franco, McBride et al.

The weird story is given oxygen through Rudd and Hirsch, who have a vital yet frustrating chemistry through the film’s journey. They both seek redemption, but they refuse to go in the proper direction towards that absolution. They are absolutely oil and water, and must live together through a monotonous existence of painting highway lines and driving each other crazy. The film also has symbolic shades of the stage play “Waiting for Godot” and the film “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” and uses devices such as two old people in mysterious and enigmatic ways.

Chicago – Director David Gordon Green has created a variety of popular and revered movies – from his breakthrough “George Washington” (2000) to his latest, the uniquely titled “Prince Avalanche.”

Green’s new film features Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch as two co-workers in a remote environment, trying hard not to get along.

Green is influenced by his Southern roots, having been born in Alabama and raised in Texas. After studying film at the North Carolina School of the Arts, he made his debut with the acclaimed independent feature, writing and directing “George Washington.” From there he has adapted and directed serious dramas – “All the Real Girls” (2003) and “Snow Angels” (2007) – and comedies like “Pineapple Express” (2008), “Your Highness” (2011) and “The Sitter” (2011). Thoughts by Tsr: It’s occasionally the case that Emile Hirsch is my least favorite part of things. His fine work in Milk is certainly an exception, but he lagged significantly behind Matthew McConaughey, Juno Temple, Gina Gershon, and Thomas Haden Church in my beloved Killer Joe. So when I say that he’s my least favorite part of this trailer for Prince Avalanche it probably sounds like a slight. Not true. It’s merely because in this two man show, Paul Rudd flexing in Hirsch’s face stands supreme.

They truly do look wonderful together, though, and I love their sweetly antagonistic relationship throughout. Rudd gave a lovely, sensitive performance in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and I hope he continues doing smaller, less overtly comedic stuff...

Take a first (official) look at the upcoming comedy-drama Prince Avalanche, which comes from director David Gordon Green, and stars Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch. They look like real road workers, that’s for sure! In case you’re not so familiar with this project, I will first inform you that the movie is actually a remake of the Icelandic film Either Way, and that it will premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival next month.

Written and directed by David Gordon Green, Prince Avalanche centers on two highway road workers Alvin, played by Rudd, and Lance, played by Hirsch, who spend the summer of 1988 away from their city lives.

So far during the ongoing “A-Team Week” festivities, we’ve taken a look at the new B.A. Baracus and “Howlin’ Mad” Murdock. But as everyone knows, no group of kind-hearted vigilantes is complete unless they have a villain to fight.

Those of you who remember the original “A-Team” television series might recall that although they fought many different enemies, their greatest adversary was Colonel Decker (played by Lance LeGault), a member of the military police who hunted them for three of their five seasons. Recently, we caught up with director Joe Carnahan, and he implied that while his new movie won’t feature Decker, its storyline sets him up for the sequel.

“We took the Lynch character who was in the army,” Carnahan said of the villain in the new film, played by Patrick Wilson and based on the Colonel Lynch character glimpsed in early “A-Team” episodes before Decker replaced him.

A little sliver of bad news for fans of "Werewolf". We won't be seeing it in stores as planned on September 1st from Shout Factory! Don't get too broken up though; the delay is not a long one.

According to TVShowsOnDVD the five-disc DVD set has been pushed back about a month for an October 6th release.

The site also learned what a couple of the included special features will be. Fans can expect two featurettes for sure with more likely to come. Getting the The A-Team movie off the ground has been as challenging as getting Mr. T's character, B.A. Baracus, on a plane. Now, with the release date set and a new director and scriptwriter in place, the project's finally coming together.

The A-Team, a hit TV show for NBC that ran from 1983 to 1986, stars George Peppard as Col. John "Hannibal" Smith; Dirk Benedict as Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck; Dwight Schultz as Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock, and Mr. T as Sgt. Bosco "B.A." (Bad Attitude) Baracus. The group of ex-Vietnam vets are constantly on the run for a "crime they didn't commit" while trying to help those in need.

Rounding out the cast in varying seasons are Melinda Culea, Marla Heasley, Eddie Velez, William Lucking, Lance LeGault, Carl Franklin, Jack Ging, and Charles Napier, with series narration by John Ashley.
