Meg Ryan and David Duchovny swung by “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on Friday to talk all things rom-coms — including their new one together, “What Happens Later.”
Kelly Clarkson was shocked to find herself needing to remind Duchovny of a movie he starred in over 20 years ago, because it happened to be one of her favorites of the genre: “What!”
“So I have to say, you’re both in rom-coms that are so massively popular that people love and adore,” Clarkson began before getting cut off by the actor.
“But I’m not, she is,” Duchovny said, pointing to Ryan.
“You are!” Ryan responded, assuringly.
“‘Return to Me’ is like, one of my favorite… what?” Clarkson said in visible disbelief.
“Ok!” Duchovny said, conceding that he had, in fact, starred in a romantic comedy.

Steve Carell’s “Space Force” series will not be back for a third season, a source close to the production confirmed to TheWrap on Friday.
Carell co-created the Netflix comedy with former “The Office” showrunner Greg Daniels, who is working with Netflix on the animated comedies “Bad Crimes” and “Exploding Kittens.”
Season 2 was released on Feb. 18, but failed to crack the Nielsen streaming weekly Top 10, although there were an influx of viewers when the season first dropped: It landed at No. 8 and No. 7 in its two first weeks on the streaming originals Nielsen charts.

The comedy starred Carell, John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Tawny Newsome, Dianna Silvers, Don Lake and Jimmy O. Yang and revolved around the titular government agency trying to find a purpose for their existence.

By the time “Space Force” premiered in 2020, it already felt outdated. Even with a starry cast including Steve Carell and John Malkovich, and all the money a Netflix greenlight can afford, its soft jokes about a Trumpian president run amok landed with barely any impact. “Think about how much of politics is online right now through Twitter,” reflects Ben Schwartz about playing a media manager on the new Netflix comedy “Space Force.” He adds that managing social media “is a valuable asset for a company that wants to spin stories for good or for bad, and just try to get the word out about what ‘Space Force’ does to begin with.” Watch the full exclusive interview above.

Now that it’s one of the most beloved comedies on streaming, across multiple generations, it can be hard to remember that The Office was not well-received when it debuted on NBC in the spring of 2005. It’s not just that the mockumentary format was relatively new to American TV, but that the show’s original conception of Michael Scott was far more malevolent and abrasive than he would become. In particular, the scene in the pilot episode — which was beat-for-beat a remake of the premiere of the British original...

When Donald Trump and the executive branch of the U.S. government announced the creation of a sixth division of the armed forces called “Space Force,” many of us had the same idea. Space…Force? That’s the name? That sounds like a generic Star Trek ripoff you’d find on the front of a DVD in a Lagos street market.
Steve Carell and Greg Daniels, star of and creator of NBC’s The Office, respectively, had a slightly different idea altogether. This is going to get us that sweet Netflix money.
Netflix has greenlit a new series from Carell and Daniels based on the Space Force idea, fittingly titled Space Force. Carell and Daniels will produce and Carell will star. The series is described as a workplace comedy about the men and women tasked with creating the actual Space Force based off of the President’s demented ramblings.

Of all the weird things Donald Trump has done while in office, his insistence that there be a new branch of the United States Military devoted to tackling threats in space is one of the weirdest. The Office creators Greg Daniels and Steve Carell clearly agree, as they’ve reunited for Space Force, a new Netflix comedy series about the formation, objectives and working style of the new organization.
Carell plays four-star General Mark Naird. His ideal job would be to run the Air Force, but the President thinks he can go way higher than the atmosphere. Despite his first reaction being to laugh at the name ‘Space Force’, he’s immediately put in charge of the newborn organization. Its tasks are to protect America’s satellite network and, somewhat more ambitiously, launch a new manned flight to the moon and back. The pressure is on.

Netflix released the teaser trailer for Steve Carell’s new series “Space Force” on Tuesday, showing “The Office” star in his latest workplace comedy.
“Space Force,” inspired by President Trump’s proposal for sixth branch of the military, centers around decorated pilot and four-star general Mark R. Naird (Carell), who has dreamed of running the Air Force, but instead finds himself tasked with leading the newly formed Space Force.
In the new teaser, Carell’s character is shown struggling with the adjustments to his new role — which he copes with by singing “Kokomo” by the Beach Boys alone in his office. It’s implied that his transition is, to say the least, less than smooth, as another character is seen saying over the phone that the new branch is “a complete s— show.”
