After nearly two years, Sweet Magnolias finally returned for its fourth season, which was filmed throughout much of 2024. If you’ve already binged all 10 new episodes, you may be wondering if a fifth season is on the horizon. Netflix has yet to greenlight another season officially, but signs are looking positive for the future still.

Headlined by JoAnna García Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley, these three women form the core of the Magnolias, navigating life in the Southern town of Serenity. The series has been captivating audiences since its debut in May 2020. It’s safe to say that season 4 has been the most eventful so far. This season features a time jump and plenty of festive moments, taking viewers through to Christmas, complete with a surprise Halloween wedding. The town also faces a major challenge in the form of a significant storm that affects the entire community.

A new season of Sweet Magnolias has finally hit Netflix, and if you’re tuning into the opening hour of season 4, you might find yourself with a case of whiplash. That’s because the season does not pick up where we last left off but rather jumps ahead a full year from Ronnie and Dana Sue’s vowel renewal… and quite a lot has happened since we last left in Serenity.

Before we dive into the specifics of things, this seems like a perfect place for a spoiler alert as there are some major plot reveals coming ahead from the Sweet Magnolias season 4 premiere!

As the season opens, we get hit with a bit of an information overload as the writers look to bring us up to speed on what has taken place in the last year.

Sweet Magnolias’s third Season was the weakest, so Netflix must improve the narrative. Hopefully, it listened to the fans and repaired several relationships.

The best films in the genre also feature compelling storylines, character depth, and, of course, flight scenes, among many other factors that go into making an excellent movie.

When movie fans think of classic flying films, the Top Gun franchise may come to mind, especially with the fairly recent release of Top Gun: Maverick. However, Maverick and his comrades are part of the Navy rather than the Air Force. Still, focusing solely on movies about the Air Force branch of the military offers plenty of options for entertaining watches.

A ’60s-set psychodrama about a pair of suburban housewives whose friendship goes haywire — and then some — after one of their children dies in a freak accident, the misconceived but morbidly entertaining “Mothers’ Instinct” is far too slapdash to respect the seriousness of its premise, but at the same time also far too serious to indulge in the campiness of its plot. The result is a movie that’s a little fucked up, a little fun, and mostly just very, very sad in a way that it doesn’t have the heart to explore.

Alice is the fragile one, at least at first. A crumbling eggshell of a woman who’s just been glued back together by the most discrete male psychiatrists in all of Mayberry, she can hardly make breakfast for her seven- or eight-year-old son Theo (Eamon O’Connell) without threatening to flake apart from the pressure to keep up appearances.

We have a late addition to the movie calendar this month. Mothers’ Instinct, the directorial debut of acclaimed cinematographer Benoît Delhomme, brings together Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway. Now, following a recent U.K. release, Neon has announced a U.S. release beginning on July 26, followed by a digital debut on August 13. Ahead of a release, the new trailer has now arrived.

A remake of Olivier Masset-Depasse’s 2018 French-language psychological thriller, the Sarah Conradt-scripted film follows the friendship of two 1960s housewives that rapidly deteriorates after a tragedy. Esteemed cinematographer Benoît Delhomme’s credits have included a conspicuous number of thoughtful, visually sumptuous period pieces, such as The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Theory of Everything and Lady Chatterley’s Lover, as well as a few films made to promote fashion brands like Balmain, Dior and Chanel. In a way, that résumé partially explains why he might have been inclined to make his directorial debut with Mothers’ Instinct, for which he also serves as the Dp.

This pulpy, psychologically shallow and yet beautifully shot period thriller is all about two soignée suburban housewives — played by Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway — who spend the film’s 96 minutes suffering, scheming and losing their minds while wearing immaculate vintage-inspired costumes. Ultimately, the characters’ motivations, like their titular instinct, are weakly delineated, but viewers are well-advised not to worry their pretty little heads about any of that and just concentrate on the pantsuits.

One film we’ve been waiting to see pop up on the fall festival circuit is Mothers’ Instinct, the directorial debut of acclaimed cinematographer Benoît Delhomme, who has worked with Tsai Ming-liang, Anton Corbijn, John Hillcoat, Julian Schnabel, Anthony Minghella, Tran Anh Hung, and more. Led by Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway, the Greek distributor Spentzos Film has now unveiled the first trailer though the U.S. release from Neon has yet to be announced.

Caroline Lagerfelt (“Sweet Magnolias”) has boarded Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway feature “Mothers’ Instinct,” Variety can exclusively reveal.

Lagerfelt will play Chastain’s mother-in-law in the psychological thriller, which tells the story of two women living next door to each other in an idyllic neighborhood in the 1960s. When a tragic accident occurs, it threatens to tear their friendship and families apart.

Based on Barbara Abel’s novel “Derrière la Haine,” the film is directed by Benoit Delhomme (“The Theory of Everything”) who also worked on a Belgian film adaptation of the book, “Duelles.”

Olivier Masset-Depasse directed the Belgian version.

Neon have picked up U.S. rights to the film, which has also sold wide internationally. Anton are repping international sales.

Lagerfelt has most recently appeared in “Sweet Magnolias” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” She also memorably starred as Serena’s grandmother in the original “Gossip Girl” series opposite Blake Lively.

Dear L.A. Friends, The Red Robin, the film that I co-produced and worked for a few years on is having its U.S. Premiere tonight at the Hollywood Film Festival. The screening is at 7 and is at my favorite theater in town, the Arclight Hollywood.

The Red Robin was written and directed by Michael Z. Wechsler, who will be in attendance to introduce the film and do a Q & A afterwards with the cast. I believe that C.S. Lee of Dexter, as well as Caroline Lagerfelt of Gossip Girl, will be there as well. Similarly, many soap opera fans may like this news: Tamara Braun (General Hospital, Days of Our Lives) will guest star in the fifth episode of the upcoming season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

She will appear as Natalia Roosevelt, a bar owner/city council woman who has a connection to a murder victim in the Hamptons. Look for Castle and Beckett to get involved when they take a vacation to that popular New York retreat.

Other confirmed guest stars on Castle Season 5, which kicks off on September 24, include Caroline Lagerfelt and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe.

Prison Break alum Jodi Lyn O'Keefe is set to guest-star on Castle, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

O'Keefe will play Kristina Coterra, a sexy and voluptuous reporter who takes a liking to Castle (Nathan Fillion). Of course, last we saw the novelist, he was finally locking lips with Beckett (Stana Katic). Will Kristina come between them?

"Once Upon a Time" has found its Captain Hook. According to TVLine, Colin O’Donoghue will play the Peter Pan villain in Season 2 of the ABC drama.

Look for O'Donoghue to appear in Season 2's fourth episode. It might be safe to assume the role will be recurring, considering Captain Hook was featured in the Season 2 trailer. O'Donoghue's other credits include "The Rite" and "The Tudors."

O'Donoghue's Captain Hook will be stylish and will posses some old-school manners, but he'll be just as conniving as viewers familiar with the classic character have come to know him. Other Season 2 guest stars include Jamie Chung as Mulan and Sarah Bolger as Princess Aurora.

We’ve got questions, and you’ve (maybe) got answers! With another week of TV gone by, here are some queries we are going to throw at you, from shows including House, Fringe, Castle and Glee!

1 | So now this Olivia on Fringe is into Peter, too? Man, Lincoln Lee just can’t catch a break, in any timeline. Meanwhile, Olivia’s bladder has the worst timing, doesn’t it? (Then again, using a truck-stop restroom, she probably got off easy with a simple abduction.)

2 | Assuming that August tampered with the Once Upon a Time storybook, wouldn’t Henry be quick to notice?...

Gossip Girl said goodbye to one of its own on Monday as Lily’s mom CeCe passed away after keeping her cancer hidden from the entire family, save for fake granddaughter Charlie/Ivy.

But CeCe’s portrayer Caroline Lagerfelt tells TVLine “there’s always a chance” she could return. After all, this is a sudsy primetime soap where anything is possible. “One of my [Twitter] fans said, ‘But that’s not CeCe. That’s her twin sister DeDe!’” the actress recalls with a laugh. “Flashbacks, ghosts, the twin sister DeDe – with Gossip Girl, you never know.”

Here's another day of our visit to the set of The Red Robin feature film, written and directed by Michael Z. Wechsler, and starring Judd Hirsch (Taxi, Damages, The Muppets), Ryan O'Nan (The Brooklyn Brothers Beat The Best, The Frozen Ground), C.S Lee (Dexter), Caroline Lagerfelt (Gossip Girl), Jaime Ray Newman (Eureka, Eastwick), and Joseph Lyle Taylor (Seven Psychopaths).

The film centers around a family reunion that goes awry when the youngest son of the fictional Shellner family accuses his famed psychiatrist father (played by Judd Hirsch) of adopting his family for the purposes of experiments in mind control for the government.

The always lovable Judd Hirsch has done many things in his career since he was springboarded to stardom in the hit TV series "Taxi". Finally, though, he is getting to indulge his darker side ... which could spell very good things for genre fans.

According to Variety the producers of The Red Robin have tapped Hirsch, Ryan O'Nan, C.S. Lee, Jaime Ray Newman, Caroline Lagerfelt and Joseph Lyle Taylor to star in the psychological thriller.

Screenwriter Michael Z. Wechsler will direct and produce.

Actors Judd Hirsch, Ryan O'Nan, C.S. Lee, Jaime Ray Newman, Caroline Lagerfelt, and Joseph Lyle Taylor have all joined the cast of The Red Robin feature film, which begins shooting outside Philadelphia on December 3rd.

After a seemingly interminable hiatus, Gossip Girl returns next Monday with "The Kids Stay in the Picture," the first of five episodes to close out the show's fourth season.

The center of attention this spring: Blair Waldorf.

Lily awaits the consequences of confessing to her crime in the new episode of "Gossip Girl". In addition to her mother CeCe (guest star Caroline Lagerfelt) and ex-husband William (guest star Billy Baldwin), Lily's sister Carol (guest star Sheila Kelley) also comes in town to support her, but Lily is not expecting her presence.

Unbeknownst to Carol, who has always chosen to keep her daughter Charlie (guest star Kaylee DeFer) far away from the Upper East Side, Charlie has followed her to New York to meet Serena and the rest of the family. In the meantime, Dan and Blair deal with the aftermath of their kiss as Chuck realizes that he wants to win Blair back.

"The Kids Stay in the Picture" will air Monday, April 18 at 9/8c on The CW. This episode leading to the season 4 finale will see Blair grappling with the knowledge of whom she's destined to be with.

Blair (Leighton Meester) has an epiphany about her future, and grapples with the knowledge of whom she’s destined to be with. Penn Badgley, Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick, Jessica Szohr and Matthew Settle also star.

For the past month, Gossip Girl fans have been raging war online to see which relationship should take the forefront going into the Gossip Girl Season 4 finale (read the debate).

Chair fans yearn for the return of Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester), if only to see them become even more sexually frustrated. On the other hand, several fans are looking out for Dair fireworks. Dan (Penn Badgley) and Blair ended the last episode with a kiss to see if they had chemistry. Some fans are looking for this to be the new Upper East side Montague vs Capulet romance, while other fans just want to see something different. There’s only so much you can do with Chair before the sexual frustration just leaves you frustrated.

CW's tentatively titled "Lily" will bring '80s heartthrob Andrew McCarthy into the small screen. According to sources, the 46-year-old actor will play the title character's dad in the upcoming CW "Gossip Girl" spin-off.

Sources confirmed to E! News that McCarthy, whose film credits include 1986's "Pretty in Pink" and 1987's "Mannequin," will play Rick Rhodes, Lily's dad and Serena van der Woodsen's grandfather.

He will be joined by "Lost" actress Cynthia Watros as CeCe Rhodes, the younger version of the mother, who is currently being played by Caroline Lagerfelt on the teen series.

Already onboard the show are Brittany Snow, who will play the title character; Shiloh Fernandez, who will play Owen, a possible love interest for Lily; and Krysten Ritter, Lily's wild-child older sister Carol.
