Bloody Disgusting has learned this morning that Ritchie Montgomery and Escalante Lundy have joined the growing cast of Bone Face, an upcoming horror movie starring Jeremy London (Mallrats).

Produced by James V. Bulian and Miles Doleac, through their respective Artist Vodka Films and Historia Films production arms, the film tells the story of the murder of a group of summer campers and the small-town sheriff and deputy that hunt for the killer.

Bone Face marks the directorial debut of Michael Donovan Horn, who previously co-wrote The Dinner Party and Demigod with Miles Doleac.

The Black List, an annual ranking of the most popular unproduced screenplays in Hollywood, has released its 2022 rankings — a list crawling with juicy biopics about superstar singers and sports world redemption tales.

Founded by Franklin Leonard, the list surveys 300 studio executives who weigh in with the strongest screenplays to have crossed their desks over the year. An individual script must be mentioned at least six times to warrant inclusion. The year’s most popular is “Pure,” a psychological thriller that would set Gwyneth Paltrow on edge.

Every year the movies seem to be dying. The writing is on the wall with attendance numbers and box office receipts and the Golden Age of TV. Will people still go to the movies if they can now watch high quality, HD programming from their own home?

Theater chains themselves have been reluctant to give in to Netflix and VOD, but at the risk of being made obsolete entirely, two chains are doing an experiment suggesting they may be willing to play ball. THR reported this week that Paramount, AMC Theaters, and Cineplex have struck a deal regarding two of their upcoming films, the new Paranormal Activity movie, and Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, both October releases. Traditionally, movies are not available on VOD or digital release until three to four months after their initial run in theaters is over, which can be anywhere from a month to six weeks for genre movies.
