Eric Vale is widely known for his role as Future Trunks in Dragon Ball Z. However, the voice actor has many interesting performances cherished by anime fans everywhere. Besides playing the future son of the Saiyan prince, Eric Vale portrays notable shonen anime heavy hitters, like Sanji Vinsmoke. Many fans consider Sanji's scenes the best in the One Piece English Dub.
Although Eric Vale usually covers action-oriented characters, he has voiced several notable exceptions. His role as Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basketshows the range of the popular actor's abilities. He expertly delivers some of the most gut-wrenching lines from the entire anime. Overall, Future Trunks is just one of Eric Vale's many popular voice-acting roles in a shonen anime's English dub.

Shōnen anime may be the most popular in the entire art form. Series like Naruto, Dragon Ball, and the 1,000+ episode saga One Piece are known by people across the globe, but they're not always the most accessible series. Each of the big three listed above has hundreds of episodes, different series within their franchise, and plenty of other reasons why they might not be the best starter anime for someone just getting into the genre.
The best starter shōnen anime have a lot of the same elements as the big three but tell their stories in a lot fewer episodes. To be a great starter shōnen, an anime needs to have a lovable main character, plenty of great fights, and set pieces that can define anime as a whole. Shōnen is a genre characterized by a main character who faces adversity better than most, never letting their limits put them...

The most powerful families in anime can be complicated, to say the least. Sometimes they're on the same side, other times they're not. Families like the Briefs in Dragon Ball have stuck together through thick and thin, and even though Vegeta can be a curmudgeon, his wife Bulma knows exactly how to handle him. Other families, like the Uchiha in Naruto, aren't as intimate but are equally, if not more, powerful. They act as a giant political force, controlling and influencing people around them to achieve their goals as a monolith.
The best families in anime don't have to be related by blood either, as seen by the Forgers in Spy x Family. They're a found family that chooses to be together, showing that not all bonds have to be determined by genes. No matter if an anime family is one cohesive unit, or a mismatch of characters that hate each other,...

During an anime conference in San Antonio, Texas, I had the opportunity to meet Eric Vale, the dub voice actor for Sanji in One Piece, Shigaraki in My Hero Academia, and Trunks in Dragon Ball. At this particular San Japan panel, he shared tidbits of invaluable information suitable for any anime fan hoping to break into the wonderful world of voice acting. Not only was it a dream come true to meet such an iconic actor in real life, but hearing about his experiences, hardships, and lessons he had endured during his career gave me a newfound appreciation for the craft.

Tomura Shigaraki is most often compared to Izuku Midoriya due to their heated rivalry in My Hero Academia. However, he shares much more in common with one of the youngest Heroes, Eri. Eri is a young girl who the Heroes saved from the Shie Hassaikai compound. Eri and Shigaraki had similar pasts but were taken in by vastly different guardians. It would stand to reason that if their roles were reversed, Eri would have become the treacherous monster that Shigaraki is now, while Shigaraki might have been a Hero.
Although they arent closely related in the grand scheme of My Hero Academia, Eri and Shigaraki have more than their pasts in common. They were both victims of abuse, and they never seemed to have any of their own friends. They were also taken in by villains - even though Eri was eventually saved. Tomura Shigaraki has a metamorphosis throughout My Hero Academia. Although hes always been a terrifying villain, he has become practically unstoppable in Season 7. Shigaraki has been responsible for many of the show's most savage and terrifying acts, but some stand out as the worst.
The most savage things Shigaraki has done dont pass his notice, though. Although he acts like his heinous behavior doesnt affect him, fans can see that way of thinking isnt true. Shigaraki continues to be molded by his actions, regardless of whether he acknowledges it or not. Shigarakis most savage acts have taken the most significant toll on him and who he is as a person, especially by Season 7.

The Zodiac Curse in Fruits Basket causes possessed family members to transform and act like their Zodiac Animals. Yuki embodies the traits of the Rat in the Zodiac, appearing popular but battling with low self-esteem. Kisa, the Tiger, grows from a scared young tiger into a confident and brave individual over time.
The Sohma family in Fruits Basket are afflicted by the Zodiac Curse, a bizarre curse that causes certain members of the family to be possessed by one of the thirteen Spirits of the Chinese Zodiac. So many shojo anime titles were really popular in their day for a reason. Many set the standard for other series to follow, like Miaka's magical girl story in the historical fantasy world of Fushigi Yugi. Some viewers may assume that more vintage shojo was popular solely because they followed trends of the time, but there's far more to them than once-trending shojo tropes.
There are many shojo tropes that are just as popular today as they were ten or more years ago, too, like the tsundere love interest who's surly to everyone but their love interest. While some titles should fall out of favor for a reason, there are many that endure the test of time. Whether it's ten or twenty years past their initial release, these series are just as engaging for audiences today as they were before.

Crunchyroll just rolled out the English dub of ‘Dragon Ball Super!’ You can start watching at 1:00 Pm Pst today. It’s a treat for those of us who’ve been waiting to enjoy the series with English voiceovers.
The cool part is, the dub brings back familiar voices from the classic ‘Dragon Ball’ series. Sean Schemmel is voicing Goku again, and Christopher R. Sabat takes on both Piccolo and Vegeta. Plus, we’ve got some fresh voices like Matthew Mercer as Hit and David Gray as Zamasu.
And there’s more to the voice cast. We’re talking Kyle Hebert as Gohan, Christopher Ayres as Frieza, and Monica Rial stepping into Bulma’s shoes. Not to forget, Jason Douglas as Beerus and Patrick Seitz lending his voice to Jiren. The list goes on with talents like Sonny Strait as Krillin and Eric Vale as Future Trunks.

The presumption that any live-action adaptation is destined to fail is one of the greatest stigmas surrounding anime. Live-action adaptations have been happening for decades, both on film and television, but they’re frequently misguided ventures that fail to capture the essence of what made the original so special in the first place. There’s also a compulsion to turn these properties into American productions, which causes the erasure of many crucial details in favor of unnecessary attempts to push these series into the mainstream. Netflix has a curious history with live-action adaptations, both good and bad, but they’ve finally cracked the code with 2023’s live-action One Piece.
Netflix’s One Piece embraces what makes the original anime and manga so special, in conjunction with a massive budget and cooperation with the series’ creator, Eiichiro Oda. Successful live-action anime series suddenly don’t seem so cursed and Netflix has...

One Piece has reached an impressive milestone of 1000 episodes, making it one of the longest-running animated series ever. The series has a complex and engaging story, with new characters and enemies constantly being introduced. The English voice actors of the main characters feel honored to be a part of such a popular and influential series, and they have seen its mainstream popularity grow in recent years.

The One Piece anime has been around since 1999, and after reaching its 1000th episode, the long-running series has never been better. After almost 25 years, the original manga is reaching its final stretch, which in turn, has the anime nearing the same conclusion. As such, several moments are being celebrated alongside its 1000-episode milestone, like its upcoming live-action series on Netflix and Luffy’s new internet-breaking Gear 5 transformation. Now, after several licensing issues causing the dub to falter in its pace, is only a little over a year behind the initial airing of Episode 1000 in Japan. To celebrate the achievement, voice actors Colleen Clinkenbeard (the English voice of Luffy), Luci Christian (the English voice of Nami), Sonny Strait (the English voice of Usopp), and Eric Vale (the English voice of Sanji) spoke with TV Insider about its new production pace, what Episode 1000 means to them, and the dub’s upcoming Gear 5 moment.

When adapting the anime series One Piece to a live-action show, Netflix may need to change the character Sanji’s problem with women. As a medium, anime has several well-known tropes, both for its plots and the character types that populate them. These can range from the idealistic hero to the strangely emotionless yet competent right-hand man. In particular, there’s an additional character, usually a man, who provides part of the comedic relief in anime as one who is deeply enamored with love and the opposite sex. This kind of character appears in many types of anime regardless of genre. Even if they have other personality traits and abilities, their love of love is always a defining element.
As far as including a problematically amorous character in its show, Netflix's Once Piece is no exception to the rule. The anime tells the story of a young boy, Monkey D.
