After dealing with whales and black swans and two of every creature on Noah’s Ark, Darren Aronofsky is going back to the animal kingdom for his next film.
Aronofsky is circling a new adaptation of Stephen King’s “Cujo,” the horror story about a friendly St. Bernard dog that turns killer and unleashes havoc on a small town. The project is in development at Netflix, and according to THR, which first reported the news, the project could be on the fast track after news of an adaptation was reported just last week.
Aronofsky would direct the film should a deal materialize, but no writer is attached. Roy Lee — who has most recently produced “Companion” but is also behind adaptations of other King projects such as “Salem’s Lot,” the “It” films, and Francis Lawrence’s upcoming “The Long Walk” — is attached to produce.

We here at JoBlo.com love us some Michael Fassbender. From Hunger to Inglourious Basterds to 12 Years a Slave to pretty much any of his upcoming projects, the man is one of the finest actors of his generation. But it’s not like he lands every role he wants. He has been open about inadvertently sabotaging his own audition for James Bond by pushing Daniel Craig instead of himself, but he’s missed out on major parts in worse ways than that.
Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Michael Fassbender remembered trying to land the role of Max Rockatansky for George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road. But it went about as bad as it could, with the actor remembering it was straight-up awful. For starters, he was late to meet with Miller by nearly an hour. Frazzled, he said he didn’t have his bearings when he did...

After everything he’s been through, is this really how King Charles’ reign will end?
Buckingham Palace announced in February of last year that Charles had been diagnosed with cancer, but officials did not offer any specifics with regard to the severity of his condition or the organs affected.
The same went for Kate Middleton after she announced her cancer diagnosis. For whatever reason, the royals have decided to keep their conditions under their hats — or, under their crowns, if you like.
However, insiders claim that Charles’ prognosis is an “open secret” among royal staffers, and that those closest to him know exactly what kind of cancer he’s battling.
And he is, truly, in for the fight of his life.

The Russo brothers hate cinema. This much they’ve made abundantly clear time and time again, from prodding at a one-sided beef with Martin Scorsese (“This is my dog; his name is Box Office”) to expectedly being among the first blockbuster filmmakers to sell out to AI (“I want a movie starring my photoreal avatar and Marilyn Monroe’s photoreal avatar”), but don’t be misled; Anthony and Joe Russo hate everything cinema represents. They hate theatrical exhibition, they hate critical assessment defined outside the realm of hard numbers, but most of all, dear reader, they hate you.
Unfortunately, because this is in fact the Russos we’re talking about, the sort of venomous hatred being discussed here isn’t of the variety that gets spun into artistic gold. Some artists can channel their unbridled vitriol into summer anthems systematically annihilating Drake’s credibility, but other “artists” do for sheer...

Michael Fassbender is one of those actors who can just take on any role, completely transform himself, and make you forget you’re watching an actor. Whether he’s playing a mutant mastermind in X-Men, a tech visionary in Steve Jobs, or a fearless warrior in 300, he has proven time and again that he’s got serious acting chops.

Considering federal aid has been cut so much that millions of people will contract polio and malaria as a result, The Electric State has a budget that could be described as a crime against humanity. Just as "no one man should have all that power," no one movie should have $320 million at its disposal, especially if it's not even going to be in theaters. There are countless films that cost $319 million less to make than this, and people should be advised to see them instead. Then again, there's kind of a twisted, disturbing thrill in watching money burn.
I sincerely wanted The Electric State to be better than the rumors suggested. I went in with an open mind, and even my absence of expectations were let down. Hollywood needs an intervention. It requires less money. Like those big banks we all love, it needs breaking.
A Rush to Explain Mr.

Steve Jobs once said, “The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” In the 1970s, George Lucas blew open the world of sci-fi with his first Star Wars flick, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. The seeds he planted as a young filmmaker back in the day would later blossom into the multi-billion dollar franchise we adore today.

And his hunger for success would only go on to fuel his ambition. Among his future plans for the galaxy far, far away, included a television show of equally massive proportions. His vision would have birthed the most expensive TV show of its time, going head to head against already established franchises like Star Trek that were dominating the TV circuit.

Lately, it seems that illustrated novels are having a tough time being properly adapted for the silver screen. It’s only been a few months since the last ill-fated outing, “Here,” in which author Richard McGuire’s profound rumination on time, space and humanity was re-envisioned as a gimmicky schmaltz-fest. Unfortunately, such is also the case for author-artist Simon Stålenhag’s “The Electric State,” which turns his salient, bleak thriller about a young woman searching for her missing brother in a techno-dystopia into a whimsical, sanitized mess of mimeographed ideas from a handful of far better cinematic inspirations.
Directors Joe and Anthony Russo, along with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, surprisingly undervalue their source material’s blueprint when it comes to character construction and immersive world-building. Whatever your expectations for a (supposedly) $320 million Russo brothers Netflix movie starring Chris Pratt as a Chris Pratt type, Millie Bobby Brown as a wannabe Edward Furlong, and Woody Harrelson as the voice of an animatronic Mr. Peanut, I would recommend that you lower them.
A derivative, self-impressed, and seriously confused adventure set in the aftermath of a global war between humans and the talking robots that were “invented” by Walt Disney to amuse tourists at his theme parks, “The Electric State” is essentially a feature-length adaptation of the argument its directors have been making in the press since “Avengers: Endgame,” the scale and success of which seemed to convince them it was the ultimate film in every sense of the word, and thus inspired them to proselytize about how cinema as we know it is about to be replaced by AI holograms of Tom Cruise or whatever.

“Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice,” said Steve Jobs. But in the world of legal battles and public feuds, it seems that the voice of privacy is often drowned out by the roar of scrutiny. And nowhere is this truer than in the ongoing legal clash between Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Justin Baldoni.
The quintessential Hollywood couple has found themselves in a web of accusations and counterclaims with director Justin Baldoni. What’s new in this drama? Well, per recent reports, they’re worried about their private texts getting exposed in court, which could spill some serious tea.

And if “Apple Cider Vinegar” left you wanting more, you’re in luck. There are plenty of other binge-worthy series that explore real-life scams, con artists, and high-profile frauds.

Exclusive: Josh Lucas (Yellowstone) has signed on to star in Slay the Dreamer, a new film based on the life of Rev. James Lawson, the civil rights activist who was friend and advisor to Martin Luther King Jr., from director Joshua Michael Stern (Jobs).
Lucas stars as a washed-up lawyer who in 1976, at Lawson’s request, takes on the case of Grace Walden, the only eyewitness to the man who shot King who had been involuntarily held in a mental institution outside Memphis since the assassination eight years earlier. As the lawyer and his paralegal investigate Walden’s case, they uncover a conspiracy surrounding King’s assassination and risk their careers and lives to bring the truth to light.
Script is by by Donald Freed and Mark Lane, with a rewrite by Stern. Elizabeth Fowler and actor Harold Perrineau (MGM+’s From) are producing, with Joe Berlinger exec producing, and Foresight Media Services financing. Fowler and Perrineau are currently in negotiations with additional cast and are targeting a spring kickoff to production.
In a statement to Deadline, producer Fowler said, “”Slay The Dreamer” is a powerful true political thriller that will remind the world of Martin Luther King’s movement that was deliberately derailed by his assassination. We are hopeful that our film and the release of the classified files will finally reveal the true story behind the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.”
Recently starring in the series Palm Royale, Yellowstone and Long Slow Exhale, Lucas is also known for turns in films like Ford v Ferrari, The Lincoln Lawyer, A Beautiful Mind, American Psycho, J. Edgar, Glory Road, and Sweet Home Alabama, among many others. He is repped by WME, Liebman Entertainment, and Hirsch Wallerstein Hayum.
Stern is best known as the creator, executive producer and director of Epix’s Nick Nolte comedy Graves, and for directing the films Jobs, starring Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs, and Swing Vote, starring Kevin Costner. He is repped by Innovative Artists and attorney Darren Trattner.

The Golden God has shaved his heavenly head. He must have booked a movie about Steve Jobs.
If we can be completely superficial and more than a little parasocial for a second, there’s no arguing the fact that, out of all of the men in the core It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia cast, Glenn Howerton has — or, at least, had — the most incredible and manicured crop of hair. Given that his his competition is Danny DeVito, who has been bald on top since Batman Returns, Charlie Day, who always looks like he rolled out of his shared futon five minutes ago, and Rob McElhenney, who slicked back his own voluminous locks to look more like his buddy Ryan Reynolds at some point in the last few years, Howerton’s hair is (or was) the only five-star cut of the bunch.
Then, yesterday, Howerton posted a photo with his wife and D.

More than most people you know, Oscar-winning animator Pete Docter has marked generations of children for life. I first met him back in 1995, when Pixar launched “Toy Story” into the world. Animation was never the same. I toured the original Pixar compound in Richmond, near San Francisco, and watched over his shoulder as Docter showed me how animators used computers to create characters. That was just the beginning. “Toy Story” was a first step toward a new form of digital motion pictures, pioneered by then leader John Lasseter and the mighty Pixar Brain Trust.
Back in 2018, when Lasseter left the company, Docter moved up to Chief Creative Officer, as the Disney division tried to continue its unsullied record of major hits. It did not always succeed, and the pandemic did not help. But in 2024, “Inside Out 2” broke Pixar’s own box-office record ($1.7 billion worldwide).

First there was Lamborghini: The Man Behind the Legend, the 2022 film starring Frank Grillo and written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Robert Moresco (Crash). Then came the higher-octane Ferrari, the 2023 biopic directed by Michael Mann, with Adam Driver, Penélope Cruz and Shailene Woodley. Now, in Rome’s famed Cinecittà studios, another legendary Italian supercar manufacturer is being immortalized in Moresco’s Maserati: The Brothers, with Italian actor Michele Morrone playing one of the three siblings who founded the trident brand in 1914. (Anthony Hopkins, Andy Garcia and Jessica Alba also star.)
The producer behind all three films, 37-year-old Italian Canadian Andrea Iervolino, is bringing these automotive origin stories to the screen at a time when Hollywood is going motor mad. Witness the forthcoming F1 starring Brad Pitt, or the recently announced Austin Butler and Tom Holland movie American Speed, or the fresh rumors that Tom Cruise plans to reboot his 1990 NASCAR movie Days of Thunder.

It is such a treat to have Michael Fassbender back on screen. After stealing scenes in 300 and Inglourious Basterds, he balanced franchise work in X-Men and Alien movies while giving critically acclaimed Oscar-nominated performances in the likes of 12 Years a Slave and Steve Jobs. But in a move to pursue Formula One driving, he went on a semi-hiatus from acting only to make a triumphant return with last year's The Killer. Before jumping to television with The Agency, though, Fassbender was able to get one more movie in that returned him to his native land of Ireland. The movie, Kneecap, is a small independent feature from the Emerald Isle and is not only worth seeking out but may inspire some light rebellion.

Many of the best writers and directors in the history of cinema have themes that resonate across all of their works, the kind of simmering metaphors and overarching ideas that make every piece of fiction they put together part of a larger film tapestry. Whether it is Steven Spielberg's focus on the impact of growing up in an unstable family, Martin Scorsese exploring the consequences of greed, or Hayao Miyazaki tackling the battle between childlike innocence and real-world struggle, some creators keep similar themes across their films.
Aaron Sorkin, one of the best screenwriters in the history of television and film, has a number of different thematic motifs across his screenplays, but none are as prominent as his exploration of what it means to be a good father and guardian to a child. Love it or hate it, True Crime television is incredibly popular. Whether it's a gripping documentary that showcases the hidden life of a serial killer or a fictionalized drama about a chilling event, these shows have managed to captivate audiences for many years. Plus, even though True Crime spans TV, film, and even podcasting, it seems that the shows are the most digestible medium.
True Crime content has always been coveted, but its acclaim has grown exponentially throughout the 2020s. While many people were isolated during the Covid-19 pandemic, they turned to this genre to help add a bit of drama to their lives. Thus, a lot of audiences are excited to see what else this decade has in store.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan remains a staple of the franchise over 40 years after its release. It showcased the true pinnacle of what a Star Trek film could be when given a chance to flex its muscles. It started a run of pretty successful films that would last until 2016. Not every film was as good as Wrath of Khan, though a few came close or nearly surpassed it.
Others have their own charm, even if they aren't the most loved films in the franchise. Still, even if you think a film or two has surpassed Wrath of Khan, what can't be denied is that Wrath of Khan established a proof of concept for how to succeed with Star Trek films. It was so important to the franchise and entertainment as a whole, that it's going into the Library of Congress's National Film Registry.
So in honor of that unique distinction,...

Elon Musk, who seems to consider himself a comedian, has opined that “The most entertaining outcome is the most likely.”
So it seemed reasonable to ask Grok, the artificial-intelligence chatbot from Musk’s xAI startup that last month became public to all users on X (née Twitter): Who would be the most hilarious actor to portray Elon Musk in your opinion?
The answer from Grok: Sacha Baron Cohen, the British comedic actor known for “Borat,” “Brüno” and his Ali G rude-boy character. One reason, according to the AI bot, is the surprise factor: Casting Baron Cohen “would be unexpected in a way that would generate buzz. Fans might not see it coming, and the contrast between Cohen’s usual characters and Musk’s tech mogul persona could provide a comedic goldmine,” Grok said.

In today's eyes, A Bug's Life is just one of the many films made by Disney and Pixar, but back in the late '90s, the film was a huge deal, being the second or third CG-animated film to ever be made. That's also not the only thing important to know about the animated film. A Bug's Life was also responsible for starting a feud between two major studios: Disney and DreamWorks.
Around the same time Disney was developing A Bug's Life with Pixar Animation Studios, DreamWorks announced that they were making Antz, a similar bug movie with an almost identical premise. It would also be fully computer-generated. The two bug movies were in direct competition with each other, and so were the studios behind them. With no one seeming to be interested in backing out of the race, the feud between Pixar and DreamWorks intensified.

Seth Rogen is one of the more unique comedic actors out there right now. Unlike some professional goofballs, Rogen's career has also included some significant dramatic works. This has included, for example, serious roles in The Fabelmans and Steve Jobs. While he still brings his characteristic humor to all his roles, parts in dramatic films show his range. Rogen is also experienced both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes, serving as a producer on a number of key projects including The Boys and Invincible.
A lot of his dual behind-the-scenes and in-front-of-the-camera work extends to his comedy rolls. In both late 2000s movies Superbad and Pineapple Express, for example, Rogen both stars in and produces the film in some capacity. The same is true for other Rogen-featuring comedies including The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People, The Green Hornet, and 50/50. When The Jetsons premiered in 1962, it wasn’t just a TV show; it was a vision of tomorrow.
As the first animated series broadcast in color during prime time, it dazzled audiences with its kaleidoscope of futuristic dreams — flying cars, robot maids, and video calls that felt light-years ahead of their time.
Against the backdrop of the space race and post-war optimism, The Jetsons reflected a cultural moment bursting with hope for a better, tech-driven tomorrow.
(ABC/Screenshot)
Unlike other sitcoms of the era, The Jetsons wasn’t just about gadgets — it was about humanity.
By blending science fiction with the everyday quirks of family life, the show made the future feel both aspirational and relatable.
George Jetson was a harried husband juggling a demanding boss and a family; Jane Jetson managed a household with technological flair; and their kids, Judy and Elroy, had all the typical adolescent drama –just with jetpacks.

Michael Fassbender's new Paramount+ political thriller series The Agency is a tonally perfect followup to his 2023 David Fincher movie The Killer. Created for American television by Jez and John-Henry Butterworth, The Agency is an adaptation of the 2015 acclaimed French thriller series The Bureau created by Eric Rochant. Fassbender leads the cast of The Agency alongside Jeffrey Wright, Richard Gere, Katherine Waterson, John Magaro, Saura Lightfoot-Leon, and Jodie Turner-Smith.
Fassbender is a 2-time Oscar nominee best known for his titular role in 2015's Steve Jobs and his supporting role in the Best Picture winner 12 Years a Slave. He is also a part of two major film franchises, X-Men and Alien. His other notable film roles include Assassin's Creed, Macbeth, Kneecap, Shame, 300, Jane Eyre, and Inglourious Basterds. In television, Fassbender appeared in Band of Brothers before starring in The Agency.
New episodes of The Agency release every Friday on Paramount+.

Paramount+'s spy thriller The Agency is filled with high-profile actors, and its star-studded cast helped make the show's intricate plot work. The Agency is an English-language adaptation of the French show Le Bureau des Légendes, and it follows Martian (Michael Fassbender), a secret agent placed deep undercover who is suddenly told to report to his superiors in London. After the woman he romanced while undercover, Sami Zahir (Jodie Turner-Smith), finds him in London, Martian's split lives both begin to unravel. The Agency features an intricate story with fast-paced drama, and without its cast, none of that would have been possible.
Reviews for The Agency have been positive, and many critics have cited the show's cast as a major advantage. Many have singled out Michael Fassbender for his performance, and lauded his ability to navigate both of Martian's lives. Every actor and character contributed something unique to The Agency, however,...

Michael Fassbender's new spy series debuts with a poor Rotten Tomatoes score. The Irish actor is perhaps best known for his role as Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto in the X-Men movies from 2011-2016, including X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Aside from X-Men, Fassbender is also well-known for his role in the Alien franchise as David and Walter One in the 2012 prequel Prometheus and its 2017 sequel, Alien: Covenant, both directed by Ridley Scott.
Franchise fare aside, Fassbender is also a highly acclaimed actor. His performance as the plantation owner Edwin Epps in 2013's 12 Years a Slave earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and his turn as the titular co-founder of Apple in 2015's Steve Jobs earned him another Academy Award nomination, this time for a Best Actor in a Leading Role. Not many billionaires are like Elon Musk, except maybe Tony Stark/Iron Man, but then he’s fictional. The multi-billionaire has often drawn comparisons with the popular Marvel character for a long time and has even attempted to cosplay him in real life a few times. Fyi, he even had a brief cameo on ‘Iron Man 2.’
Now the man who played the iconic Iron Man character has some few words for him that anyone can easily interpret as “grow up.”
Robert Downey Jr. Expresses Disappointment Over Elon Musk’s Behavior
Maybe this isn’t even a political thing – Elon Musk has made it clear he’s mightily team Republican – but Robert Downey Jr. isn’t amused by Musk’s eccentric billionaire behavior anymore.
These days, any little time you find Musk not being political or trying to be funny, you’ll find him promoting his ultra-futuristic brands Tesla and SpaceX.

Robert Downey Jr. expressed his desire for Elon Musk to “tone down his behavior a bit,” indirectly critiquing the billionaire CEO, who is frequently likened to his Iron Man character, Tony Stark.

Robert Downey Jr. and Elon Musk briefly shared the screen together in 2010’s Marvel tentpole “Iron Man 2,” in which Downey’s hot shot business tycoon Tony Stark met Musk while at the Monaco Grand Prix. It was a fitting moment, as “Iron Man” screenwriter Mark Fergus once told New York Magazine that Musk partly inspired the screen iteration of Tony Stark due to their technological prowess, cockiness and overall hotheadedness. But what does Downey think about Musk in real life?

Leonardo DiCaprio is known for his remarkable acting talent and stellar performances. The Titanic lead took Hollywood by a storm with his phenomenal performances in numerous critically acclaimed movies. However, the actor also became infamous owing to controversies that surrounded his personal life.
A popular scandal that remained attached with DiCaprio’s name was his alleged dating preference. The actor was often linked with partners who were much younger than him, most of them being either 25 or below in age. This gave him the stereotype of allegedly dating only women who were under the specific age-bracket. One scandal though has nothing to do with the actor’s dating choice, rather his professional behavior came under attack.

From the makers of From Bedrooms To Billions comes The Rubber-Keyed Wonder, a documentary about the Zx Spectrum and its inventor, Sir Clive Sinclair. Our review:
There was a time when the games industry was almost alarmingly casual about its own legacy – it’s only relatively recently that the preservation of videogames, hardware, and the stories of the people that make them have been considered important enough to set down for posterity.
The latest documentary from filmmaking couple Anthony and Nicola Caulfield (From Bedrooms To Billions), The Rubber-Keyed Wonder steps in to capture the recollections of the people who developed and programmed the Sinclair Zx Spectrum – an 8-bit computer that, arguably more than any other, helped ignite the British videogaming scene back in the early 1980s.
It sadly arrives too late to interview its inventor, Sir Clive Sinclair – he passed away in 2021 – but through conversations with family members and former colleagues who worked with him,...

Back when Two and a Half Men was facing its biggest shake-up, Ashton Kutcher almost walked into a role that could’ve turned the whole show upside down. Fresh off Charlie Sheen’s exit, the producers had a plan for Kutcher’s character—a billionaire who’d barely keep his head above water. But at the eleventh hour, they pulled a switcheroo that could’ve backfired in a big way.

Imagine that: a totally different vibe, a major character change, and all those big expectations riding on it. One wrong move, and the show’s comeback might’ve been a total train wreck. But somehow, against all odds, they nailed it, turning Kutcher’s entrance into a game-changer instead of a flop.

On Aug. 10, some 12,000 of The Walt Disney Co.’s most ardent fans gathered in Anaheim’s Honda Center waiting with bated breath. The entertainment giant was in the middle of its biennial D23 conference, and Saturday night was the flagship event for Disney’s Experiences division, where chairman Josh D’Amaro would lay out the company’s long-term plans.
What followed was part concert, part panel and part Apple keynote, with musical performances from the likes of Meghan Trainor, Shaboozey, Rita Ora and Plain White T’s; appearances from Billy Crystal, Ke Huy Quan and John Stamos; and even a Steve Jobs-ian epilogue, with D’Amaro wrapping things up (some attendees were seen darting from their seats to the exits) before the Magic Mirror from Snow White appeared behind him, leading to a mic-drop moment with the news that Disney was building a land at Walt Disney World dedicated to iconic Disney villains.

Anything and everything to do with the Hollywood revolution starts with George Lucas and Star Wars. The visionary director and certified genius from whose imagination the galactic empire was conceived took a lot of impossible leaps to make his dream a reality. Among those leaps were the foundation of Industrial Light & Magic and eventually, Pixar.

Today, both these animation companies stand at the pinnacle of computer-generated graphics imagery and the department of visual effects. Without Ilm, the film and entertainment industry would be robbed of such classics as Alien and Terminator. Visionaries like James Cameron would be equipped with grand ideas ahead of his time with no tools to help shape them into reality.
Pixar, on the other hand, has singlehandedly ruled over Hollywood’s animation works, breaking box office records left and right with their cutting-edge animated films that have produced more Oscar-winning billion-dollar films...

The deal that is expected to install Skydance chief David Ellison as chairman, CEO and hopefully savior of Paramount Global is a labyrinth of entities, trusts and transactions. Also potentially complicated, assuming the deal closes sometime next year, is the question of control.
Skydance sources say 41-year-old David will select the board and run things entirely independent of his father, Larry Ellison, also known as the world’s fifth-richest man, worth an estimated $176 billion, per Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index tally on Sept. 18. But Larry, 80, will own the controlling shares. Having previously bestowed billions on David and his sister, Megan, Larry has now backed his son to the tune of $6 billion as David pursued his dream of running a legacy studio.
What role, if any, Larry will play at the new Paramount is not clear. But given his track record of significant Maga activity, there is certain to be scrutiny — though...

Streaming giant Netflix is betting on original content with local authenticity and a focus on audiences rather than critics or media executives, co-ceo Ted Sarandos told a TV industry gathering in London on Tuesday.
Speaking during a keynote address at the Royal Television Society’s (Rts) London Convention 2024, for which Netflix served as the principal sponsor, he also shared his thoughts on the streamer’s British hits, including Baby Reindeer, for which star Richard Gadd won Emmys for best actor and best writer on a limited or anthology series or movie this weekend, and the importance of the U.K. for the streamer and the country’s creative edge.
For example, Sarandos told the event that when Netflix publishes its latest audience engagement report on Thursday, the top four shows will all be U.K.-produced, namely Fool Me Once, Baby Reindeer, Bridgerton, and The Gentlemen, with a combined reach of 360 million households.
