Angus T. Jones had a hard time reconciling his devout Christian faith with his bawdy CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men, so he left the show. But now the former child star has seemingly left organized religion and is reconsidering his decision to say goodbye to stardom.

“I was very confident at that time,” Jones, 23, says in the current issue of People of his decision to leave Men in 2013 after telling Seventh-Day Adventist filmmaker Christopher Hudson, “You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that.”

Directed by Stuart Cooper, who seamlessly interweaves archival war footage and a fictional narrative, the 1975 war drama Overlord is an immersive account of one twenty-year-old’s (Brian Stirner) journey from basic training to the front lines of D-day. Angus T. Jones’ plea to be released from his contract on “Two and a Half Men” came as little surprise to the managers and families of child performers. Jones’ comments in an interview with Alabama-based Christian doomsday preacher Christopher Hudson have sparked a backlash against the actor. In the lengthy interview, Jones said his work on the long-running CBS series “means nothing.” He addressed the viewers directly. “If you watch ‘Two and a Half Men’ please stop watching ‘Two and a Half Men.’ I’m on ‘Two and a Half Men’ and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it. Please stop filling your head with filth,” he said. Jones said his views had been shaped by his joining a Los Angeles–area Seventh-day Adventist Church. “I walked in and sat down kind of in the back. The message that the pastor was preaching that day was tailor-made for me.

Angus T. Jones might have admitted "I'm on 'Two and a Half Men,' and I don't want to be on it" during his recent religious testimony proclaiming himself a supporter of the Forerunner, but that doesn't mean he's looking to quit the hit CBS series either. The 19-year-old actor issued an apology to the cast and crew saying his statements against the show weren't supposed to be an attack against them, and now it's being reported that he will stay on "Two and a Half Men" until his contract runs out.

Considering Jones's contract expires at the end of this season, he won't have that much longer to wait. He's already scheduled not to appear in the next two episodes of the show that are filming before the holiday hiatus, so the situation could blow over by the time he has to return to set.

If you have been following celebrity or TV news at all over the past few days, you should know by know that Jones released a video of himself in which he called "Two and a Half Men" filth that no one should watch. Apparently, bad sitcoms are antithetical to Jones' new religion, a Seventh-Day Adventist group led by a man called Forerunner. The actor has since apologized for any slight on the show's cast and crew, but his overall opinions have not publicly changed.
