Vendôme’s Philippe Rousselet and Jerico Films’ Eric Jehelmann will produce while Vendôme’s Fabrice Gianfermi and Jeremy Plager serve as executive producers. Snd will co-produce, distribute in France and launch sales in Cannes.

As well as international sales rights, Paris-based film company Snd has also taken distribution rights in France and will co-produce.

Philippe Rousselet at Vendôme Films and Eric Jehelmann at Jerico Films lead produce. The companies are subsidiaries of Paris-based Vendôme Group, Rousselet’s Oscar-winning banner (Coda) with Fabrice Gianfermi, who takes an executive producer credit with Jeremy Plager.

Andy Serkis and Woody Harrelson have signed on to star in The Man with the Miraculous Hands, a WWII psychological thriller from Rampart and The Messenger filmmaker Oren Moverman.

Based on a true story, the film is set in 1939 and features Harrelson as Felix Kersten, a renowned, apolitical medical masseuse who becomes the personal physician to Heinrich Himmler (Serkis), the head of Hitler’s SS and one of the chief architects of the Holocaust. As the war rages and Himmler’s health declines while his authority continues grows, Kersten finds himself in a unique position to influence decision making on the highest level inside the Third Reich. He begins to play a dangerous game, using his medical skills as a weapon to influence Himmler, turn him against Hitler, and bring an end to the war.

French outfit Vendôme Group (Oscar-winner Coda) is producing the feature together with Jerico Films and Snd.

Keshet International has commissioned the six-part docuseries “Hitler’s Treasure Hunters” from production outfit Perpetual Entertainment(“Troppo”).

Ki’s second straight-to-series factual order for international distribution, which figures into a new Greenlight: Factual & Formats commissioning initiative, the show centers Heinrich Himmler’s Das Ahnenerbe, a branch of the Nazi SS that sought religious relics and high-value international artifacts – such as the Holy Grail and Thor’s Hammer – in order to gain solid footing in the war and advance Aryan supremacy.

Jonathan Glazer’s Oscar-nominated film The Zone of Interest never once offers to hold your hand. While the film is not coy about its setting during the mind-crushing horror of the Holocaust, it demurs from telling you what to think about its images. This is a movie that dares you to merely observe, to study, and to have the courage to not look away. It doesn’t even tell you what the title The Zone of Interest is referring to—although it is obviously nothing good.

And it is that implicit evil, that unspoken insidiousness, which led to the creation of the term in the first place. Indeed, the zone of interest, or “interessengebiet,” which translates to “interest zone,” was a euphemism coined by bureaucrats in the SS to create a kind of bland, innocuous language which concealed the premeditated murder...

With the notable exception of the beloved Carrie Fisher, many of the iconic lead actors in the "Star Wars" saga are still with us. Director John Sturges’ final feature is a handsome production that fumbles and stumbles in unexpected ways. Michael Caine and especially Donald Sutherland lead an impossible commando mission to kidnap Winston Churchill right from English soil. Tom Mankiewicz’s dialogue is witty but the tone is all over the place. We don’t know whether it’s the script, the direction or the editing that muffs so many potential bravura moments. On the other hand, every scene with Sutherland and Jenny Agutter is gold. [Imprint] gives us both a theatrical cut and a more satisfying extended cut.

A rather pedestrian presentation of a potentially fascinating story, Vanessa Lapa’s “Speer Goes to Hollywood” expands on a little-known footnote to the Hydra-headed history of the post-war fates of top Nazi lieutenants. It is based on the 1972 recordings of conversations between Albert Speer, Hitler’s architect, friend and wartime munitions minister, and screenwriter Andrew Birkin (the Kubrick protegé who co-wrote “The Name of the Rose” and directed “The Cement Garden”) as they collaborate on a screenplay based on Speer’s memoir “Inside the Third Reich.” But Lapa’s embellished archival doc falls some way short of the cinephile/history lover’s catnip that tantalizing summation promises.

It is never easy to look at Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will as anything other than what Dr. Anthony Santoro quite rightly calls a “supreme propaganda film.” As that, it is nearly unparalleled in the dubious annals of film history. Contributing to its difficulty in terms of analysis, however, is the fact that it is, at the same time, more than simply a notorious document of evil in bloom. For all the troublesome features that recurrently arise through the course of this film—the domineering presence of Adolf Hitler being just one obvious example—this is one remarkably well-crafted motion picture. Its status as the ultimate work of cinematic propaganda is, indeed, a direct result of just how superbly powerful, sadly persuasive, and expertly realized the documentary is, for better or worse.

Residents of Salzburg, Austria are fighting plans to turn the villa that once housed the real-life Von Trapp family into a hotel.

The estate of Baron Georg von Trapp recently became a tourism mecca after fans of movie musical The Sound of Music realised the home, which did not feature in the 1965 hit, was the real retreat of the nobleman, played by Christopher Plummer in the film.

And now a developer plans to turn the famous mansion into a 14-room hotel, museum and wedding chapel.

Manfred Schitter, who heads up a residents' association opposed to the hotel plans, fears tourist buses and visitors will ruin life in Salzburg as more and more people learn about the von Trapp mansion.

He tells the Los Angeles Times newspaper, "The villa was a Sleeping Beauty and should remain a Sleeping Beauty."

The residents have handed over a 600-name petition to the town's mayor, hoping to block the hotel, which is set to open on 25 July.

Local historian Ines Eberi admits she has a problem with the mansion's dark past - it was once occupied by Nazi officer Heinrich Himmler - and doesn't think holding parties and weddings there will be fitting.

She says, "I find this a political issue to celebrate parties in it or to organise attractions there."...
