“Will they remember the words to my song when I’m dead and gone?” Shooter Jennings asks in the new song “Leave Those Memories Alone.” The answer doesn’t really matter after you digest the next line: “While I’m here, I can’t remember the words to my own songs,” he admits.
“Leave Those Memories Alone,” a horn-laced slice of country soul, was first recorded in 2017 for an album Jennings dubbed Over a Cocaine Rainbow. He says the record was too “dark and experimental” to release at the time,...

Who were the best LGBTQ couples in daytime soap opera history? The sad truth is that there aren’t that many to choose from. Despite the shows dipping their toes in the water with queer characters and storylines in the 1990s — like Ryan Phillippe as groundbreaking gay teen Billy Douglas on “One Life to Live” from 1992 to 1993 — the show shied away from romance for its queer characters until the 21st century. Shooter Jennings wants to tour with robots. Which, if you’ve been following the songwriter’s eclectic career, makes complete and perfect sense. While he may be the son of leather-and-lace country couple Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter, the 39-year-old is less inspired by the outlaw Seventies than he is the outsized Eighties. He’s obsessed with vintage video games, plays guitar with custom-made picks featuring the likeness of He-Man villain Skeletor, and in 2016 released a superb tribute to electronic music pioneer Giorgio Moroder.

Coronation Street
As much as I liked their scenes, Sean’s horrible presence notwithstanding, it’s pretty clear that Aiden and Marcus’ relationship is doomed. Supposedly, they’re dating, but we haven’t seen any of their relationship develop on screen. I guess the real storyline is what’s going to happen between Marcus and Maria, but I would have liked to see some attention given to Aiden and Marcus fledging coupling.
I’m a big fan of Marcus and I think Aiden is a likeable and engaging character and it would be nice if he was developed and fleshed out. I love how Aiden is just an average bloke who defies the gay stereotypes that someone like Jason wants to put upon him. The scenes with Aiden, Jason, Marcus and Maria have been just adorable.

I’m glad Amira has finally gotten the message, given up on Syed and left town. Given that Syed cheated on her for over a year with Christian, ended their marriage to be with Christian and wanted nothing more than to be with Christian after Christian dumped him late last year, it’s pretty clear that he’s just not that into her. I just hope she doesn’t give him a hard time about finally getting a divorce and lets him see his daughter regularly without a hassle. Her character has worn out her welcome, and it’s time to move on. I will miss scenes of Christian and Amira being bitchy to each other though. That was always fun to watch.
As for Zainab finally confessing that she purposefully sent Yusef to his death, which led to Tamwar being seriously burned, it was a moment long in coming.

Though Glee honored the late Whitney Houston last month with an unexpectedly timely cover of “I Will Always Love You,” TVLine has confirmed that New Directions will once again and more purposefully celebrate the musical icon this season with one of its signature tribute episodes.
As first reported by E! Online, the Fox drama is currently in production on the special installment that centers on the growing pains of Glee‘s graduating seniors. “It’s using Whitney’s music as a way to say goodbye,” a source tells the site. “A way to respectfully say ‘thank you’ for her music.

HollywoodNews.com: I’ll have red carpet coverage galore from the 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards later today and lots and lots of bits of news that I picked up from here and there.
Chatted up just about everyone I really wanted to including Susan Lucci, Bonnie Hunt, Tuc Watkins, Michael Muhney, Jon Hensley, Eden Reigel, Brandon Beemer, Mark Hapka, Shawn Christian, Carolyn Hennesey, Doug Davidson, Drew Tyler Bell, Zach Conroy and Austin Peck, among many others.
But first let’s tell you who won what and share some of the backstage dish and the photos I snapped.
While there is debate about the quality of the telecast itself (Dick Clark tribute too long, As the World Turns Tribute too short etc), I must say that it was a dream backstage where everyone was in a good mood, the food they served us was delish, and the WiFi was nice and speedy!

Although it is facing cancellation after 53 years on TV, "As the World Turns" stole the spotlight at this year's Daytime Emmy Awards. On Sunday, June 27 at the Las Vegas Hilton, the soap opera, which airs each weekday on CBS and will end its run in September, has won trophies for three of its stars, Michael Park, Maura West and Julie Pinson.
Michael won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Maura nabbed the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, and Julie secured the Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Upon accepting his award, tearful Michael in particular thanked his on-screen romance Maura and bid an emotional farewell to the show.
"We had to say goodbye to over 60 members of our family on Wednesday. It was heartbreaking, and I pray you never have to endure what we endured on Wednesday," the 41-year-old actor who won his first Emmy on the special night said.

The 2010 Daytime Emmy Awards host Regis Philbin dedicated a few minutes to "As the World Turns". He invited the show's stars and real-life married couple Jon Hensley and Kelley Menighan to the stage to introduce a video tribute for the show that ends its 54 years run this Fall.
"Not only we fall in love with the show, we fell in love with each other," Kelley said. Her husband added, "And it's no wonder, since its debut in 1956, the show has been always about people who care about each other. About six generations of family who love, learn, change, grew and kept their world turning everyday."
Then a montage of the show, starting when it was black and white and ending with this year's run, was broadcast.
"As the World Turns" is nominated for 13 at this year's awards and has won one so far through Julie Pinson. CBS is airing the live telecast.

In The Spotlight – Degrassi: The Next Generation, Clara Sheller, and River City
This week we look at three very different series that hail from three different countries. But all have one thing in common: each tell interesting and intriguing stories about the lives and loves of gay men.
First up, Degrassi: The Next Generation and ‘The Life of Riley’.
Riley Stavros, played by Argiris Karras, is the long running Canadian teen drama’s latest entry in its much-lauded history of depicting the lives of gay characters. But two recent episodes clearly showed Riley is very different from Degrassi’s last gay character, Marco (out actor Adamo Ruggiero). Where Marco was openly gay and never struggled with his sexual identity, it’s been nothing but a constant battle for Riley. In fact, he hates being gay and desperately wishes things were different. But as we see in this first clip, he...

Chatting With … Sri Rao
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Sri Rao, the former head writer of last year’s best soap opera on either daytime or nighttime television, General Hospital: Night Shift. In addition to discussing his work on that gay-inclusive, critically acclaimed show, Rao also shared his thoughts on the depiction of gay characters in the genre, who should write gay characters, how As the World Turns handled the Luke and Noah storyline, as well as news about a new project very close to his heart.
[While very interesting and worthwhile, this interview is five pages long. To skip directly to this week's In My Humble Opinion, Gool Newsbeat and Scoops And Spoilers click here.]

Sri Rao: No, this was my first foray into the soap opera genre. I had been watching General Hospital for my entire life. I’m a long-time fan of the show so I was very familiar with it.
