Popping up on our list of films we’re really keen to see this year is the British production Time Travel Is Dangerous. Directed by Chris Reading, who penned the script with Anna Elizabeth Shakespeare and Hillary Shakespeare, it’s a comedy headlined by Sophie Thompson, Johnny Vegas, Jane Horrocks, Mark Heap and Tony Way, with Stephen Fry narrating.

It’s a mockumentary, with a time machine ending up in the hands of, well, two people it’s best not to give a time machine to. A concept that the film appears to be having an awful lot of fun with.

Despite the drama on his other series, Apple TV+'s The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin, Noel Fielding will return to host The Great British Bake-Off. In a new statement, the actor and host's spokesperson insisted that, despite the rumor mill churning out worry given the cancelation of Dick Turpin, Fielding "will be returning" to host the popular reality series.

Fielding's spokesperson has since issued the following statement (which we first encountered via Deadline):

There has been absolutely no discussion about Noel stepping down from 'Bake Off.' We have been in contact with Channel 4 and Love Productions throughout all the speculation and his ‘stepping down’ has never been part of that dialogue. We can confirm he will be returning to co-host the next series of 'Bake Off.'

Production has ceased on Season 2 of the Big Talk Studios series about an 18th-century highway robber, putting a cast and crew of hundreds out of work with nothing to show for their efforts. Filmed footage cannot be fashioned into a scaled-back season and there is no hope of getting the show back on the road, according to three sources familiar with Dick Turpin’s demise.

Shooting had already begun three months ago for the upcoming season, and it was reportedly three-quarters done. According to the outlet, Season 2 can't go on without Fielding, so producer Big Talk Studios decided to disband the cast and crew.

Apple TV+‘s comedy The Completely Made–Up Adventures of Dick Turpin will not return.

The show has ceased production on series two, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Thursday. British tabloid The Sun first reported the news, adding that titular star Noel Fielding — well known among U.S. audiences as a co-host of The Great British Baking Show — pulled out three-quarters of the way through the shoot.

Filming started on a second series in the autumn, the tabloid said, but 51-year-old Fielding did not return after the Holidays. The cast and crew have now been stood down. Though THR has been unable to confirm the report, Fielding’s team has been contacted for comment.

Written by Fielding, Richard Naylor and Jon Brittain, the series followed the contemptuous life of the 18th-century highwayman, known in York, England, as a thief, poacher and killer but whose exploits have been widely romanticized in modern culture.

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin might be no more.

According to Deadline, who got the news from The Sun, there’s no rescuing the series, which was already roughly three-quarters of the way through shooting the second season.

The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin followed the titular British highway robber with fabulous hair and his gang of lovable, mischievous rogues. The first season, which aired in March 2024, was warmly received and currently enjoys an impressive 84% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Season 2 of the Apple TV+ comedy has been shut down after Noel Fielding pulled out around three-quarters of the way through the shoot.

The Sun newspaper first reported on Dick Turpin’s demise. Deadline understands that Season 2 cannot be salvaged and that producer Big Talk Studios has disbanded the cast and crew.

The Sun reported that Fielding “failed to come to work” at the start of 2025 after the series paused for the Christmas holiday.

Apple, Big Talk, and Fielding’s rep at Pbj Management have been contacted for comment.

In the irreverent retelling of the 18th-century highwayman’s life, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship, and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity.

Charlie Cox is undoubtedly best known for playing Matt Murdock, the blind vigilante patrolling the streets of Hell's Kitchen (not the Gordon Ramsay restaurant), New York, as Daredevil, in the appropriately titled hit series, Daredevil. Cox is set to return as Daredevil, this time with his own series in the MCU, when Daredevil: Born Again premieres this March. But, years before he wore Murdock's red suit, Cox was best known for leading a cult-classic adaptation of a beloved fantasy novel. BBC Announces ‘Can You Keep a Secret?’, Starring Dawn French and Mark Heap...

Dawn French is returning to the BBC with a sitcom from This Country’s Simon Mayhew-Archer, CBS Studios and Big Talk.

French is co-starring with Mark Heap on Can You Keep a Secret?, in which the comedy icon will play widower Debbie Fenton, who will stop at nothing to make sure her family’s protected. Unfortunately, most of the time the person they really need protecting from is her. When her hermit-like husband William (Heap) unexpectedly dies, she makes an outlandish decision that will put the family under more pressure than ever before.

French hasn’t appeared on the BBC since a French and Saunders Christmas special in 2017. She made her name with her sketch show alongside Jennifer Saunders and has appeared in a wealth of other comedies and dramas, as well as performing stand up.

Can You Keep a Secret? is being created and written by Mayhew-Archer and directed by Ghosts’ Simon Hynd.

Absolutely Fabulous star Jennifer Saunders, The Life Of Pi’s Hiran Abeysekera and See How They Run’s Pippa Bennett-Warner have joined the cast of Ben Gregor’s The Magic Faraway Tree, which is currently filming in the south of England and at Shinfield Studios.

The film follows the Thompson family as they relocate to the remote English countryside, where the children discover a magical tree.

Saunders stars as the Thompson children’s ruthless grandmother, with Bennett-Warner as her assistant, while Abeysekera plays Angry Pixie, one of the inhabitants of the Faraway Tree.

Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Billie Gadsdon and Phoenix Laroche play the children.

Jennifer Saunders (“Absolutely Fabulous”), Laurence Olivier Award-winner Hiran Abeysekera (“The Life of Pi”) and Pippa Bennett-Warner (“Gangs of London”) have joined the cast of the film adaptation of Enid Blyton’s “The Magic Faraway Tree,” which is currently in production.

The film, based on Blyton’s beloved “The Faraway Tree” series, follows the Thompson family as they move to the English countryside and discover a magical tree. The fantastical tree’s residents transport visitors to distant lands, setting the stage for a series of whimsical adventures.

Saunders has been cast as the children’s grandmother, Abeysekera as the Angry Pixie, and Bennett-Warner as the grandmother’s assistant, Hannah. Newcomers Delilah Bennett-Cardy, Billie Gadsdon and Phoenix Laroche will play the Thompson children.

These actors join previously announced cast members Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy, Nicola Coughlan, Jess Gunning, Nonso Anozie, Dustin Demri Jones, Mark Heap, Oliver Chris, Lenny Henry, Simon Russell Beale and Michael Palin.

Via an interview with The Radio Times, star of Friday Night Dinner, Green Wing, and, more recently, The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, Mark Heap, gave an exciting update about the progress of the latter's second season. Apple TV+ has given the green light for a second season of the adventure comedy The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, starring Noel Fielding.

The British series, which debuted worldwide on March 1, has comic and actor Fielding playing 18th century highwayman Dick Turpin alongside his merry band of outlaws. “Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity,” Apple TV+ said of the comedy headed to another cycle.

There’s no word on casting or a premiere date for the second season of the British comedy created by Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis and Stuart Lane. The first season ensemble cast included Duayne Boachie, Ellie White, Marc Wootton, Asim Chaudry, Mark Heap and Hugh Bonneville as a ruthless and corrupt thief-taker.
