When it comes to Stephen King adaptations, Netflix's track record thus far has been pretty solid. From Mike Flanagan's precision tooled 2017 take on Gerald's Game and Zak Hilditch's underappreciated supernatural thriller 1922, through Vincenzo Natali's 2019 offering In The Tall Grass and John Lee Hancock's Donald Sutherland led Mr. Harrigan's Phone, the streamer has shown a solid knack for bringing the Master of Horror's works from page to screen. And now, per Deadline's reporting, the streaming giant has just set its fifth King joint — a new adaptation of the legendary writer's 1981 killer canine thriller Cujo.
Details on Netflix's plans for the King classic are scarce at this stage, with no writer, director, or St. Bernard shaped star set in place just yet. We do however know that Roy Lee, whose credits include Andy Muschietti's It duology, Mike Flanagan's Doctor Sleep, The Stand TV series, and the recent Salem's Lot remake,...

Runaway Jury, one of the best legal thrillers based on a John Grisham novel, has entered Netflix's top 10. The film features an incredible cast, which includes John Cusack, Gene Hackman, Dustin Hoffman, and Rachel Weisz, and was directed by Reacher's Gary Fleder. Runaway Jury currently sits at number seven in the United States and in the Netflix top 10 worldwide.
The movie is about a lawyer named Wendell Rohr (Hoffman), who is up against Rankin Fitch (Hackman), a shady jury consultant who is able to stack juries in the favor of the defense. In a high-stakes trial against a gun manufacturer following a workplace shooting in New Orleans, one juror (Cusack) and his girlfriend (Weisz) appear able to manipulate the jury to deliver the verdict they wish.

Are you a Big Mac or Quarter-Pounder with Cheese kind of person? Don't even start with the Filet o' Fish or McRib. We have chosen these items from the McDonald's menu since 1954, all because of the indefatigable efforts of a man named Ray Kroc. In John Lee Hancock's 2016 movie The Founder, Michael Keaton plays an enterprising man in his 50s who took a mom-and-pop operation based in San Bernardino, California, making it a household name across the United States and worldwide. Though not a full-fledged biopic, The Founder is based on the true story of how Kroc, a floundering food service sales representative, discovered brothers Dick and Mac McDonald, who invented the first fast food model in their burger stand 75 years ago.

2021's "The Little Things" is a fascinating little moment in cinematic history, not only because it debuted at the height of the global pandemic, but also because it was so close to being good that it almost doesn't make any sense that it wasn't. Writer/director John Lee Hancock produced a slick and stylish noir with an ending that at least tried to subvert some well-established tropes of the genre, leaving the central mystery unsolved. Denzel and his co-stars Rami Malek and Jared Leto all gave it their best, with Denzel in particular melding his undeniable charisma with a palpable sense of mournful regret. It should have been great, and yet it turned out sort of okay.
There's also the fact that this could have been the definitive Denzel crime thriller. Back in 1995, Washington almost played the role that eventually went to Brad Pitt in David Fincher's "Se7en," but...

With the likes of Spider-Man 4, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, and (presumably) a couple of indie flicks by name of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars looming on his horizon, Tom Holland could be forgiven for taking a bit of a breather before committing himself to any more projects just now. But having just taken a year out from acting after the release of 2023's The Crowded Room, there's no sign of Holland disappearing again any time soon. Per Deadline's reporting, the British actor has just signed on to star in and produce legal thriller The Partner, an adaptation of John Grisham's eponymous 1997 bestseller.
Boasting a script from The Imitation Game scribe Graham Moore, The Partner will see Holland explore another morally fraught character cut more from the Cherry or The Devil All The Time cloth than the Spidey suit. The original book, released during a run in...

Tom Holland continues to snag leading roles in non-Spider-Man movies. Next up, the long-awaited adaptation of John Grisham's 1997 bestseller The Partner.
According to Deadline, Holland has made a deal to star in and produce The Partner, a drama based on the 1997 novel of the same name. Graham Moore, whose writing credits include The Imitation Game (2014) and The Outfit (2022), is scripting for Universal. This will be Hollywood's second crack at The Partner after John Lee Hancock previously tried to bring the novel to the big screen as his follow-up to The Blind Side. After Hancock left the project, Mark Wahlberg became attached to star in The Partner in 2012. However, this version, which was in development at New Regency, eventually stalled. This led to the rights being up for grabs again, with Rideback swooping in to buy them. Rideback will produce The Partner alongside Holland's new production label Billy17.

Anne Rice is an acclaimed author who has written several novels, and because of this, she has created many incredible stories. She has written so much that figuring out what order to read Anne Rice's novels in is something that is a task in and of itself. Not all books have the same quality, however, as some of Anne Rice's series are better than others.
In the modern day, many of these stories have grown to be something more than their original novel debuts. In fact, a new spin-off series of Anne Rice's work called The Talamasca is set to release in the future. At the core of it all, the series that are so popular today have been made possible because of the novels that came before.

Denzel Washington is by far one of the greatest actors of our generation, but even the best have some duds. The Little Things, released in theaters and on streaming in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic, is a star-studded thriller that failed to enrapture audiences in its serial killer mystery. A recent example of this is his role in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II.

Glen Powell has been in many critically acclaimed productions, appearing in movies like Top Gun: Maverick, Twisters, and Hit Man, but he's been acting for over two decades. Before he became famous, the actor had a small part in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, and he still hasn't forgotten what it felt like.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Glen Powell reflected on his career so far, both his small roles, making it in Hollywood, and what kind of movies he'd like to star in next. The actor has made his intention clear that he'd love to play Batman next in James Gunn's universe, and, while that is still undecided, he did have his crossover in Nolan's final Batman movie. Despite the small role as an unnamed trader Tom Hardy's Bane runs into, Powell reflects how starring in The Dark Knight Rises changed his life.

A panned action thriller starring Mark Wahlberg has climbed the charts on Prime Video, reaching all the way to the tippy top #1 spot. Titled Infinite, the movie was met with largely scathing reviews from critics at the time, but this no-nonsense tale of a mysterious group who have mastered the art of reincarnation, and the decades of learning of fighting skills that come with it, could be just what you need amid the drama of the real world.
Loosely adapted from D. Eric Maikranz's 2009 novel "The Reincarnationist Papers," Infinite finds Mark Wahlberg as Evan McCauley, a man with skills he has never learned and memories of places he has never visited haunt his daily life. Self-medicated and on the brink of a mental breakdown, Evan is sought by a secret group that call themselves "Infinites," revealing to him that his memories may be real-but they are from multiple past lives.

Clint Eastwood has directed and starred in several films, but he only worked with Kevin Costner on a 1993 thriller because the younger actor rewrote the script. Both Clint Eastwood and Kevin Costner are legends of the Western genre, both in front of and behind the camera. Eastwood's best Westerns include legendary films like the Dollars trilogy and Unforgiven, and he's also directed hits like Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino. Likewise, Costner has had his fair share of major acting hits like Field of Dreams and JFK, as well as massively successful directorial outings like Dances with Wolves.
Despite their success, Eastwood and Costner only ever appeared in one film together, and it wasn't even a traditional Western. 1993's A Perfect World was a crime thriller about an escaped convict who kidnapped a young boy, and it pitted Costner and Eastwood on opposite sides of the law. What's more interesting than the film's genre,...

Stephen King is one of the most prolific authors of our time. Not only does the man churn out work at a blistering pace, but in terms of sheer name recognition, he's surely one of the most well-known authors in history. That is in no small part thanks to the fact that many, many of his novels and short stories have been adapted for the screen over the years, both as movies and TV shows. Yet for all of those adaptations, there's still a book that King wrote that he believes would make a great movie. It just hasn't happened yet.

The great Denzel Washington has only starred in one Western movie during his illustrious acting career, Antoine Fuqua's 2016 version of The Magnificent Seven, a star-studded remake of the 1960 movie starring Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen. Of course, both films are inspired by legendary Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa's highly influential 1954 action movie Seven Samurai.
In translating the story from the East to the West, several differences between the Samurai film and the Western movie stand out, most notably regarding the accuracy of The Magnificent Seven's cinematic tropes and tenets set along the American frontier. Fortunately, Denzel Washington is such a magnetic draw that the glaring inaccuracies of the movie, cited by historian Michael Grauer via Business Insider, did harm the movie's success at the box office or on streaming.

The Western genre has historically been one of the most successful and best-written genres in film, as shown through masterpieces like Unforgiven, Tombstone, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. That said, Hollywood takes different approaches to the genre, with some filmmakers exploring the true history of the Old West while others like to leave their mark on the setting. Even some of the most realistic Westerns focus on entirely fictitious events, while some blockbusters pull from true stories.
Westerns, like any genre that uses history for inspiration, take their share of creative license, condensing stories into shorter events, lionizing outlaws, and playing into legends. While the exact history of some of these films is disputed, others are knowingly embellished or outright fictionalized, their basis in reality lends a sense of excitement to the movies. Whether for a great shoot 'em-up action movie or grim tales of survival, a...

Rotten Tomatoes has been an authority on critical reviews since 1998. The review site offers both critical and audience ratings of movies and TV shows. Anything that has an average of 60% and over of positive reviews is certified fresh, while anything under 60% gets a splat.
Some actors like Nicolas Cage and Adam Sandler have had a horrible Rotten Tomatoes streak for years on end, only to break that streak with one good movie. Whether these performers star in these splats for the promise of a paycheck or because they genuinely thought they were good, their series of bad movies could have tanked their careers. When I hear the name Elizabeth McGovern, I immediately think of ’80s projects she worked on like Ordinary People, Racing with the Moon, Once Upon a Time in America, The Bedroom Window, and, most of all, She’s Having a Baby. Which probably gives away the fact that I have never watched Downton Abbey. McGovern has continued working steadily over the decades since the ’80s movies I mentioned, and these days is likely best known for playing the role of Cora Crawley on Downton Abbey and then reprising that role in two feature films. Next up: Variety reports that McGovern has signed on to join the cast of Anne Rice’s The Talamasca.

The best Natalie Morales movies and TV shows feature several big movies and even more television series in which she became a popular actor and a familiar face. Morales got her start with a television guest role on CSI: Miami, and two years later, she had a lead role in the sci-fi comedy-drama called The Middleman. AMC offered this description of the series and Denton’s character: “[Guy] is brilliant, handsome and sharp on the surface, but he’s always known his mind works a little differently. On the cusp of graduating law school, he is approached by a representative of the Talamasca, a secretive agency that monitors and protects us from the supernatural world. When Guy learns that the Talamasca has been tracking him since his childhood, he falls headlong into a world of secret agents and immortal beings who, up to now, have maintained a fragile balance with the mortal world.

The six-episode season 1 is set to begin shooting in October under the auspices of showrunners John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty.

Another Aussie smokeshow has joined Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe, and we can already see the fan art from here. AMC just announced that Nicholas Denton has been cast as the lead of their third series in their Iu franchise, a drama focused on a secretive society called The Talamasca (which is also the show’s current working title). Overseen by Immortal Universe architect Mark Johnson and executive produced by Oscar-nominated John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side) and co-showrunner Mark Lafferty (Halt and Catch Fire), the six-episode season will focus on the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe.
