Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, when John gave up basketball for acting in high school he went from riding the bench to winning the Arkansas state championship in the solo acting category and realized he was probably better at acting.
He graduated from Huntsville High school, then attended the University of Arkansas where he graduated in 1992 with a BA in fine arts and drama. While there, he became the first student in school history to reach the national finals of the prestigious Irene Ryan acting competition as part of the American College Theater Festival.
After spending the summer of 1992 in the acting company at the Oklahoma Shakesperian Festival, he attended UC Irvine on a chancellor's fellowship where he graduated with an MFA in fine arts and drama in 1995. He spent the summers of 1992 through 1995 in the acting company at Shakespeare L/A.
Based in Los Angeles, John got his SAG card on a commercial directed by Todd Phillips, then began acting in TV and film. Among his numerous television credits he is best known as Luc, the cop from Good Girls.
He made his first film as writer, star and producer in 2012 (Station Zero) which was awarded Best Narrative Short at two film festivals: Outside the Box and Monaco Charity. He is also the frontman, singer/songwriter and rhythm guitar player for the band Good Ol' Country Railroad.
And he is still a fan of basketball...
