It's been an up-and-down couple of weeks for Netflix shows. We've seen some big renewals, including The Perfect Couple, Beauty in Black, Xo, Kitty, and Running Point. But, the biggest news was the shocking cancellation of The Recruit starring Noah Centineo.

We knew The Recruit might be in trouble way back at the end of 2024 when Netflix confirmed the show's second season would premiere one week after The Night Agent season 2. Things looked good for The Recruit out of the gate, but Netflix made the disappointing decision to cancel the show after two seasons. The series only lasted two weeks on the Netflix Top 10 shows list in the United States.

“The Drew Barrymore Show” has just hit series highs in viewership, averaging 1.52 million viewers during the week of February 10. According to CBS Media Ventures, that’s the best-ever performance by the daytime talker, which is currently in its fifth season.

The distributor said this also marked the first time the show won the week in adults 18-34. The show hit a week-long high as it featured guests including the cast of “Yellowjackets,” Selma Blair, Mikey Madison, Key Huy Quan, Theresa Caputo, Anya Taylor-Joy and Joanna Garcia Swisher. The week also featured a special Valentine’s Day episode with Oliver Hudson, Taye Diggs and Valerie Bertinelli.

Per CBS Media Ventures, “The Drew Barrymore Show” saw year-to-year gains the week of Feb. 10 in total viewers (up 17%), women 18-49 (up 29%), women 25-54 (up 17%) and adults 25-54 (up 10%).

For four seasons, Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott), and Helen (Heather Headley) from Netflix’s romantic drama series Sweet Magnolias have been drawing fans in with their rocky relationships, questionable choices, and delicious margarita nights, but all the drama is still not enough to make one of them the most thrilling character in the show. While the three magnolias, as they call their best friend group, are at the center of the series, there is another character who outshines them all by far and is easily the best character in Sweet Magnolias, and that’s Annie (Anneliese Judge). There are two new entries on the top five movies list, an action thriller and a romantic comedy. They add to the mix of comedy and fantasy animation which continue their run. Back in Action, the Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx spy movie drops, out.

On the top five shows list it’s a very varied collection of styles and shows. There is a brand new entry straight in at the top. It’s gripping viewing for sure. There’s also the return of a long-term favorite show as more episodes are released.

After nearly two years, Sweet Magnolias finally returned for its fourth season, which was filmed throughout much of 2024. If you’ve already binged all 10 new episodes, you may be wondering if a fifth season is on the horizon. Netflix has yet to greenlight another season officially, but signs are looking positive for the future still.

Headlined by JoAnna García Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley, these three women form the core of the Magnolias, navigating life in the Southern town of Serenity. The series has been captivating audiences since its debut in May 2020. It’s safe to say that season 4 has been the most eventful so far. This season features a time jump and plenty of festive moments, taking viewers through to Christmas, complete with a surprise Halloween wedding. The town also faces a major challenge in the form of a significant storm that affects the entire community.

Carson Rowland's Ty played a significantly reduced role in Sweet Magnolias Season 4, moving from a series regular to a recurring character who popped up only a handful of times. 

Rowland's TV teen had been a part of the romantic drama since the beginning, being the eldest son of JoAnna Garcia Swisher's Maddie Townsend. 

Ty had seen some crucial story beats flow through him over the series' first three seasons, including the drama surrounding his high school baseball career, his ongoing romantic pursuits, and the ups and downs of being a child of divorce.

In its first three days of release during the week of Feb. 3-Feb. 9, Sweet Magnolias season 4 (which premiered on Feb. 6) brought in 4 million views globally, which translates to 33.7 million hours viewed. The series ranked in fourth place for the week behind The Night Agent season 2, The Recruit season 2, and American Manhunt: O.J. Simpson.

Virgin River, which has rapidly become a romance staple on the streaming platform and is seemingly here to stay, was first released in 2019 and already consists of six thrilling seasons. Luckily enough, it has been renewed for a seventh season. However, with the release date still unknown, it is high time to find another feel-good romance series on Netflix.

This season of Sweet Magnolias focused a lot on Maddie Townsend (Joanna Garcia Swisher). Maddie and Cal had a Halloween-themed wedding and then dealt with her ex-husband’s death shortly after.

Through it all, the Townsend-Maddox family dealt with it together. This was also the first season the series explored more career options for Maddie.

Therefore, we were eager to chat with Joanna Garcia Swisher since she teased that this was her favorite season. As always, it was enjoyable talking to her as she talked about her love of Sweet Magnolias Season 4 and her pride in her TV children.

Picking up where the Sweet Magnolias season 4 premiere left off, the second episode of the season begins with Cal and Maddie officially exchanging I Do’s in front of all their friends and family in a surprise Halloween wedding.

Following the ceremony, Helen and Dana Sue are understandably shocked and hurt that they were left in the dark about Maddie’s wedding plans. Maddie pulls them both aside, and they seem to be all good at the moment, but we’ll see if that remains true once the celebration ends.

On Thursday, Netflix revealed its full 2025 TV slate. The lineup includes the final seasons of two of its biggest shows, Stranger Things and Squid Game, and a second season of its other biggest show, Wednesday. It also includes promising-sounding limited series like Black Rabbit and The Four Seasons, returns of longtime Netflix favorites like Black Mirror and Chef’s Table, an overwhelming number of sports documentaries, and dozens more shows.

The biggest piece of news in the announcement is the startlingly soon release date for Squid Game Season 3. The second and third seasons shot back-to-back, and so the final season is slated for June 27, just six months after the release of Season 2. Netflix also revealed a handful of previously unannounced projects, including a 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina documentary that counts Spike Lee as a director, and a Long Island serial killer docuseries from director Liz Garbus.

Two worlds are colliding and there's two actresses who have played the same Disney princess in two different projects coming together onscreen in Sweet Magnolias season 4! The upcoming season on Netflix is introducing a new character, Iris Maddox, played by Jodi Benson, per TVLine.

If that name sounds familiar to you Disney fans, that's because Benson is the voice of The Little Mermaid. The brand new sixth season of Virgin River is now streaming on Netflix, and chances are you've already watched all 10 episodes by now. Is that all? Nope! You have nothing to worry about because Virgin River season 7 has already been confirmed. Netflix announced the show's renewal back in October 2024.

An official release date hasn't been announced for the seventh season, but it will likely be released sometime in 2025. A new season of the romantic drama series has come out every year since it first premiered. One of the show's stars, Tim Matheson, revealed in a recent interview that production on Virgin River season 7 will begin in March 2025.

Unless there are serious delays in the filmmaking process, we can expect a late 2025 or early 2026 release. However, if Netflix wants to keep up with its pattern of releasing a new season every year, then the streamer will most likely drop season 7 by the end of next year.

Virgin River just dropped, so our next soapy small-town fix must be the streaming juggernaut’s Sweet Magnolias. The third season premiered way back in July of 2023. So it’s been over a year since besties Helen, Maddie, and Dana Sue dealt with their southern-style drama that only living in Serenity can provide. Thankfully, Netflix recently announced the premiere date for season four, plus it released some first-look photos.

You season 5

Let's start with the fifth and final season of You starring Penn Badgley. Unfortunately the streamer still hasn't provided an official release date. Even though the new season is later than expected, you would think a premiere date would be given by now. I mean no offense Netflix, but we already expected it to come in 2025 since it's done filming and wasn't released in 2024 for whatever reason.

Details are still scarce, but we do have a short synopsis and two new intriguing posters that have puzzles for us to decipher. The first one is pretty easy, with the letters spelling out "goodbye you." But the second one is a bit more tricky.
