Last fall, fans of Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones movie series were left frustrated when all four of the films directed by Steven Spielberg were inexplicably removed from Disney+. In the months since, only Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was available to stream, but that frustrating problem has finally been rectified.
Per What's On Disney Plus, all four Spielberg-helmed films are now streaming again on the Disney+ platform. The reason for their temporary removal is that Paramount Pictures still holds the rights to those movies, and it would appear that the Disney+ streaming license has been renewed. This puts all five of the films starring Ford back together again on one platform, though it should be noted that the classic films are still not available yet on Disney+ internationally. It's also unclear how long this new streaming agreement will last, which may eventually lead to the movies...

What’s Harrison Ford’s best movie character? Strong cases can be made for both Han Solo and Indiana Jones. Even Red Hulk might be in contention in the future, but there’s no doubt that Jones appeals to a broader audience. George Lucas created the character as a homage to the action heroes of 1930s film serials, and since the '80s, he has been equally adored by adults and children.

The Academy Awards are widely accepted as the most important and influential awards body in the film industry, marking some of the most critically and commercially successful films of the year and celebrating the art of cinema. Though the nominees and winners are selected by a wide panel of voters from across the industry, sometimes it is easy to look back and see the flaws in the Academy's decisions.
Often, movies that win Best Picture at the Oscars do not hold up nearly as well as some of their fellow nominees. Over the years, audience and critical opinions have shifted, and many believe that different films should have won the Academy Awards' top prize.

Fans of the Indiana Jones franchise planning on soon doing a binge-watch of the films on one platform are going to be disappointed. As of now, only the fifth and final installment of the movie series is available to stream.

Richard Osman may be turning his hit novel The Thursday Murder Club into a Netflix feature, but it has not stopped him from roasting the streamer’s chief executive.
During a jolly curtain closer at the Rts London Convention, Osman and his The Rest Is Entertainment podcast co-host Marina Hyde, cast a satirical eye over the day’s speakers.
Osman poked fun at comments made by Ted Sarandos during his opening keynote, in which the Netflix co-ceo shared the secrets of streaming success to an audience of British television luminaries.
Sarandos added that “there’s no reason we couldn’t take 25%” audience share in the UK, which would more than double Netflix’s current viewership of 10%.
Lacing his comments with sarcasm, Osman joked: “We’ve all been in the business a long time and, by and large, we don’t really know what we’re doing. He knows how to...

Murder mystery adaptation The Thursday Murder Club has added yet more names to its cast, including the great Richard E Grant.
Whether The Thursday Murder Club turns out to be good, bad or indifferent, there’s no doubting the strength of its cast. Among the stars already announced, we can now add Withnail himself, Richard E Grant, and veteran British actor Paul Freeman, whose signature roles include Belloq in Raiders Of The Lost Ark.
The murder mystery adaptation’s other new additions, according to Deadline, are Tom Ellis, Geoff Bell, Sarah Niles and Ingrid Oliver – the latter perhaps best known as recurring character Petronella Osgood in Doctor Who. Oliver also happens to be the spouse of Richard Osman, the author of the original Murder Club novel.
Directed by Chris Columbus and produced by Amblin, The Thursday Murder Club sees a bunch of crime-solving retirement home residents investigate the suspicious death of a local property developer.

The influence of The Man Who Would Be King is evident in Raiders of the Lost Ark's exotic locations, thrilling action, and sense of wonder. Both films feature similar themes, with Raiders echoing ideas of obsession and pursuit of treasures. Spielberg's love for Sean Connery and Humphrey Bogart influenced the creation of iconic characters like Indiana Jones in the beloved film series.
When the blockbuster action-adventure film Raiders of the Lost Ark was released in 1981, there had never been another film like it, just as there has certainly never been another film like it since. Of the countless influences that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg brought to Raiders of the Lost Ark, the most direct influence, in terms of proximity, is the 1975 adventure film The Man Who Would Be King, which stars Sean Connery and Michael Caine as former British soldiers turned adventurers and con-men who travel to the faraway land of Kafiristan,...

Ivan Ooze only appeared in the 1995 movie, not in the TV show or comics. Ivan Ooze's design and humor perfectly suited the Power Rangers universe. Power Rangers: The Movie remains a standalone classic, non-canon but nostalgic.
One of the most iconic Power Rangers villains of all time never actually appeared on the TV show and has only one appearance in the franchise. More than 30 years after the premiere of Mighty Morphin, the Power Rangers universe has seen countless villains between major antagonists and monsters-of-the-week. Most of them originated from Super Sentai shows, but characters like Lord Zedd or Astronema were created for Power Rangers. Even though Power Rangers continues to release new series and comic book runs, the nostalgia over the original show has shaped the franchise for years.

John Rhys-Davies lost 22 pounds from food poisoning on the set of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The actor endured vomiting, diarrhea, and an ant infestation during his illness. Rhys-Davies claimed he felt so bad that "God died" in that moment, as he suffered from food poisoning.
The Raiders of the Lost Ark food poisoning story is absolutely true. During his sit-down on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Indiana Jones co-star John Rhys-Davies shared his harrowing ordeal. As it turns out, Rhys-Davis came down with a horrific case of food poisoning on the set of director Steven Spielberg's 1981 film, and it led to the actor losing over 20 pounds. Rhys-Davies said during his Inside of You interview:

Snake expert Sara Ruane explains that the snake scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark is accurate in terms of how snakes would typically behave. Snakes primarily use venom to acquire prey and not for defensive purposes, so they would rather avoid biting in a situation like the snake-infested pit. While the scene in the movie is realistic in terms of snake behavior, it should be noted that many of the animals shown are not actually snakes.

VFX artists analyze a flaw in the face-melting scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark: The glasses make the time-lapse filming technique noticeable upon close examination. Despite the minor flaw, the face-melting sequence is still memorable due to its practical effects and the attention to detail in other aspects of the scene. The Ark of the Covenant sequence exemplifies the film's ability to combine visual and tangible effects, creating a realistic and captivating experience for audiences.
VFX artists break down the minor Indiana Jones flaw that nearly ruined an iconic Raiders of the Lost Ark scene. The 1981 film tracked Harrison Ford's courageous archaeologist, who sought to prevent Nazis from recovering an ancient power known as the Ark of the Covenant. After confronting René Belloq (Paul Freeman) near the end of the movie, Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) were forced to watch the relic being opened. It's one of the most defining moments of the character of Indiana Jones, and the most key moment in terms of the tone of 1981's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is when confronted by a master swordsman in the streets of Cairo, Indy (played with a mixture of Bogart-like weariness and gumption by Harrison Ford) makes a snap decision not to engage the brute in a lengthy and (likely) ill-fated physical bout. Instead, he merely pulls his revolver from its holster and shoots the swordsman point blank, allowing him to quickly continue the search for his missing partner, Marion (Karen Allen).
As has become a thing of "Raiders" legend by now, this altercation was not originally scripted in this manner. In fact, it was the result of several factors, most notably director Steven Spielberg wishing to hurry his production schedule along and Ford, suffering from a gross illness at the time,...

At the beginning of Steven Spielberg's 1981 adventure film "Raiders of the Lost Ark," Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) escapes from a jungle-bound ancient temple having just escaped spiders, darts, moving stone doors, a near-plummet into a pit, and a massive rolling boulder. To make matters worse, Indy didn't even get to keep the golden Chachapoyan fertility idol that he had plundered from inside, reluctantly handing it over to a greedy rival (Paul Freeman) backed by an army of armed locals. Indy manages to slip away and, once again, just barely escapes peril as the locals fire arrows and poison darts at him. He barely manages to make it back to a seaplane in a nearby river, where his pilot Jock (Fred Sorenson) flies him to safety.
Ah, but the peril isn't quite over. Indy notices that there's a snake in his passenger seat. Jock assures Indy that it's just his pet snake,...

When thinking about Power Rangers villains, the most memorable ones come to mind. A common misconception is relating their icon status to them being the best villains in the franchise. Sure, Rita Repulsa (Machiko Soga and Carla Perez) – with her maniacal cackle and her gray hair tied up in knot-horns – is one of the greatest villains, but the best? No. Perhaps Lord Zedd (Ed Neil) with his skinless menacing look and fierceness could be the prime villain? Wrong. Or maybe even Paul Freeman’s purpley and gooey Ivan Ooze from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie could fill the spot? Wrong again. For purist fans, this might be blasphemy, but the number one Power Rangers villain came a bit later than all those previously mentioned.

Steven Spielberg's 1981 adventure film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" opens in "South America" in 1936, actually Peru. The Peruvian jungle sequences were shot in Hawaii, while the stone temples were constructed on a soundstage at Elstree Studios in England. The film's famed opening sequence sees Professor Henry "Indiana" Jones (Harrison Ford) trekking into said Peruvian temple -- a temple lousy with spiders and booby traps -- to retrieve a golden Idol left standing on a stone alter in a long-hidden antechamber. This near-mythic object was clearly well-protected by the long-dead tribes that put it there, as still-functioning traps fired spears or darts into any potential interlopers. Once Indy retrieves the idol, it is promptly stolen by a rival archaeologist named Belloq (Paul Freeman).
The idol doesn't play a role in "Raiders of the Lost Ark" beyond that opening sequence, and the film never stops to explain exactly what it is...

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is the first in the franchise without Steven Spielberg in the director's chair, and it's different in some key ways. Whether Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones dies at the end or not, Dial of Destiny is the titular hero’s last outing — for real this time. It’s notable for another reason as well, with director James Mangold (Logan) taking over for Spielberg while tasked with balancing nostalgia and novelty.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny might be packed with Easter eggs and hidden references to the franchise’s other installments, but it also feels different from Spielberg’s outings in some key ways. From providing audiences with more fully-realized, nuanced side characters to thinking deeply about the historical moments in which it situates its plot, Dial of Destiny offers a lot of welcome change, even if there are a few missteps.

"The deaths – are they accidents... or murder?" This already opened in Europe last year under the original Spanish name La Piel Del Tambor, though it doesn't seem like it's good enough to get a proper theatrical release in the US. Vatican intelligence operative Father Quart (Richard Armitage) investigates an anonymous message sent to the pope concerning a crumbling Spanish church that "kills to defend itself". Here’s the thing: you can argue for another Indiana Jones film as the archaeologist’s greatest adventure, but then Raiders comes along and outshines it with a light that reduces all who disrespect it to dust. Raiders is a perfect film: if it had flaws they’d be like the scar on Harrison Ford’s chin: a flourish to set off the perfection of the rest. If Raiders had a flaw (see Note 2), it would be like the deliberate mistake that master Persian carpet weavers introduce to their intricate patterns so that they don’t challenge God himself. And if this film teaches us anything, it’s that challenging God is not a good idea. The other are (mostly) astonishingly great because they’re a lot like Raiders. Raiders is astonishingly great because it is a perfect film.

The artifact plot hole found in Raiders of the Lost Ark is also repeated in the third Indiana Jones movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Harrison Ford first debuted as the archeologist-adventurer Indiana Jones in Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark, conceived by Spielberg and George Lucas as a throwback to adventure serials. Indy would return for further adventures in the Indiana Jones series, with Ford reprising the role one last time in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Indy himself becoming synonymous with adventure.
As an archeologist, Indy's adventures take him all over the world in pursuit of ancient historical artifacts. Paul Freeman appears to eat a fly in the middle of his lines during a critical moment in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark — and the moment is still one of the most widely-discussed Indiana Jones trivia points. Adapting to the situation as the cameras were rolling, Freeman was able to remain in character during an unexpected moment that would've broken the focus in most seasoned actors. It's been over 40 years since "Raiders of the Lost Ark" introduced audiences to Indiana Jones. The archaeology professor who spends his spare time tracking down priceless artifacts and keeping them out of the hands of Nazis and other tyrants is one of cinema's most iconic heroes. That makes him an ideal target for squeezing out as much merchandise as possible. However, with the character's most recent theatrical adventure arriving 15 years ago, it's been awhile since the man with the hat got a proper assembly of collectibles. Thankfully, the arrival of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" this summer has made the franchise ripe for merchandising mining again, and that means Hasbro can finally give Indiana Jones the detailed action figures fans have wanted for decades.

4K discs are selling like hotcakes so it’s only natural for studios to give Home Theater fanatics the biggest vintage blockbusters. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg’s hyper-efficient, no-loitering juggernaut is a return to the joys of serial action thrills, one ‘did you see that?’ bravura sequence after another. Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones is pitted against Paul Freeman’s villainous Belloq, and the might of Jehovah combats the Nazis. Accept the proposition that Adolf Hitler was ‘nuts about the occult’ and everything else will make logical sense. The picture hasn’t dated at all — it overflows with Gee-Whiz excitement that makes Marvel exploits play like weak tea.

Production troubles ranged from both cast and crew getting sick while in Tunisia to the script being changed as the film was being shot. Also, many studios were hesitant to fund the film's 20 million budget, and they had all but lost their faith in Spielberg after the crushing failure of his previous film, "1941."
