- [on the Caribbean-set soap-opera 'Strange Paradise', filmed in Ottawa] Filming was terrible. We began shooting in August in a cinder-block building with no air conditioning. The aptly named Crawley Studio was infested with cluster flies. Millions of them were released by the heat, to the point that it looks like video break-up on the screen. On the threat of a staff walk-out, they were forced to put in air conditioning.. The show had a fan club and a large following. There's still a large group of now middle-aged viewers who were horrified by the strange goings-on.
