From the prestigious family of writers and actors, Walter Foote found
his artistic "footing" much later in life. The son of legendary
playwright Horton Foote and his producer wife Lillian V. Foote, Walter graduated from
the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Special Honors
in History) in 1978. He received his Juris Doctorate Degree from the
University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1983. After practicing
commercial law in Manhattan for 15 years, Foote completed the Intensive
Film Workshop at New York University where he directed two
well-received short films (one of which he also scripted). Walter has
been writing screenplays for decades, including his work "Atonement,"
and wrote, directed and produced his first feature length commercial
film The Tavern (1999). His siblings are actress Hallie Foote, playwright Daisy Foote and
actor Horton Foote Jr..
