With fans clamoring for a crossover episode between CBS procedurals Hawaii Five-0, Magnum, P.I., and MacGyver, the co-creator of the three series says it may just happen.
Peter M. Lenkov, the creative mind behind the reboots, sat down with the casts of the shows Saturday afternoon at PaleyFest in Los Angeles.
After the actors dished on their characters, moderator Kevin Frazier of Entertainment Tonight asked the day’s burning question — when will there be a crossover?
“This is a question I’ve never heard before,” Lenkov joked. “We talk about it a lot in the room, how to do it. I think there’s a way to do it, it’s just logistics.”
While Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum, P.I. are shot in Hawaii, MacGyver is filmed in Atlanta, making a crossover a bit of a challenge.
Still, Lenkov told Saturday’s audience of loyal fans, “We’d love to make that work out.

Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is your favorite murder mystery show?
Erik Adams (@ErikMAdams), A.V. Club
It has to be “Twin Peaks,” right? I’m one of those annoying people who insists the show is so much more than “Who killed Laura Palmer?”, but that is our entry point to David Lynch and Mark Frost’s weird little world, and the question that briefly made “Twin Peaks” a pop-culture phenomenon. And the chapters of the series that deal with finding Laura’s murderer are some of the most compelling, from the dream-sequence enhanced “Zen, Or The Skill To Catch A Killer” or the eventual solution to the mystery, a...

Pasadena - Forget the AFI Top 10 list of Best TV shows. Why should care about TV since they are the American Film Institute? This is kind like the American Diabetic Prevention Society’s Top 10 Favorite Sugary Candy Bars list. Or Bravo’s Top 10 Hunting Shows. Or Madd’s Best 10 Drinks to Mess You Up. Or Charlie Sheen’s Top 10 Things You Can Do Without Involving Hookers and Blow. If they care about TV that much, shouldn’t they be the Aftvi? But they are a pack of List Whores over at AFI with their 100 Years a 100 Stupid Lists press releases.

CBS is excited about Hawaii Five-0. And why not? The original series ran for twelve seasons between 1968-80, making it one of the most enduring crime dramas in television history. Ask most people what the most recognized or famous television theme song of all time is, and they're likely going to say either Hawaii Five-0 or Mission Impossible. Even those who haven't seen Five-0 on television can probably hum the theme.
By that reckoning, it sort of makes sense to reboot the series for a contemporary audience. At least that's what CBS is gambling in its new version of Hawaii Five-0, which kicks off tonight. The network was kind enough to send us a screener a while back, and it's taken yours truly this long to crank out my two cents because we're tenaciously working behind-the-scenes on a complete redesign of CinemaSpy.
So what should you expect from Five-0 redux?...

One of the most anticipated new network series coming down the pipe from CBS is their remade "Hawaii Five-o" effort. "Hawaii Five-o" was a solid hit CBS series that began in 1968 and ran for 12 seasons, ending in 1980. The show featured former Navy officer Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord) and his go-to team of Danny Williams (James MacArthur), Kam Fong (Chin Ho Kelly) and Zulu (Kono Kalakaua). Now Variety reports that "The Cleaner" and "Battlestar Galactica's" Grace Park is joining the upcoming CBS update of Hawaii Five-o. Park will play Kona Kalakua, niece of squad member Chin Ho Kelly, who will be played by Lost's Daniel Dae Kim. Park's character is described as a champion surfer...

After recent news of "Lost" star Daniel Dae Kim joining the "Hawaii Five-o" adaptation of the classic TV series, fans of Alex O'Loughlin should be pleased to know that the "Moonlight" star has landed the role of Detective Steve McGarrett, head of the Hawaii State Police. Jack Lord originally played the character in the 1968 series created by Leonard Freeman. Dae Kim plays Kam Fong's character Detective Chin Ho Kelly. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci ("Transformers" franchise, "Fringe," "Star Trek") are penning the screenplay as well as executive producing with Peter M. Lenkov. CBS Studios produces. O'Loughlin was last seen in the critically panned Kate Beckinsale starrer "Whiteout" from Universal.

After 12 seasons on the air, CBS' Hawaii Five-o finally came to an end. Unfortunately, it went out with more of a whimper than a bang.
Hawaii Five-o centers around Jack Lord and James MacArthur as detectives Steve McGarrett and Dan Williams who work for the fictional Hawaiian state police department. Others in the cast include Kam Fong, Herman Wedemeyer, Harry Endo, Zulu, Richard Denning, Al Harrington, Al Eben, Peggy Ryan, Glenn Cannon, Danny Kamekona, Moe Keale, Douglas Mossman, and Kwan Hi Lim. The show’s straightforward storytelling, fast-paced action and strong ensemble cast kept the show popular for years.
The last episode of the police series, number 278, is titled "Woe to Wo Fat." It was first aired on April 5, 1980. By this time in the show's history, both MacArthur (Danny "Danno" Willams) and Fong (Chin Ho Kelly) had left the series.

With ABC’s Lost finally coming to a close, expect to hear about its various cast members signing on to new long-term projects. Well, maybe not topliners Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly, who’ve both recently stated how they’re considering an early retirement once their Lost duties are fulfilled, which, of course, is annoying to hear and difficult to believe. One member of the Ocean 815 crew that’s set to ride his on-the-rise star status without qualms is Daniel Dae Kim, who plays the stoic “Jin” on ABC’s hit series. The Hollywood Reporter has divulged that the Korean actor joined the cast of CBS’s Hawaii Five-0 remake, which is the brainchild of Fringe co-creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (also the fellas responsible for writing last year’s Star Trek for J.J. Abrams, as well as both Transformers films).
Like Lost, Hawaii Five-o will be filmed in its namesake state.

Around this time every year, all the networks start to cast their pilots. While you may think every show that gets developed ends up on the air, you’d be mistaken. The odds of creating a show that actually makes it is very small, and to become a hit show, it’s like winning the lottery. To try and raise the odds of a successful crop of new shows, the networks develop many pilots. In fact, the number is often two or three times what they actually need. That way they can pick the best of the bunch, and the rest are usually never seen or heard from again. Again, even if you hear about a pilot, it doesn’t mean you’ll ever see it.

Have you ever heard of the author Douglas Coupland? He writes novels with a comical nod to pop culture, though the main plot might be gravely serious. In the case of jPod, it was just another book about that generation of young professionals who graduated in an era when computer science was the hottest destination under the sun. Coupland wrote a few books about this generation (they’re all worth checking out), but only jPod found its way as a television show. Guess what? You probably never heard of it. But you really ought to seek it out.
